There's something so warm and inviting about commercials from this era. Thank you so much for posting these. Also... 28:58 - Ah, Barbie and the Rockers. This was from the time period where Mattel felt threatened by the popularity of the Jem toy line from Hasbro, so they needed to compete. I don't know if Barbie and the Rockers ever became as popular as Jem, but at least Barbie can take comfort in knowing that Hollywood never made a horrible movie about her...
yusakug there are plans for a feature film about Barbie that is meant to be released in theaters. Don't remember if they have a release date for it yet.
Does anyone remember where they were when they heard the news of his passing? I was volunteering at a local hospital in Cardio-Pulmonary rehab and heard the news on the radio.
This is easily the best video you've put out so far! Willard Scott FTW! It's weird seeing Jim and Kermit together. The modern parades just don't seem the same to me.
I love that Snuggle balloon! I'm one of the weirdos that think he's cute. Speaking of cute, I LOVE that Dear Foams commercial! Give me ANYthing with a cute, cuddly kitty in it and I'm going to love it. I've been on a bit of a "Muppet Kick" lately, and I LOVE seeing footage of Jim Henson and his creations. The man was a genius and he left us too soon.
I didn't have Osh Kosh B'gosh cloths. I had Toughskins. When you fell and scraped your knee on the driveway, the concrete didn't skin your knee the jeans did. Osh Kosh was for pansies. LOL
Thank you for this! What memories! I love how as soon as the video starts, it says: Les Miserables Patrick Swayze Snuggle If that isn't so 1987, then I don't know what is! :)
AMAZING set here! Pierce Brosnan WAS Remington Steele at this time, remember, almost like a grooming period for James Bond! The Atari XE was nothing more than a console-ized computer from their 8-bit family. It had nothing new to offer against Nintendo. I wonder if those Tyco racing sets that were wall mounted and upside down actually delivered the same action we saw in the ads. I had a 1987 Hess truck! As well as the 1988 version with a mini race car!
DanZero77 Pierce was actually cast for the role of Bond in the 80s but had to decline because he was doing Remington Steele so they gave Timothy Dalton the role
I think this was the year I noticed there were some changes in the route and the sponsors, and it threw me off a little. There was a store in the background that changed, and one of the usual annual sponsors either stopped having commercials or stopped having the same commercial it had for several years. The McDonald's ice skating commercial isn't in this clip, so this might have been the year it stopped showing.
The McDonalds ice skating commercial aired into the early 90s. I still wish they aired vintage holiday commercials like that. I mean it still promotes McDonalds and of course for us it's very nostalgic
speaking of "a different world," a friend, whom i follow on twitter, has a petition with over 2300 supporters and counting, which also has an article about it on HBCU buzz, she is trying to have a reboot brought back to TV, which we really need! so if you're a fan of the show, please go to Twitter, and support! the page is @ADWCast, and the petition is on the top of the page! she also has a team in this effert, @RebootADWTeam. please follow them both, spread the word and help us out!
Thank you more than I can express for loading this program fully with commercials! It is priceless!
This isn't the full parade
Nobody says this was the full parade

It didn't even have Pizazz and the other Misfits until the very end. A TRAVESTY.
It’s 2022 and I’m watching this instead of the actual Macys day parade lol ty for this :)
When they actually showed the parade! Love and miss it!
I wish Jim Henson was still around. :(
Thanks for uploading this. It's pretty fantastic.
The ending of "A Muppet Family Christmas" always hits me like a freight train: ruclips.net/video/ojtGHXsTXmU/видео.htmlm54s
Does anyone remember where they were when they heard the news of his passing?
I was volunteering at a local hospital in Cardio-Pulmonary rehab and heard the news on the radio.
I was in kindergarten at the time and my teacher told the class.
I think my mom showed me the article in the paper?
Oh my God the little kids trying to say 'Oshkosh B'Gosh' are aggressively cute 😍
I wish I saw this parade at the age of 13 in 1987!
It's amazing how many of these commercials make me feel so emotional!
R.I.P Jim Henson and Robert Stack, Living Legends Never, Ever Die.
Don't forget Patrick Swayze.
“Emmanuel Lewis rides a snail”....I’m in
An American tradition that I love.thank you for posting
Oh that snuggle bear is just so cute!
Awe, I was five years old! I want to go back in time so bad. I don’t care if I have to re-live my awkward early teen years again!
The James Bond Diet Coke commercial.😄 Patrick Swayze looks so young and healthy. 😥
Worst Ninja's Ever btw (Atleast when it comes to Commercials)
This is easily the best video you've put out so far! Willard Scott FTW! It's weird seeing Jim and Kermit together. The modern parades just don't seem the same to me.
This was a fun look back in time at what would've been my seventh Thanksgiving. Thanks for posting! I enjoyed it.
Yeahhh! Thank you! I didn't want to end this year without hearing "coming up next, Emmanuel Lewis rides a snail"
"Barbie and the Rockers!" You mean Jem and the Holograms? She's even wearing Jem's outfit.
Barbie and the Rockers was Mattel's response to Hasbro's Jem line. They were different properties.
@@80sCommercialVault I know lol I was just making fun of Mattel.
I remember the OshKosh commercial being in very frequent rotation for several years of the '80s Macy's parades.
wonkydude1 They were one of the main financer of the parade in the 80's.
of course Willard would love Ronald considering Willard Scott was the first Ronald McDonald.

We have that Macy's Snoopy sitting in my living room right now! He lost his hat somewhere along the way, though.
700 clown parade! Thanks for the nightmare fuel.
Great memories!! Thanks for the upload. I missed the parade this year, it was a bummer.
What a *fantastic* surprise. :D And Happy Thanksgiving~
I didn't have Osh Kosh B'gosh cloths. I had Toughskins. When you fell and scraped your knee on the driveway, the concrete didn't skin your knee the jeans did. Osh Kosh was for pansies. LOL
My first Thanksgiving! :)
Mine too! 😄👍
Mine as well! :D Only a few months old at the time, but it still counts!
This was *technically* my first Thanksgiving. I was still cooking ;). I made my arrival in June 1988.
RIP Jim Henson
Thank you for this! What memories!
I love how as soon as the video starts, it says:
Les Miserables
Patrick Swayze
Snuggle
If that isn't so 1987, then I don't know what is! :)
He's got spider web rays coming out of his hands! He's looking for Octopus The Green Goblin!
This was my first Thanksgiving!
Willard freakin Scott! Macy’s parade staple!
Ahhh the Macy's Day Parade. I got to participate in one.
REALLY?!
Yes I worked for macy's and they would ask employees to walk the parade
Yes, I had a good time. I walked next to a float with Earth, Wind and Fire
13:37 And he's looking for Octopus: The Green Goblin.
happy thanksgiving
It's great watching these, omg I was 9 at the time, so cool to see the old commercials!
godbless that little yorkie in the glove commercial. "THEY MATCH TOOTISE!"
I really adore Willard Scott's Spiderman intro, lol. Too bad he wasn't around to narrate one of the movies.
"Still around" as in..alive? Because he's still alive, he's in his 80's
Well you know it's just he's pretty much retired now.
happy thanksgiving. 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗
...But nevermind the clowns! Lol, that was abrupt. ;) Awesome collection though!
isotoner gloves, the perfect gift to practice your fake smile with
Holy crap that Egg McMuffin is enormous!
I paused for a screenshot! Holy crap indeed!

Garfield THE KIND OF CRABBY
34:20 You don't have to be so coy, Willard.
THe COsby show episode was a rerun from 12/6/84
39:42 - Uh, that Boy Scout looked a bit uncomfortable there, Ben...
They match tootsie! 💚💚💚
Oh no... NOT THE 700 CLOWNS!! RUN!!!!!!!!!! No. Seriously, why are they here?!
Luke Perkins I know, clowns are creepy!
The snuggle bear, built by muppet builder Kermit Love.
5:57 Atari XE, much more than just a simple gaming system like the Nintendo.
Yeah they sure showed Nintendo didn't they
Dang, I want to find the name of that song the barbie singers were performing.
Robert Patrician reaching for the stars from Barbie's two part movie.
Jem and the holograms should have been there not Barbie and the rockers
Woody Woodpecker! 💖💖
700 clowns on the parade route???? White meat….dark meat….all will be carved.
Mama's Boy-yet another short-lived NBC show
Barbie & The Rockers-cash-in attempt to try and get the Jem and The Holograms fans..?

Ow, that was painfully 80s.
