  • The LA Clippers season is over. It came crashing down in Dallas with Kawhi Leonard in street clothes for the 4th consecutive season. They were once the #1 seed and now they are out in the first round.
In this episode, a dejected and frustrated die hard Los Angeles Clippers fan and Host Darian Vaziri reacts to the season ending. He also talks about the details of the game, how the Clippers lost control of it, and how the stars went out.

In 2020, Dallas played most of the series without their second best player, lost in 6. Yet I have rarely heard that context from Clipper fans to help explain why they won that series. Thats because you play the opponent lining up on the other side and not the "on paper" version.
The bigger story is how much has changed. The finesse team vs the power team in 2020 flip flopped in this series.
When the Clippers went bonkers from 3, they held their own and won two games. That was the only way theu could compete with this year's Mavericks.

I completely agree with everything you’ve said. However, I somewhat disagree with Ty Lue as the coach. I feel like he did a very poor job this whole year with the way he didn’t give more rest to James, Paul and Kawhi throughout the season so as to prevent injuries like Kawhi and burnout like James and PG when we needed them most in the playoffs; like getting Bones, Brandon Boston and Theis more minutes in each game where it wasn’t super close so our older stars could get some rest and keep The Young bloods engaged and develop as well. I felt like he relied too heavily on James and our stars to run the offense and letting them do what they wanted to which in the end, left them tired and injury prone as a result. So many times they seemed like they were disorganized or the rotations/matchups were poorly used or questionable at best. In short, I think he relied too much/overused our stars in the regular season to try and get a better seed, but ended up backfiring in the end with Kawhi getting hurt and James and Paul looking tired and unengaged when we needed them most. And also the rest of the team seem disengaged as well not getting many minutes.
And I don’t see why he didn’t at least try to throw the very athletic Kai Jones to battle Lively and Gafford as well as use Theis more. They just seem so much more athletic than us and I think adding the very long and athletic Kai Jones and a hustler like Theis would’ve helped spark some energy and athleticism in our team. But he didn’t even try.
I like Ty Lue as a person and I know he has coached very well in the past, but I don’t think he’s done very well for the Clippers the last couple years (I know we’ve had really difficult injuries with our stars to deal with) but he uses too many excuses to why we lose and look so horrible often times. The intensity of the players and the way they play usually reflects the coaching.

  • @endah08
    @endah08 18 дней назад

Few thoughts and then looking forward:
    Lineups:
Again, why no Theis? To me, he's just more versatile than Russ or Plumlee so he gives a lot of flexibility to the lineups. Russ is not good off-ball, don't play him off-ball. I would like to have seen a bench lineup with Russ, Powell, Coffey, PG, and Theis. Obviously, it's a small-ball lineup but you're not giving up too much size and you can give Harden a rest, let Russ handle a bit or don't play him.
I would like to have seen, at some point this season, a lineup with Harden, PG, Kawhi, Theis, and Zu. I'm not saying it would have been amazing but it's worth a shot to see if it could be a useful tool when you're up against a team like the Mavs who dominated the interior especially when the Clips were without Zu.
    PG:
I love PG but it might be time for him to go. For better or for worse, the Clips are locked into Kawhi, and having another older and injury-prone secondary star just isn't going to cut it, pair that with PG's bizarre inconsistency (and it is bizarre) and it just doesn't make sense. I do think we should appreciate him as a defender and I do think it gets missed a lot just how good he still is on that end but that's not worth a max deal. If you could resign him for 2 years at $60-65 million? Yeah it's probably still worth it but no way can he be given a max.
It's so frustrating cause every once in a while he comes out and plays like an MVP, but then disappears like a role-player. His growing dependence on 3-pointers is infuriating too.
If you can resign him could you trade him for someone like OG Anunoby or Mikail Bridges, what about RJ Barrett? Obviously with some other compensation.
    Player development:
I think time investing in Zubac, Coffey, and Bones will be valuable. They won't all hit but it's worth a try, Zu clearly has the makings of one the best bigs in the league. Bones has a lot of talent and athleticism along with length that could make him a solid guard defender if he puts in the effort and there's clearly potential for a great shooter in there.
Coffee just needs more reps and he'll become a solid role player and those turnaround jumpers suggest he might be able to have some pop as a scorer in future.
    Russ:
He makes so little that it doesn't seem necessary to trade him or waive him but man, he has to get less minutes. He either runs a bad team or he barely plays, he just doesn't work in other settings. This will never happen but, if he wants to extend his career he needs to go watch a lot of GPII footage and become another little big man.

I don't understand starting PJ. One of the big issues in this series has been rebounding, apart from Zu the Clips don't have another strong rebounder in the starting lineup. PJ gets you middling defence, almost no offence, just corner threes and isn't a good secondary rim-protector. So my question is, why not start Theis instead? He's a better defender, better rebounder, better shooter by not being confined to the corners and he's a lob threat. Like at this point do you think PJ is a much better perimeter defender? If he's better, it's not by much and you're giving up all this other stuff.

Thank you Kawai and PG for Shai and JDub and the other picks! Wish us luck! Be nice to Russ and we don’t care about Harden 😂

If both teams were fully healthy I’d still pick the Mavs. They were the best team since the trade deadline. Luka wasn’t himself and you have to acknowledge it.

Yea I agree the Gafford dunk looked like an offensive. Probably would of been if Zu sold it

Hey Dime, is your heart going to be into it next season if the organization brings back the trio of Kawhi, PG, and Harden with Coach Lue?
That seems really tough for you because i know you are not a big fan of the way Harden plays.
I think you should do a segment where you grade the moves made by Lawrence Frank.
The way i see it is the team made a huge trade and did not improve at all....
A first round exit is a first round exit....
The James Harden trade has to at least help the team advance and win a series without Kawhi...
Anyway, i will still check in and help keep the comment section popping...
I don't think Russ will return next season but i will now always have a rooting interest in both The Lakers and Clippers.
I don't care how other Lakers feel or think about....😂
I think The Clippers organization and most of the fans have welcomed Russ and see him as a warrior, an asset, not a liability.
It was just a rough series for him.
I'm watching how Coach Thibs uses Josh Hart and that's what i would like to see for Russ, a head coach that just lets him play 34-40 mins of basketball...
That won't happen with Coach Lue unfortunately...
He did it last postseason because Kawhi and PG were out....
It's been fun chatting with you!
    You really know the game!
I tried to be optimistic about the trade because i don't hate James Harden the person but i truly believe Lawrence Frank screwed up a potentially good thing....
Oh well....enjoy the offseason and i look forward to seeing your offseason clips!

It's not only about health this team. They are getting older.

Load manage works for Kawhi, it worked for Pop and it worked for Nurse. The result speaks for itself if you want him playing more regular season games then the risk of getting injured playoff time will be high. I see 90% - 95% of the clippers not built for the playoffs mentally.

You forget, Dallas had a similar problem with Porzee. Chemistry - we were fixing with Kidd, and I am sure we could have. He was an even better fit next to Luka if channeled properly. We moved away from him to Dinwiddie and Bertans, of all people. So having an injury prone star is your problem, and the injury concerns are probably part of the reason he is available for your team. So don't use that lame cop out man.
