Today marks the start of the 2016 "Commercials of Christmas Past" Marathon, my biggest ever! A new commercial volume uploaded every day until Christmas! Enjoy!
Awesome!!! It'll be like one of those kid's advent calendars, but instead of crappy candy in each day's cubbyhole, it will be tasty vintage commercials. I can't say enough good things about this turn of events.
They were hard on batteries, so as a kid, I learned the hard way that you can't make a wall adapter with a regular cord and a headphone jack spliced together.
I had that one too and later I also had one made by Tudor i.imgur.com/OKeUyLT.jpg Also had a calculator watch but I'm not sure if it's the model number (C-80) shown in the commercial. Ha, Mike! Now that's what I call hot-wiring. In high school, I had taken Electronics and Electrical during my Junior (3 hrs of class) and Senior (2 hrs) years. Had some fun experiences while in class.
Rolland Smith was a huge fixture in New York, staying at WCBS till the mid 80s, then later had two stints at WWOR Channel 9. "Firing Flash Gordon, at 11." 1980 Lady? That was a jingle that wouldn't last long. Harrow's and Two Guys, memories man.
1:02 - Santa's looking a little green...I guess he got a little too close to the radioactive material buried deep underneath the North Pole... 2:52 - Magic Johnson - Professional basketball player, advocate for HIV awareness, dabbler in the ancient black arts of magic!!! 5:40 - Um...It kind of looks like the animators got a bit of inspiration from Tim Curry with the Dracula design... 6:47 - Oh, I would have loved to have seen that review of the Flash Gordon movie. That wasn't exactly a critic's favorite back in the day, though Roger Ebert had fun with it, and give it 3 stars. 8:29 - She's a 1980s lady!!...Underpaid, underappreciated, and usually objectified by her male co-workers...
Levitz-the store here in my state was hit by many a robbery back then.. Next on The Incredible Hulk-maybe they shouldnt have"turned off the juice".. Ladies Man-CBS's version of Barney Miller..? Wesson Oi commercial- 8( (also RIP to James Garner(re:Polaroid ad) Two Guys-nice looping of that video lol
Also, the guy in the inset of the Black & Decker Workmate commercial is actor James Hampton www.imdb.com/name/nm0358996/ who was Scott's (Michael J. Fox) dad in Teen Wolf among many memorable movies.
I think that's former Dallas Cowboy Bob Lilly. He and James Hampton look very much alike, but note the slight Texas accent. Lilly played collegiately at Texas Christian.
80sEric I just put my over-the-ears headphones on and listened again. You're right, I stand corrected. I watched one of the older B&D commercials before I made my initial comment but didn't have my headphones on at the time. I remember Bob Lilly from the tail-end of career, I was a little young but recall him.
I think I saw the McDonald's Gift Certificate commercial in an older volume or maybe a separate video for itself, don't why I brought all that up though nice to see it. The "barber" in it around 2:16 looks very familiar to me. I don't know if this is him: www.imdb.com/name/nm0662238/ but he reminds of the actor I linked. I recall him from the "Seinfeld" episode "The Package" which Uncle Leo loses his eyebrows in an oven blast and Elaine has a rash.

80sCommercialVault you're like how TV/Radio does it! this is like your "all-christmas" format!
Mike Troncin true as well! i had compared this as if it were those formats on TV or radio, where it's all christmas until christmas day.
Omg. The Raggedy Ann and Andy Christmas special, I forgot about that one!
i had that mattel electric football game i loved it so much

Whisper to me.....that dude looked....wrong😜😜😝😝😝
You won't love it at Levitz anymore
Now I hear people complain about $100 the way that lady in the Chef Boyardee ad did about $12.

A delicious hot meal with meat at a price you can afford.
03:22 - hadn't noticed Sean young's wonky eye before... Maybe she had it corrected
Ooooooh, look at that! Sean must had that fixed!
04:39- if this little town organizes a singing, clapping jamboree to extol the virtues of hand lotion, I wonder what they do for real holidays

I posted an earlier, alternate version of it in 70's Vol. 23 last year: ruclips.net/video/ssx2YA1MGYQ/видео.htmlm12s
Ah, yes. That's it and a year has already pass quickly. Thank you for finding it. Merry Christmas.
That's him! You have a good eye!
MsFarzee
Thanks for confirming! Had an inkling it was him and felt I had seen him while watching TV with my dad back before I was teen.
Bob Russell, Uncle Buck's brother, in that Vaseline lotion commercial.
