Cyprus has been a typical British holiday destination, which always put me off as I hate going to all those resort type places. But maybe I should check it out.
Ah it's so great that you've shown how inexpensive Cyprus can be, a few people I know have said they wouldn't want to go because it's so expensive! The top hotels are pricey yes but eating and drinking as well as busses and entrance fees into places are not that expensive. I love all the archaeology sites, I love exploring tombs and all the ancient sites with many around Paphos. The last time we went (we stayed in Paphos) and paid for half a day Segway tour....it was amazing! The guide brought us to all the ancient sites and gave us history lessons along the way, well worth doing. The place was situated near the car rental place you walked past in the video, not far from the bus station. If your still there, I would definitely recommend. 😁 We've been 5 times now and each time hire a car and travel around the island, absolutely beautiful place with really friendly people. X
not expensive ??? even in low season that would mean 600-700€ monthly rent and at least 600€ for food etc...so all together way more than a 1000€ per.month for basic necessities but u call that cheap ??? hilarious
casel LI i didn’t say Cyprus was cheap I said that I thought it was great that Gabriel showed us how inexpensive Cyprus could be. He was staying in a hotel apartment which is always going to be more expensive than renting a flat etc Also, he was showing us the prices of meals and drinks at restaurants which is different to actually living in a place for a month where I’m guessing, you wouldn’t eat out at all your meals times??!! It all depends what countries/places you are comparing it all to I suppose.
If you are going to live there for months you can rent a property for less than that, you won't stay in a pay per day place (hotel etc), unless you are crazy .. DAHH!
Hello from Cyprus. As a tourist it's expensive for you but we as locals we know where to eat high class for the same price and shop organic food. I buy 20 euros worth of groceries and it lasts me a week, breakfast , lunch and dinner and snacks. But our places are amazing to eat and fun to go out eating and drinking coffee. Make sure you know a local so you can eat the best food and have the best time.
No fee to withdraw cash in Pathos.....love that! The New York Plaza hotel with a full kitchen and nice "room with a view" and balcony looked lovely! Even $60.00 a night during the "high Season" is still a bargain but $23.00 during the Winter is fabulous for a good size apartment. You can travel so well on a reasonable budget and stay for twice the amount of time in Cyprus as you might anywhere else near the Mediterranean Sea. The Cypriot food you showed looked so fresh, healthy and satisfying....for so little cash....what a great place!
Internet is the most commercialized commodity in 2018 . If its slow in any place then it means its deliberate and you need to pay huge sum to get fast internet .
Hey Gabriel, great video as always! The "collection of scarves" hanging on the tree is nothing but offerings from people to Saint Solomoni. It is believed that she will cure the illness you suffer from if you tie a scarf outside the church.
just a couple of things- next time you come, come in the summer and call me, us locals who grew up in North America and now live here, know and have seen the WHOLE island and we can show you the BEST places to eat at prices that will blow your mind- also, thanks for letting people know how COLD it can be here in winter- especially if you are from Alaska and saying how cold it is, it kinda confirms it- houses are built for summer not winter so be wary where you book if you come winter months- summer months start april ish until novemberish and october is the BEST month to come to Cyprus - thanks for the great video and remember that the WHOLE island has its pros and cons-
Cyprus can be really expensive for tourist. Hotels can be really pricey but there are cheapest places to go rarher than staying in downtown. Like staying in Coral beach or bigger houses with many people, like family houses. Also for restaurants is better to go in the middle of the town. For clubbing and having fun downtown is the best place. For the most beautiful beaches are in Latchi Beach and Akamas with really nice 4×4 tours. Also rental car are better in the airpotrts. For drinks and staff also the best places to buy are the supermarkets, avoid suvenir shops and kiosk. There everything cost at least €2 more. Cyprus can be cheap if you are a tourist but you avoid to leave like a tourist i guess
I mean Paphos. Not Cyprus. Lemesos is really expensive ,also Nicosia. I dont know a lot about Larnaca. For the special night clubbing fun time Ayia Napa is the best place, the ceapest flights are to Larnaca, the capital is Nicosia but nothing special there, for History and culture go to Paphos, and for nature go to Troodos
Kyriakos Theodorou You hit the nail bro - I got more insight from your post as I would be coming to study in Nicosia , I don’t need hotels , just need an affordable crib in an environment where I can get local food and not intercontinental cuisine - decent girls not commercial pleasure givers , hopefully my experience is going to be worthwhile in Cyprus .
If you plan visit Greece now, the weather is bad, temperature is in the teens centigrade (late fifties F). If you do visit us, go to Crete (the weather is milder) and the southern Peloponnese (Mani peninsula)
Your videos are spectacular and I am a huge fan! You got the life bro! Keep up the great work and stay safe. Looking forward to meeting up with you one day. Drinks and dinner will be on me!
Rahul Bharadwaj The meaning of cheap has changed recently and it ain't even summer yet, Super is there to attract attention. When cheap is written, I expect 10~15$ for a room and 5-6$ for a decent meal and that's not super cheap.
Gabriel Traveler Sorry. You said it was the cheapest you could find and it's in winter. With cost of food added,it ain't a cheap destination even less when it's the right time to be there. Greece is more affordable I think. So is Portugal, Roumania Bulgaria, Ukraine etc...
I stayed near Paphos five years ago but I'm going back later this year, staying at the Kings Hotel which is in your video at 5.12. Useful to have some up to date costs of things and a better idea of how far to walk down to the harbour area. We used to come in by bus down the Tomb of the Kings road so I recognise many of the places.
Thank you for bringing us on your trips. I look forward to every new video you post. In fact, I go search your channel from time to time just to make sure I haven't missed the latest one!
Thanks a lot, appreciate it. I haven't been posting quite as frequently lately. Been taking a bit of a break from filming every day. Working on the next video now though from Cyprus.
50 countries ! Yay ! . Thanks for the great videos. This town isn't particularly attractive but I'm sure in the high season it's bustling and a lot of fun. I liked the boy with the fish statue.
I'm from Scandinavia Europe and I can say that those food prices are far from cheap. In Spain, more touristy than Cyprus, food prices cost half, for example buffe in most of Spain's cities cost around 10-15 euros, I mean good buffe. but the hotel price is cheap where you live. Larnca is more touristy go there if you have the opportunity
Unfortunately the prices scale up with the demand, and there are a lot of Tourists. Our whole economy is based on tourism so it makes sense that restaurants, hotels, bars can be very expensive in the summer. Considering other tourist destinations, the prices are normal.
What an awesome apartment for so cheap per night! Comparable to some prices I’ve seen in Belgrade during this time of year, and even in the summer season.
But for affordable food, drink, etc. Serbia is definitely a great option. No beach or anything but there still is a lot to see if you like visiting churches, monasteries and there are a lot of cool things to see in the cities
There is nothing wrong with Paphos .its quite pleasant can be hot in summer safe and reasonable . prices do get a little more expensive july / august . car hire goes up too .but overall not an expensive place . Those looking to relocate . It can be a very very nice place to retire too . Top villages . Are Tala and kamares village. Especialy Kamares About 10 mins from Paphos .
We stayed in Kathikas in 2017. We shared/rented a villa with 2 other families. WIFI was great with good download speeds. My Brother lives in Nicosia and he has good internet. That hotel you stayed at probably had a cheap program going hence the bad wifi speeds. I enjoyed your video. Regarding the political climate there, yeah, I was in Cyprus in 1974 when the Turks attacked and occupied the top half of the Island. We were refugees as a result but we did not lose our house that we were renting in Nicosia. Close call though.
The Airbnb‘s I stayed in in Cyprus had very decent wifi speeds (upload speeds 10mbps+)... the apartments were also very affordable. So I wouldn‘t say internet speeds are bad in general. If you need more infrastructure you should stay in Limassol or Larnaca.
Hm, I tried to upload videos at five or six different restaurants, and in two different hotels and it was always the same thing, insanely slow. It was slightly better in Larnaca at least.
kleftiko is lamb shank cooked in a sauce. I remember the days when you could eat a three course meal with wine for £8. Prices have shot up since they took on the Euro.
really? I bought a cold many-hours-ago- sandwich on the street in Amesterdam and paid 5.50-6.00 euros and 8 euros with a small thing to drink. this was not enough to get me not hungry until I finish the walk.
Don't place any of your things on top of hotel comforters. They are filthy and never washed. Take off the comforters the minute you are in your hotel room. :)
Nice video, Gabriel! Yes, except for the first restaurant things seem considerably cheap! The dinner looked wonderful. Filling, something that I desire. It's like my vacation on Terceira. Isl., Azores, PT. I could stuff myself, and more, if I were careful, on 12 euros. A decent dinner for about 18 to 19, and of course both about a 5-minute walk from the beach. What I've seen of Cyprus I like. Originally, there were a native people, not the Greeks; I think they still live there.
Those restaurant prices for low season are a rip off. I routinely eat for $4 USD in Thailand in winter ( high season for Thailand). Oh, and the internet doesn't suck.
As you become more successful (congrats!), it seems you are no longer a budget traveler. I, too, travel the world and $16 lunches are a treat, maybe once a week or so, on my budget. You could get lots of veggies for that money and use your kitchenette at the hotel.
True. I'm sure the veggies are crazy cheap at the markets in Cyprus. I'm not much of a cook, I'd rather eat the local food at a restaurant, drink a beer or a glass of wine while someone else makes a hot meal for me and work on the computer in the process. Evenings at restaurants are when I get a lot of my video editing done.
And, now here I am fresh from your Jerusalem video ... Oh, and I'm reminded of another video request that I have to make of you, please: A fashion one! No kidding, all of your T-Shirts (long and short sleeved) are KILLER! I wished I owned them all.
i have relatives in Crete and someplace where its sometimes Greece sometimes Turkey. when my great grandparents came here Ellis Island changed their names from Michaelatsis to Mitchell

I need to figure out how to work those into the videos. That would be cool to see for context. I guess I need another editing program that includes something like that. Also I want to make a map that shows all eight of my trips in India. That would look really damn cool.
im scared to search on the internet for countrys now it looks alot better on camera than in real life a lot cleaner and greener but it might just be where i live
Gabriel has by far the most relaxed, down to earth and realistic travel videos in the internet.
Cyprus has been a typical British holiday destination, which always put me off as I hate going to all those resort type places. But maybe I should check it out.
Far from it lots ex pats out there but more russians than brits ...
Absolutely love Cyprus, our area is more Lanarca, Protaras but it is one of the best places that we have ever visited.
hi are you british

Was working out in Cyprus for a British Travel company back in 2013 nice to see you doing a video of this amazing Island. ☺

Thanks, it's a real milestone.

My dad was in Cyprus in WW2. He used to tell me about it. He flew fighter planes. I adore your videos.
Going in February is smart. You go to see what Cyprus is like not a bunch of tourists.
True, but the weather is not so nice.
If you plan visit Greece now, the weather is bad, temperature is in the teens centigrade (late fifties F). If you do visit us, go to Crete (the weather is milder) and the southern Peloponnese (Mani peninsula)
Hi Gabriel, I'm planing a trip to CY in late October. Your video was very informative. Thanks a lot
Great video, Gabriel. I used to vacation in Cyprus, did a lot of snorkeling off of Pafos. It's a great country.
Was going this December for a short winter break. NO MORE - GOOD OLD LOCKDOWN! 😣
This is Cyprus my friend, we have the slowest internet in the world
Oh no wonder my boyfriend there have problem with internet .
Lebnon have the slowest internet ever
Philippines too hahahaha
Really? why doesn't the government promote the internet speed
Thank you for uploading. I am on my way to Cyprus in April. The food is very cheap , coming from the uk . Be safe and thank-you for your upload ❤
Why would anybody dislike your videos is beyond me. We get to experience places we will probably never visit.
Your videos are spectacular and I am a huge fan! You got the life bro! Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Looking forward to meeting up with you one day. Drinks and dinner will be on me!
- Interesting. I wouldn't have thought this place would be so cool ate night based on the geographical location. Interesting.
Enjoy it! 🌍
oh believe me.. in July and August, it’s something else. It can go up to 43-45 celsius.
Something has change about the meaning of super cheap lately............!!
Mathieu Tallard yeah. $23 is cheap. Lol
Exactly. I paid more for a dorm bed in Jerusalem. In Cyprus you get a huge apartment with kitchen.
Rahul Bharadwaj The meaning of cheap has changed recently and it ain't even summer yet, Super is there to attract attention. When cheap is written, I expect 10~15$ for a room and 5-6$ for a decent meal and that's not super cheap.

Gabe: A nice Island. Decent prices. An awesome video.

Yeah the island is more interesting once you get out of town. I'll show a lot more in the next video. It's uploading right now.
Where you were wasn’t exactly the town. The Old Town in Paphos has been renovated in recent years and is really nice.
I'm from Scandinavia Europe and I can say that those food prices are far from cheap. In Spain, more touristy than Cyprus, food prices cost half, for example buffe in most of Spain's cities cost around 10-15 euros, I mean good buffe. but the hotel price is cheap where you live.

I am going to Paphos tomorrow. Your video was really helpful. Hope it's not too cold there.
Oohhhh yeesss!!!!! The strawberry tart = superpower!
Well I enjoyed the video a lot. Happy travel to you sir !!
i thought cyprus was cheep, food prices are like Amsterdam, where you even can find cheaper if you try
@Nicos Frangeskou Depends of the country you're at.....Chypre is expensive. That's all. I'm out.Se Asia, Central America. ...all better.

Cynthia.. I would rather see the town itself than the inside of an apartment kitchen.. But, I get your point..
Limaasol has great internet! 😉👍
I love your videos they are awesome and I have learnt so much from you thank you, your a star.
Great, thank you. :)
Amazing video as always. Cyprus is definitely cheap compared to other EU countries. It's now high on my list ☺️ Thanks Gabriel ✌️
See you soon Cyprus!
To be honest It’s not cheap is normal... imagine here in Cyprus minimum wage is 3.50 euro an hour
yeah prices are same as in Amsterdam but minimum wage is around 8 euro!!
maybe because is for tourists??
Where do you work? Definitely not 3.5 per hour. Minimum wage is 900 euro
Nazanin Naz 8 euroo damnn I WISH I WAS GETTING 8 euro per hour seriously i wish, but NOO CHANCE
Adriana Eleftheriou depends what did you finish, and for sure is not 900!! 800 salary this is what the giving!!!
Spent 6 month's in Cyprus when I was 19 , would like to re visit
Cyprus is Greek in 1974 36% of Cyprus was occupied by the turks
And, now here I am fresh from your Jerusalem video ...
Oh, and I'm reminded of another video request that I have to make of you, please: A fashion one!
No kidding, all of your T-Shirts (long and short sleeved) are KILLER!
I wished I owned them all.
Looks like a really great vacation place! ✌🏼👍🏼
i have relatives in Crete and someplace where its sometimes Greece sometimes Turkey. when my great grandparents came here Ellis Island changed their names from Michaelatsis to Mitchell
That must be Cyprus then, I think it's the only place where Greek and Turkish cultures are on the same island.
i was wondering the same. they passed when my grandfather was 2 so he lost track. they visited there as adults. but the info we were able to find was thru Ancestry.com. but I had no luck at all
beautiful
Cyprus is NOT half greek and half turkish! Cyprus is a greek island where 36% is OCCUPIED by turks since 1974!
I agreee!!!!
How bout British
Love your video .. inspires me to go there
Gabriel, great video as always. Where are you going next?
Great for the budget traveller
Great one. 👍
wow, great price and even low season is best time to visit.
lol... i used to work there... love pafos, its my home
Looks like a very relaxing place to visit.
Yeah I know that everywhere in Cyprus the WiFi is to slow 😁😂
I am from Cyprus like if you are Too
U should go to the little cyclades and or karpathos, a little pre high season.. End of april-may should be good👍
Restaurant and Bar prices are NOT increased / decreased according to season.
Okay, thanks.
Food looks good and reasonable
Nice but the restaurants you went to are all tourist restaurants. Most locals or people who want to sample real local cuisine go to more authentic places. The places you went to aren't bad and I've been to places like that but next time check the Lonely Planet Guide or something
Eating well today.
awesome thanks,,my mom was born there when it was the turkish side :)))
Great info!
Did not see you with a single smoothie this time.
❤️❤️Gabriel Traveler❤️❤️
When you have a kitchen do you at least use it to save money? Eating out all the time is super expensive.
Enjoy your winging it style of traveling.
Thanks.
Great video my freind
Great Video. Thank you for posting. I like you T shirt........ "Elephant".
Suggestion....animated world map with your route around the world at the end of the year?
I need to figure out how to work those into the videos. That would be cool to see for context. I guess I need another editing program that includes something like that. Also I want to make a map that shows all eight of my trips in India. That would look really damn cool.
Ok. Going to Cyprus in a couple days but haven't booked a hotel yet. Where's the best area to stay?
I heard Uruguay is very cheap and excellent value for money for back packers
I love the outside large menu at 6:22 '
Nice video gabriel keep going
