I really thought I was the only person, i cant explain sometimes what comes across my mind while listening to songs of Hammock. It feels like somethings grabs me from a nother dimension. This is more than just music, defintely.
Indeed, this music is so profound and soothing, it gives feelings that reach the soul and transports beyond any place; it connects me with memories and sensations that I cannot even explain but somehow I can identify. It is like a dream.

Its the difference between solitude vs. loneliness.

I love this music cause it makes me flow away into every direction, makes me connect with the world around me, the universe and the love. I am so thankful for this deep music makes me plunge into the sea of thoughts, creativeness and inspiration. I think this about getting over depression or grieving over a love one lost. She spent most of her time in the past remembering memories she had with a loved one (dancing scenes) and chooses to remain in the dark as the sun reminds her of the light (love) she had with him/her. When she finally walks into the sun she realizes that this person is with her at all times and she sheds her final tears of grieving knowing that the sun will rise again. Hearing Hammock is like wake up on any given day of your childhood, under a warm blanket in a cool sunday morning of a december in your parents house. As you wakes up you smell the coffe and you're able to hear the laugh your siblings playing near the house and you know that life have given to you a second chance to enjoy every moment and do things in a way that will change the course of your future for better

Get up on your feet and start doing stuff, everything that you feel then/now if its how i described previously then it is wrong! Life is a blink of the eye, always try to minimize regrets, anxiety is only a makeshift mirage that our minds try to fool us with. Always push yourself.

When the ray of sunlight break through her fingers, she recalls of her happy times. Shadows of her fingers which reflect on her face resembles her current situtation, yearning, unhappiness and the pain. Thoughts are coming out as tears. When it's the night, she's looking at the sunset with hope just to find some ray of daylight to escape the night. Shadows of the lamp on the wall shows how many nights she has been through. Then there's a lamp, a light which looks like the sun. That's why she was looking at it. Because that's how she make it to the morning everytime. And there's a black cat on the bridge which is the same color as the night. That's why she never realized him, that's why she didn't show any interest in him during the day. Her head was busy with the thoughts and the ray of sunlight which helps her recall her memories, made her forgot that she's not alone. As the time passes, she lowered her head from the sky with baby steps. When she saw her around, she realized that she's not alone, she has never been... The power of being cared from anything (which she needed that moment) made her smile after a long time. Then she found the lost will of her which leads her to a new beginning...

This reminds me off the feeling I had when I lost both my grandparents within a year, looking into the light remembering the times we had and watching the world pass by without a care about their passing. Hammock engages your emotions and drives you in, just perfect.

To anyone who watched the entire clip, what do you guys think is going on? To me, in my own personal opinion, I think she's looking up at the sky and thinking about how happy she once was. And she's crying because she isn't in that state anymore...
And then in the end, when she's on the bridge with the cat, she stands there and kind of smiles and for some reason, in that moment, it just seemed like she realized that it's okay to be happy.

well, the video is about how she remembers her memories... she has one of the best companion of the world"Nature" . Its like she records each and every memory with the nature.. i mean the sky cause they always have eyes on her.About the crying part.. she always have been alone. Trapped inside herself ...and the ending part, basically Black cat is a symbol of bad luck here its just to show that she is in Depression. They were trying to show depression as a being in the video...and she smiles cause she is used to it.

Glad that you showed interest in the video, that's definitely the purpose of why these writers do this, to give us the free will to think what we want about the film based on our own experience. In my opinion, I think she might have lost someone, I think the cat represents something symbolic but I don't know what. I also think she's showing we should enjoy life even in our darkest hours, because it is in those moments where we find out who we are.
Exactly what this song and video brings to me - how happy i used to be 2 and a half years ago while studying abroad. Departure songs brought all the good in me, happiness, a bit of sadness aswell, knowing that i have to leave all those people behind, and knowing that reality is something different and much less welcoming. To this day i listen to this album, and i can still imagine myself having all those people around me, my then-gf , my best friend and the most amazing sunset in the world in Zadar, Croatia.
It makes sense that it can have a personal interpretation to each. From what I see and feel from it, I can associate it with nostalgia. It starts with the girl sitting there, submerged in her thoughts. She turns over and then a wall is shown, with stains and cracks, quite corroded; this could represent how time passes by and how it can change. She stands up from her idle moment, walks over and watches the sunlight in the horizon, partially covering it with her hand. This reminds her of moments of happiness, bright and pure, just as the light. In her face shadows are contrasted with the light, they portray gloom, and afterwards tears start to shed down her face. She may have experienced moments of sadness and distress at some point. The part of the tunnel represnts the aftermath, in which she is looking upwards, contemplative as she goes through it; moments which marked her life and dimmed part of her previous happiness, but she is still there, going through it. She is delved in her memories, which she has present all the time. She feels a void in herself, as if her life may have lost a meaning. In the bridge she stands and watches the sun set, reaching for the last light while it is slowly turning into dusk. Below are two opposite lanes of cars, which represent how things come and go in life. The shadows cast and passing on the wall could be ghosts of memories. Everything is more quiet and still, just as the music in that part. She stands in the bridge alone, amid the shades, feeling lost. She then watches upwards, where the light comes from; there is still light, there is still a way, and something worth to live for. Then in the bridge the black cat appears and goes on, she fondles it and kind of grins. The cat could represent her depression, albeit it can be transient, and she realizes it. Life continues, along with happiness that can still be sparked.
I viewed this as someone transfixed in a world of beauty, someone so captured in a world of light. Someone going through life a dreamer, with memories that don't matter what order they are in. I saw tears of joy as she looked at the sun. I saw myself looking up at a street light, transfixed in the ultimate feeling of being alive. I saw the shadows on the wall as reality perceived by us humans, and how there is so much more to life than what meets the eye. Hammock I love you.

This song brings memories of my friend Jason . I will never understand why he opted out , I wont ever not be angry that he decided he didnt want to do this anymore . He left such a hole and about the only thing to fill it up with is sadness and regret . We wont ever talk about music anymore or books or Lord of the Rings and all those things that geeks enjoy . I wish he knew how much I loved him . I wish I had told him more . If I could just hold him and beg him to stay . I hope you are at peace my brother . I'm so sorry you found none here .

Sadness can lead to a weird hapiness. I think this song portrays that well. The sounds makes you connect with your inner most feelings memories and thoughts. While those thoughts and feelings can be sad, it makes you feel oddly happy and hopeful about the future by the end.At least that's how I felt. Everyone is different though. I think this just reminds us of our humanity, good and bad.

Wow it's so rare that I find music that truly moves me, and i listen to an unhealthy amount of music. This did. The visuals added to it as well. You know it's good when you're a 22 year old guy and a tear comes out your eye. For me that's a lot lol. You guys are criminally under appreciated. You should really start playing more live shows can people can hear your music.

I guess part of depression is feeling disconnected from your own emotions, because anxiety and hopelessness cover them all. This song is maybe the only thing that breaks through my mood disorders and reminds me of how I truly feel. That distant but constant feeling that's always been at the bottom of your heart every day since the day you were born, like a background sound. Call it nostalgia or melancholy, I don't know.

i hate growing up :( i wish adulthood was as simple as life as a child. this song gives me flashbacks of all the highs and lows in my life and makes me realise how i take the good things in life for granted.. i just hope we can all find love and hapiness someday and our lives will have meaning.
You just read out of my souls... holy shit, this is the thing I was always thinking of when I was hearing this song... I doubt I'll ever be able to completely accept myself as the one I am, because I'm not like I wish to be. I tried for years to change myself, but at the end... you end up stuck in your old self again, receiving awkward reputation from the one's noticing you pretending. Life is a challenge with a beautiful reward... and Hammock the key to translate feelings into music...

This makes me feel like I'm returning from some really good vacations that unfortunately came to an end. I really want to go back to those days but for some reason I just can't, and now I have to deal with being all alone again, like if my own home wasn't my home anymore.

For me tape recorder encapsulates in some way loss of self, or memories from an earlier time. Cold front encapsulates something similar but more focused on loss of another person and the emotions that come with that. Both songs are my favourites by Hammock but truly I love so many of their songs. Its like flashes of memories that hurt in a good but melancholy sort of way, in that I'm reminded of my childhood, and of others; I'm reminded of what once was. Truly a beautiful work of art.

This song is my most favorite. I think this is the nicest melody on the planet. She remembered from the first time its beauty and simple, but it seemed to me so native. It is always some sort of incredible way began to sound from the speakers in the happy moments of my life. Thus, as if reminding me that happiness exists, and right now I am happy. Now I live! With me close for me people, and all well.
When I die, I wish my ashes were scattered to this music on the shore of the sea or the lake, or on top of the mountain. So the wind could blow millions of particles of me around the world.
