Tim Burton didn't direct the second film, Burton produced it because Burton was busy directing Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, so the second film has a more traditional Disneyesque lighter tone and less of the darker Burtonesque tone, and Tarrant Hightopp goes from depressed to happy in the second film so he speaks in a gentle high voice reflecting the light joyous side of his personality, he only spoke in a deep Scottish accent when he was irritable because the Red Queen wanted Hightopp decapitated and when he thought his family were murdered by the Red Queen's Jabberwock. Hightopp and Kingsleigh defeated the Red Queen's dictatorship, he became depressed about Alice Kingsleigh leaving Underland, but she returned and here he found his long lost family. I don't see see any reason why she couldn't return to the Underland dimension again. Tim Burton and script writer Linda Woolverton have 'Wonderland" actually being a misunderstood name for Underland because Charles Dodgson's original manuscript name for the book was Alice's Adventures Under Ground. Alice Kingsleigh comes to realize that her childhood "dream" of "Wonderland" was not a dream at all, but an actual memory, and consequentially, that Underland, although a different dimension, is real [like the Upside Down in Stranger Things is an alternate dimension, not a dream].
