We had the 88-90 Spectaculars recorded on VHS and they're still at my parent's house. I'm pretty sure they reused the two NKOTB performances for the 1990 one as well.
New Kids on the Block, Willard Scott, Gretchen Carlson as Miss America, the Mouseketeers of the 1989 and 1990s version and Sandi Patty. Definitely something for everyone in Disney's July 4 celebration.
WPGH was my Fox station in the 90s. We got Pittsburgh and Johnstown/Altoona market stations, but our cable company removed Pittsburgh stations in 2000.
The lettering for WPGH looked very much like KVVU in a previous volume here - turns out Meredith Broadcasting owned both stations in the late 80s! But good lord those Spiffits.... Happy 4th!
100% Florida Grapefruit Juice- Interesting to see that in addition to his comic strip and the animated series, "Garfield And Friends" among the things he does, Garfield the Cat got a side gig as the announcer for this commercial. His voice and the animation combined make this commercial very charming. I wonder if Garfield himself ever drank grapefruit juice.
The animation is by the great Jim Jenkins of "Doug" fame from Nickelodeon. Having Lorenzo Music as the voice-over for a super-chill Doug is a mega-collab!
Did anyone ever really win millions from Publishers Clearing House? Rip Ollie Woodson, then lead singer of the legendary Temptations. Kinda extreme for a potato chip commercial, go to the store! RIP actress and singer Denise Mathew’s aka Vanity from Vanity 6 and from the movie 52 Pickup ..
Honestly, I think Disney could do better for "The Princess and the Frog" than just retheming Splash Mountain. Give P&tF a more original ride. If you're gonna retheme Splash Mountain, just make it Country Bears-themed. Just my two cents.
@@80sCommercialVault Yeah, I forgot that happened in the '80s. (I don't know why I thought it was late '70s) Things are still pretty scary over there to this day
The Splash Mountain re-theme is a bad idea. Tiana's restaurant in New Orleans Square makes way more sense and seems more interesting. The Princess and the Frog isn't very popular and hasn't been since its release. There are many good things about the movie, but it's not as iconic as Splash Mountain is. Splash Mountain is the pinnacle of Disney Imagineering.

Wow! I almost forgot about that one 😅
Catch all three, and you win! What a great way to make kids eat lol

Everyone? Not much to get excited about with that lineup.
Where in this video were The Mouseketeers? I never could find them.

@@yo420ia Agree totally. Thank you very much for the information. :)
@28:15 I remember this commercial. And then the announcer said if you capture all three, you win! But there was never no prize to win lol..
I appreciate everything you do man. Every video an absolute treasure. Happy 4th of July to ya!
29:46 - Random pirate possession is a common occurrence at Long John Silver's...
4:56 - Despite what this commercial says, I refuse to believe clowns have families. They are spawned from the deepest pits of the unholy evil.
R.I.P. Splash Mountain...
Sears did dental, too??? Crazy!
That's what the world is missing right now. A great place to get a root canal, a suit, family portrait AND a set of tires. Sears was great.
