At 17:58 indeed is a church and is called Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church - in Keryneia. Was built in the second half of the 4th century AD and was one of the largest churches on the island. It was destroyed by turkish invaders in 1974.
Seeing genitals painted on church walls, rubbish etc is so sad and turkish must respect the Christian monuments and churches...but after all is an occupied area and hundred of Christian churches are in the same condition as this one is.

@nonamenoname2767 You've taken the land illegally what don't you understand? You want the Greek Cypriots to recognise TRNC lose all our land & get no retribution when the island of Cyprus has been Greek for over 3000 years while the Turks have been there 300 and were only 15% of the population? You need to understand in Cyprus we don't care about Greece we care about our families and quality of life Cyprus is more prosperous then Turkey & Greece why would we join either when we can be rich ourselves? You want recognition and two state soloution we want the island as one as agreed in 1960 independence settlement. Now we're never ever going to change that view it's up to you what you do join us legally and tell Turkey to leave or it stays as it is forever. Even in a thousand years the world will never recognise TRNC it was an illegal land grab and no amount of time can change that. The flag of the Republic of Cyprus was made by a Turkish Cypriot brother and we wave it proudly Turkey and Greece (who do not get involved) have absolutely no business in Cyprus it's a sovereign country yes both side's done wrong but we live in the present if we unite everything will be find but you don't want that you want to be part of Turkey bit I thought the whole point was you didn't want us to join Greece yet we're fully independent and Erdoğan decides what happens in Cyprus and he's decided he wants our oil and gas and you lot are gonna let him take it yeah great neighbours. And I dont even want to continue with the same examples, just give me the easiest answer for my question. why world war 2 happened? you said youre a historian, it happened because of germany's aggression towards his neighboring innocent countries right? now why greece's military coup that they made in the cyprus is not the same as the germany did in austria? or the way the greeks and Cypriots hunted turks as the same as the germans hunted jews? The fucking story of the history will always be written in the way the big countries wants. just imagine the similarities of the situtions I just told you. theyre same and turkey was 100% right to intervene. And even after the attack, Turkey was the only country that was willing to do a peace, a white peace where there willl be a one goverment for both of the ethnicities and not a devided country. Turkey was the side who was always fighting in the peace conferances they made to reunite the countries.. I suggest you to go and study your history a little bit more..

Gabriel - I love your videos but this video has me boggled. How is Northern Cyprus "disputed". It is not. Look at what the UN and international courts have to say about the status of Northern Cyprus. It was invaded and is still illegally occupied by a foreign government. That is clear as daylight. The only country in the entire world that recognizes Northern Cyprus is Turkey -- the illegally occupying force. Calling it "disputed" normalizes the vast atrocities committed during the military invasion and occupation and evades the fact that, in the international community and in law, it is not a "disputed" territory. You can do better than this, Gabriel.

Northern Cyprus is a spectacularly beautiful and unspoilt area of the Mediterranean which is off the beaten track. Hopefully that will change soon. Tourists SHOULD visit Northern Cyprus and help the Turkish Cypriots develop their tourism and economy, notwithstanding the stale braying of their detractors whining on about the ''occupation'' of Cyprus.

Turkey intervened in 1974 to stop the systematic genocide of the Turkish Cypriots which had been going on since 50’s. Britain wouldn’t get involved cos they have military bases in Cyprus and that’s more important to them than the safety of the Turkish Cypriots, so Turkey had no choice but to intervene. The 1960 agreement handing Cyprus over to Cypriot rule, only lasted 3 years before the Turkish Cypriots were thrown out of the government and marginalised. Then the coup d’etat in 1974 was what actually caused the intervention, so if EOKA hadn’t tried to annexe Cyprus to Greece the island would still be united today.
