    This SSD is fast enough for pretty much anything anyone will ever do with their PC, heck its fast enough to use as your boot drive. Save yourself a boat load of $$$$$ and avoid any P4 .0 SSD, until they drop in price, you will not see any REAL WORLD difference between 3.0 and 4.0 SSD's, remember that software needs to be optimized to take advantage of the faster write and read speeds of the newer 4.0 SSD's. Bought myself the crucial P3 4TB for $200 to add as a second drive, the newer version P4 for the same 4TB costs more than double. heck my pretty much new "a bit over a year old" laptop came with the Micron/Crucial 1TB NVMe 4.0, the speed test looks nice, same as in this video, but in real world performance it's not any different than my older gaming laptop which came at the time with the latest NVMe 3.0, which I believe is the Samsung variant.

    Why does everyone rarely do real world testing. These synthetic , sequential tests only show potential not real world. Copy over a 60GB file or something so we can see what it will perform like in real use!

      I fully agree, if you want I could do some tests on this as I will buy as soon as I can and see how it goes, only thing is I have 2 HDD and one SSD which is as slow as an HDD as it doesn't really go any higher than 110/120mbps...

      I just bought the one tb version, and it took about seven minutes to copy a 53.6 gb file from my HDD. All cards on the table, I'm running ubuntu 22.04.2 on an hp pavilion 15 with 16 gigs of ram (Eight of which I just added during the same upgrade.)

    • @lowrivera
      @lowrivera Год назад +1

      @@pie46733 that’s because of the slow read speeds off the HDD. Practically they top off at 160MB/s.

    • @pie46733
      @pie46733 Год назад +2

      @@lowrivera fair, but it was still much faster than when I moved the same file from that same hard drive to the SSD I replaced. (The HDD is where I had to relegate my game files due to my old SSD only being 128 gb) though that improvement was likely do to the upgrade from SATA to NVMe. All I meant was that, so far, it's been a much faster drive than the one that came in my laptop.

    make sure to check motherboard compatibility for gen 4 if you go that route.
    If you are looking to upgrade, your machine is a couple years old, and might not support gen 4 if you are considering it.

    4:14 that’s because of the decimal vs binary measuring system think of it like kilometers vs miles windows uses decimal which is 1024 megabytes = 1 gigabyte while Linux and Mac OS uses the binary system meaning 1000 megabytes = 1 gigabyte

      yeah it will take ages, I'll be fast for the first TB on the 4 TB model. After that, it will be incredibly slow, slower than even SATA HDD thanks to that garbage qlc storage. I guess for games it is okay, it was an impulse buy for me. Should have paid like 5€ more and gotten an SSD with TLC. The slowest sustained speed is then at least like 10 times faster than on the P3.
