The toys r us commercial just killed me I still can't imagine this world without a true toy store or Saturday morning cartoons at that... I feel so sad for kids now a days
1:15 - "He was suave, debonair, he used oil on his air!" It's funny the lines that stick with you, even when you've long forgotten where they came from. Now I know!
Man, do I remember this broadcast! I was in first grade and on Xmas break, of course. It was 6 days left until Christmas, and remember watching this while my Mom and Grandma were doing last minute shopping. This was the year that I first became familiar with the Christmas wish book and started pointing toys out to my Mom and Grandparents that I wanted for Christmas. One of my gifts was the Darth Vader Collector's Case, Star Wars action figures, Mini Pinball Machine, and few other things. Oh I got the C3PO Doll and R2D2 with a remote clicker. Yeah, Xmas 81 was definitely a memorable childhood for me.
Wow, a holiday extravaganza of commercials! The Frosted Flakes was my favorite. Tony is usually so serious and competitive, it's fun to see him being a little silly here. I didn't know about that Chipmunks holiday special. I suppose it was the precursor to their 80s series.
Thank you for this entire Christmas set. I loved them all, especially the volumes set around the first airing of the Simpsons Christmas Special. Congrats on almost hitting 500 with your 80s videos. Looking forward to the memories the year ahead has in store!
I was 3 and a half when this came out. I loved the Richie Rich & Scooby Doo hour. I remember those strawberry shortcake minatures too. My cousin had them & I wanted them so bad.
man I remember fast ones! I remember having one as a kid.... that's something you never see anymore die cast cars with real state license plates.... man toys were so much better back then! (in most cases, I'm sure there's toys that weren't quite there because of technology limitations)
Holy Moly! I remember just about every one of these! Although, I don't think I've *ever* heard of "Leprechaun's Christmas Gold". But I could remember seeing commercials for cartoon shows I've never seen, such as "The Richie Rich Scooby Doo Show (and Scrappy Too)" and (maybe) "Goldie Gold / Thundarr The Barbarian". I can also remember when Tony the Tiger didn't say "They're GRRREAT!" Instead, it was... -> 11:19 I've actually eaten that cereal and liked the taste of it! The "Dough Nuts" segments I might have seen but I didn't think I was paying attention to what the narrator was saying. 15:05 I've seen that once while being busy with whatever the heck I was doing, which could explain why I don't know the song... until now.
I grew up in the D.C. area with ABC affiliate WJLA channel 7 and sometimes we would watch the Baltimore ABC affiliate WJZ 13's Saturday morning programming because there would be local kid stuff on and I SWEAR I have not seen "Kids Baffle" since it aired all of those years ago! I was a bit ahead academically, as a child, and I loved to watch question and answer game shows THIS one escaped my mind completely and thought I remembered that kind of stuff! Again, so happy to see it.
Knew i should have held on to my Vader Collector's Case,it probably wouldve sold well on Ebay.. Goldie Gold & Action Jack-with all the lame reboots Hollywood is planning down the line this would be perfect for Comedy Central Waffelos-Maple flavor would have you making a dentist appointment lol
Darn. I was born Dec.19, 1982. A year later than these. I was wondering why I had never seen these. Oh well. They are still awesome and not much different than the ones I remember years later.
Jeffdraws I remember school starting earlier and earlier in the 80s...by the 90s my first class started at 7, and that was after an hour bus ride, so my day started at 5am. And that was after going to bed around 11-12 (Spending all night studying/doing homework) No time for breakfast. Kids today have it even worse...I don't know how they do it.
I missed the '80s altogether (I was born in 1991), but I love both this collection and the '70s one... keep up the awesome work, 80sCommercialVault! Looking forward to your next entries!

1981 was far out, man. Merry Christmas!
I remember all those commercials from when I was in the first grade.
02:32 "oh boy I finally got a full screen close-up!!! I'll be rich! I'll be famous! Everything's comin' up Dengar!!"
This video is pure gold. Thanks for the memories.

Oooh goody! A Strawberry Shortcake commercial I haven't seen yet!
DreamDancer82 I still have most of my collection, I was addicted to those miniatures!
Banana Frosted Flakes sound quite good. They ought to bring that back.

Holy crap I remembered that Boy Scout commercial vaguely but for some reason it looked different in my head from when I was a kid

Same here
Ronald sure had a rocking band.
Wafflos was great! The maple flavored one came with a waffle syrup.
The mail order add amuses me. As it has not changed a whole lot even online. Ever been on Wish? lol
Banana Frosted Flakes? I have zero memory of that.
2:59 Arte Johnson from Laugh-In. Verrrry Interesting

I remember Goldie Gold, she was a Barbie 007
Kids skipping breakfast was an epidemic. Or maybe they were just like tying to push breakfast cereal.

Makse sense. I hadn't thought of kids that live far from school or have a large workload.
My older brother was only eight months old and my older sister was eight.
Jeffery didn't make a bad purchase. At two dollars, that's a good price for a toy boat.
But he apparently thought he was going to get a 60-foot yacht.
Super Bear makes me uncomfortable

Banana Frosted flakes? I don't remember that one growing up...???
Glamour Girl 212 I do,it didn't last long. They brought it back briefly in the 90s.
9:31 By Mt. Airy do they mean Mt. Airy NC?
No, it's referring to Mount Airy Middle School in Mount Airy, Maryland...the state where this was recorded
