The announcement at 10:55 is a work of art. Philly 57 is my favorite station, and a lot of that is the absolute perfection of Kim Martin’s voiceover work. In 30 seconds he thanks the viewer for watching, teases tomorrow’s movie, namechecks himself(VERY few US stations let the announcers do this), namechecks the station, and warmly invites us to stay tuned for the next show. You rarely saw such warm continuity BACK THEN, let alone today!
80sCommercialVault Yeah, I'm very familiar with Harmony Gold, I just didn't think they went back that far. I thought they started it back in the early to mid 90's.
I remember shopping at Lady Bug store in the 1980s, at the old Willingboro Plaza in NJ. I spent quite alot of money there in my teens. I remember when the store and that mall closed...😥.
If "Rosie: The Rosemary Clooney Story" aired "tomorrow night" (11:00) and that movie was on Friday at 8 pm (11:55) then these would have aired on Thursday, Dec. 28, 1989.
Ok, thanks. I was looking hard on Google for an old TV listing from the Philly area to figure out when these aired and gave up. I didn't realize all the clues I needed were in here.
I loved Remote Control. I didn't know it was syndicated, though. I always watched it on MTV. I even liked the crummy Nintendo game they made. Also loved April O'Neil.
Krass Bros-"I get all choked up ugggh..." They must have been told t o go easy on him lol Holiday-wouldnt mind having a membership at that gym XD Remote Control-R.I.P Ken Ober Real Confessions-probably more like "RECORDED CONFESSIONS...RECORDED CONFESSIONS..RECORDED CONFESSIONS"
0:30 - How is this supposed to make anyone buy a suit? Seriously, this is the most messed up thing I've ever seen on this channel, and that's saying something. 4:43 - No, Kirk, what makes you "uncool" is your woeful ignorance and dismissal of other people and religions outside of your own. 4:50 - Looks like they had a sale on Peter Pan and Robin Hood costumes...
He judges people and tells them how right he is and how wrong you are... He became a HOT MESS when he Became a Born Again or whatever he is calling himself today.
TRUE CONFESSIONS. Krass Bros. is a Philadelphia institution. That guy probably did thousands of those short ads. TRUE CONFESSIONS. Combined Broadcasting bought the stations of Grant Broadcasting, all with the same branding as Philly 57 such as WGBO in Chicago. TRUE CONFESSIONS.

04:28 - "I don't want to tell you how to live your life.." Boy, he sure changed that policy...
LOL I was just about to say the same thing.
5:19 I was always fascinated by that commercial --- the snow part...it looked cool.
Philly 57 was a fantastic replacement of Philly's beloved WTBS TV 48. Their programs and movies were very good and they broadcasted Flyers games.
It's so trippy seeing Dragon Ball on TV from '89.
0:40 - I remember when Princess Furniture would lose its lease at least once a year. Even as a kid, I knew it was a scam.
Wow! I didn't know Dragon Ball was being shown in the States back in '89?!

These are some weird ads to play during a Dragon Ball commercial break.
It was just the eight o'clock movie on this station, this was years before it was aired as a cartoon series in the U.S.

There's was a American Appliance in our neighborhood in New Jersey behind Taco Bell and near the High School 15 minutes near Philly.
Would you believe my cat reacted to that Krass Brothers commercial?
Cats are very perceptive to the sounds of dying rodents
80sCommercialVault Lol. And she was sleeping at the time, too.

Kirk has rubbed everyone the wrong way in the last 25 years.
tdrewman so, by him professing Christianity he has "rubbed everyone wrong"?.......hmmmm.

Kirk Cameron doing an anti-drug PSA is like Charles Manson doing a PSA against littering. Sure, he doesn't do it, but he's done worse shit.
