    Stadiums need to be self funded. The NBA NFL etc should have to fund these stadiums. It’s gross how much tax payer money is used.

    • @ronclark9724
      @ronclark9724 Месяц назад +2

      The stadiums hold no value, only the land they sit on... However, stadiums do provide citizens a place to gather and watch professional sports teams improving their way of life just like a park, swimming pool, or library...

    • @mrljlanier
      @mrljlanier Месяц назад +2

      Why should the leagues pay for it all when the cities are going to also benefit from the stadium being there. When Taylor Swift comes to town because it’s a new stadium and she brings billions of dollars into the area, are you going to say the MLB deserves the money? It’s not a waste of tax dollars, it’s an investment.

    • @bayridgephantom
      @bayridgephantom Месяц назад +1

      @@mrljlanier sports areas, mainly benefit, ungrateful owners, and ungrateful players. When an investor builds, an apartment, house, a factory, or a hotel in your town, you don’t ask the taxpayer to fund that construction, even though those facilities benefit the community more than a sports team ever would. NFL stadiums in particular are horrible investments, standing empty almost the entire year.

    • @mrljlanier
      @mrljlanier Месяц назад +2

      @ if that's true then why are city officials fighting to get teams in their cities? Why do business owners pay more to have their business next to stadiums?

    • @bayridgephantom
      @bayridgephantom Месяц назад +1

      @@mrljlanier it’s a pride thing. Sports fans have big mouths and they convince naïve politicians to sign up to anything.
      The San Francisco Giants tried to get the government to pay for their stadium, the government refused, and they try and paid for it themselves
      The New York Jets tried to hoodwink the government of New York City into building them a free government stadium, the voters were strongly opposed to it, and the Jets wound up footing 50 pct of the cost for a shared stadium in New Jersey at New York City residents can visit anytime they like.
      If the Tampa city politicians are opposed to funding a stadium for the rays, that indicates that those politicians are smarter than most

    Stop using taxpayer money for these money pits. If they would be paid for by the owners and investors, the cost overruns would decrease, the graft would lessen, and the over all scams would be ended.

    St Pete and Pinellas county moaned and groaned and complained and threatened and obstructed the Rays for years when they wanted to look at sites in Tampa, positioning themselves as the only option. When the Rays agreed to the deal they now want to back out? And how dare St Pete complain when the Rays chose to play in Tampa, its the best place to play and still be profitable. St Pete is a selfish spoiled child. The Rays need to make a deal with Tampa and leave St Pete in the rear view

    Hey everybody, I have an idea, let's build a stadium with
    a flimsy retractable roof in hurricane alley.
    What could possibly go wrong (?)
    And to make things even better, let's reduce our coverage
    so, we can save a couple hundred grand on premiums.
    If our gamble fails, we can just threaten to move the team.
    Cuckoo ! Cuckoo !!

    This mayor Welch sucks and that area was supposed to be given back to the blk community it was taken from years ago to build that eye sore of a stadium. Build real affordable housing no more high rise buildings. St Pete has become an horrible place to live.

      They don't own the stadium. They lease it. They should pay to build their own stadium, but the city should be on the hook for repair costs for the current stadium.
