I totally get what you are saying about getting anxiety while drawing. A small error can be largely noticable. Have definitely made some mistakes hours into a piece that I regret. It's worth taking your time!
your channel has become a haven for me rich!
There was Some i havent seen before..
Bloody FRANKTASTIC !!!
I had no idea this existed. Now I must have it.
Hooray👏🏻my Favourite Comic book Artist God Bless Bernie Wrightson Hey What is up Rich✌️😎Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo next please
I am going to do them for sure. so it's coming!
@@RichardFriendartist all good Thanks Rich for the videos
Thanks for making this video Rich . I Never get tired of seeing Wrightson's Art . Apparently , there was another dude named Bernie Wrightson , so he dropped the " E " , to try and avoid confusion . Great video Rich . Thanks again
Re: time for completing these types of pieces, its insane how long they actually do take if you try to do a study on them or reproduce or just practice. Some of those pages with all the grass are just mind boggling to think about doing. It takes days to do all the grass and if you try to just speed up or throw lines, you destory it. It'll end up with too much blacks or throw off the lighting or you start overlapping or missing lines. This is all at huge size too. I dread the thought of doing the grass like booth or wrightson now. its ptsd tier 'oh god this is going to be days of my life now' to draw.
Great video, haven’t seen these other drawings
Rich..nice open that book, love your video talks, can't believe it, you know more than me..ba da bing..
hahaha. well maybe not that much! lol. I've just done way more videos. ;)
I'm thinking the podcast is sidebar forever? Sidebar is about lawyers
Thank you again for sharing, lots of fun. My favorite part of your favorite piece is how he casts the shadow of the ground/overhang onto the water and maintains the rain ripples 👌
I’m gonna love this one!
I believe Pete Beard already did a Charles Dana Gibson video
Edit: I stand corrected. Pete Beard included Dana Gibson in one of his 'unsung heroes of illustration' series but he didn't make on solely dedicated to Charles.
I wonder why? ;) hahaa. Just kidding.
Awesome vid , your vids are awesome
These videos are my favorite way to view this beautiful art. I bought a remaindered hardcover of the Stand, just to get the Wrightson illustrations, done in the 80's. As a matter of fact, Nakatomi issued a portfolio of those illustrations as well as one of Bernie's art for King's Cycle of the Werewolf. Many of the unused Frankenstein pieces were in a series of oversize portfolios published by Bernie himself as he was working on the book. They must be worth a fortune now.
oh yeah. can you imagine. I'd guess some have made their way to Heritage...you could get an idea of what they go for but for sure pay attention to the date...some of the auctions might be from a ways back and can give you a skewed perspective.
Amazing draftsmanship
In the letter, mark Wheatley is thanked...I actually had dinner with him and his wife
I just saw this video as I have this book. There is also a version that comes signed and numbered on a bookplate limited to supposed 1200 copies. However I have seen it sold/for sale on eBay as "signed and numbered" using the printed signature found at 4:35 on your video (603/2000). This is found on ALL Lost Frankenstein Pages. It's on mine, it's on yours, it's the same on any found online. If it doesn't have the bookplate it is a true "signed and numbered". So please if bidding on a "signed and numbered, ask for an image of the bookplate.
Frankism.. Bernie good, fire bad..
Another great vid Rich! Ever thought about doing a bigger video on zbrush art? I know you said that you were a fan of sculpting.
oh yeah that would be fun. any artists you want me to check out specifically!
@@RichardFriendartist Maria Panfilova,Rodion Vlasov ,James W. Cain are great
i can feel the burn >:)
You've done so many Wrightson videos, and I never tire of them! haha This was really enjoyable
I know right. we have to keep his name out there. a lot of people discover his work because of these...so I know it's for sure keeping his art on people's minds which is super cool!
@@RichardFriendartist Yes! You're doing the lord's work here! It just takes an image or two and even a newbie has their mind blown... Plus giant fans like me also still enjoy it lol
Wrightson is always welcome. There's only ONE thing that bugs me though: sometimes he draws people's arms way too long
I'll keep an eye on that. I did notice it with the monster but it may just be his "thing"
Excellent video Rich! As an inker what eraser or erasers do you use to keep the inks dark and to get thre pencils off?
👍
Great videos! Where are you getting these files?! Would love a digital copy of this
Have you ever done a video of moebius?
lol. Yes James. Check my channel. ;)
@@RichardFriendartist ok but im pretty familiar with your videos, sounds like something I'd remember
He's done a couple. Check his video file.
@@readhistory2023 I did sat moebius not morbius, before I search you know, right?
@@readhistory2023 he's joking. I told him I have people that will ask "hey do a video on so and so", and then like a day earlier I did that exact video but they never check my channel and generally just ask, instead of searching!.
Are you going to do any more render like wrightson videos.
possibly. I am learning from seeing these honestly...so I'd have a new POV on that stuff now for sure.
@@RichardFriendartist I'm also wondering if you are ever going to do an in depth study on Albrecht Durer?
lets see AI do this:))
