    2:12 That can cause confusion. The Roman Empire didn't fall from all sides until Rome fell. It lost the Western part (and even regained a lot for some time) and the remained a strong empire surviving for almost a millennium.

      The Byzantines were technically still part of the Roman empire and they collapsed in 1453 with the fall of Constantinople. The Romans have been around forever.... Pretty impressive actually.

    You forgot elected boarders like the current boarder between Denmark and Germany. The people living in the boarder area were asked if they felt Danish or German. And then the boarder was made following the people's answers.

    • @isakthememeking6074
      @isakthememeking6074 7 лет назад +17

      You're welcome. After a series of wars, and boarder changes, the nations just decided to let the people choose between the two. As a dane thus is just basic history education.

    • @EmulatedTwontie
      @EmulatedTwontie 6 лет назад +1

      Yes your correct I'm Dutch our name is our land we are the low lands

    • @faramund9865
      @faramund9865 5 лет назад

      I'm pretty sure it's called the Netherlands because it's simply the delta region of a couple rivers. Aka it's the lowest region in Northern Europe. Not necessarily because it's below sea level. A lot of Northern Germany is also "Netherlands" in that way, which is actually reflected in names like "Niedersachsen" = "Lower Saxony" and the German spoken in those regions being "Low German".

    Was happy to see Kaliningrad, my hometown, up until it was shown as a decaying dump. It's not that bad, you are welcome to see for yourself during the World Cup next year :)

    • @kostam.1113
      @kostam.1113 7 лет назад +73

      Kaliningrad is quite nice, although it would be even better if more historic buildings were preserved and renovated.

    • @nugzarmikeladze
      @nugzarmikeladze 7 лет назад +65

      But it was much more beautiful before the World War 2 and had no soviet style buildings in the city center. but I agree that factory in animation was exaggeration.

    • @riverxi
      @riverxi 7 лет назад +33

      Kosta M. right now since we got funding for the World Cup, some buildings are renovated and actually look very nice. But yeah, it's a shame a lot of beautiful places, especially the King's castle, were bombed to nothing

    • @riverxi
      @riverxi 7 лет назад +5

      Nugzar Mikeladze yeah, I didn't say it's more beautiful than it was before of course. Was comparing to the portrayal here

      @samovarmaker9673 7 лет назад

      doesn't make much of a difference then

    • @EpicUnderscoreJdog
      @EpicUnderscoreJdog 7 лет назад

      I live like 2 kilometers from there in canada, and visit it fairly regularly for the nice parks and trails and cheap gas (vs vancouver). Visiting there is a strange experience of feeling far away from the city, yet being very close. It's a unique spot. Still (somehow) very rural though.

    • @EpicUnderscoreJdog
      @EpicUnderscoreJdog 7 лет назад

      It does feel distinctly american though. Lots of weird little trivia about how the only school on the island is K-4, older grade students have to bus to blaine (via canada) for school, and how their services are shared with canada except the providers are referred to by different names (telephone for example) so that it doesn't break the rule requiring american residents to have american services. They do have a volunteer fire dept of their own.

      Ah yes, borders are bad and shouldn't exist. Just look how good it is to remove them at certain points, like in Iraq, Rwanda, Yugoslavia or Libya.

      Key word: ideal. While I definitely appreciate the sentiment and support the dream, I believe our species as a whole currently isn't ready for unification. We'll probably get there eventually, but I suspect most--maybe even all--of the people posting here today will be dead long before it happens.

      IMHO, 2 millenias is the minimum before that happens.
