I am very delighted to see that you came up with technical concepts and sharing with us, expect to see more reviews on different devices in future. Keep it up. wish you all the best.
Thank You!
Thank you so much for showing the response time from when you put power to the time it came on in the same frame/shot, I really was looking for this in a video! I was curious as to what the option for adjusting the guidelines looked like as I have a more taller truck, Great video much love!
Thanks for your compliments and I am glad you found it useful. About the guidelines I wasn't too impressed because unlike the real ones which are installed by the car manufacturer's these guidelines don't bend right and lift to tell you where your vehicle is headed if you go reverse. These are simple overlay, or fake lines and it hardly predicts the actual path your reverse course will take you.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 nice simple no crap video, thank you.
with the guide lines it would be impossible to have the move like the car manufactured ones as there are connected to the steering i guess, i guess that they are still good as when they have been setup to the car/trailer or caravan they will still give you some idea as to where the rear corner or your vehicle is heading, just not predicted route of path. have you done a video of the wireless rear cam that does not need any wires to it as i would not want to drill any holes etc . thanks again
@@stehume No problem, so I haven't done any videos on the wireless camera system yet, but I did hear from people that this one is pretty good www.ebay.com/itm/394060010666 Keep in mind though that even with a wireless camera system you still need to run the power cables to the camera, only the video is transmitted wirelessly.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 many thanks
This is the BEST video I have come across. You answered all the questions I had and listed compatible GPS. Also you explained about the power cord needing the reciever in order to see Backup camera.
I appreciate the info.
Thank you so much for your kind encouragement and positive feedback, I am glad that you found it useful to you.
An excellent Tutorial explained in simple terms. Thank you for your video.
You are very welcome!
Hey, Thanks for taking the time to make this. Very helpful I like how you explained the install. 5Stars!!!!
Thank You!!
Made more sense than a Garmin-made vid I watched! Thanks.
Great to hear, thanks

Can a second camera be added to have a right side view while driving and also a view of the rear while driving?
Unfortunately not, the receiver cable will only sync with one camera. For that you need to get aftermarket dual den stereo. For example Kenwood DNX997XR
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thanks for responding!
@@edscsced6159 You are very welcome!
Thank you! Ignore my comment asking for this! Your home is beautiful! I have the same black chair.
You are very welcome, and thanks for the compliments, you have a great taste in chairs ;-)
That’s a blue screen background inside view of someone’s house but I doubt it’s his. Look at the blurring around his body and the chair he’s sitting in. If you watch other videos when he’s not in his workshop but sitting in his chair, the backgrounds are images edited into blue screen format. He’s very good at explaining and repairing things and I like his content, but he should have been up front about it not being his home.Of course, he could easily prove me wrong by posting a video of him walking around in that room behind him with that cool chair and I would immediately apologize for my statement…IWHMB
Very well explained.Thats the way how to do it on yt.Bravo.
One thing you can add. What hapend in dark.Is the camera have IR vision? Becouse we dont see any led
Thank you for your kind compliments, unfortunately it doesn't have any Infrared night vision. Also the night video quality is very poor even in a well lit parking lot.
Thank you
@@spacex2323 My pleasure!
Thanks very informative video, however I have a question. I Drive a pickup/utility and was wondering how long are the wires that connect to the reverse lights from the transmitter?
Cheers.
No problem, so the wires are not that long, but you can easily extend them with any standard cable.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Sorry to ask another question, what is the total length when the camera is connected to the transmitter. I am trying to determine if the transmitter will reach into the cab of the utility/pickup I drive when the camera is fixed to the rear licence plate.
Thanks.
@@Rufus761 It should reach the front cab of a Utility Truck, but the signal will not reach very clearly if it's a long extended bed truck with 4 door cab and a middle seat.
Thanks for the tutorial. Have been searching for a BC30 to my DriveSmart 51 LMT-D, no success yet since they're discontinued. But I did find the receiver cable for sale in some webshops. Now, the question is: do I really need the BC30-receiver cable or do my original lifetime traffic receiver cable for Drivesmart 51 receive the signal from the BC30 when I connect it to the reverse light?
You seem to be the right person to answer my question. Thanks in advance!
/From Sweden
Greetings, yes you must have the BC30 cable because the normal traffic receiver cable such as GTM60 does not have the Video Receiver circuit inside. That is why the BC30 cable has a bigger rectangular block in the middle than the GTM cables.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 - Thanks a lot for your quick respond! Then I'll order the complete package! Love your channel! Keep it up!
@@tammerstedt Thank you, I will 🙂
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 - Thanks a lot! 🙂
great vid. my garmin has the traffic feature and the antennae for that is in the dc plug that goes into the cigarette lighter. if I use this cameras plug then I will lose my traffic transmitter function?
Unfortunately yes you will lose that feature unless the traffic receiver is inside the GPS instead of being in the power cable.
This is from the BC 30 Wireless Backup Camera Installation Instructions:
“NOTE: The BC 30 receiver cable includes a traffic receiver. If your GPS device includes lifetime traffic, the traffic features continue to function while using the BC 30 receiver cable.”
Hello. Thank you for the video. Very interesting. Can you please tell me if Garmin BC series rear view cameras can be connected to the Garmin Montana 700 navigator? Thank you. (Google translator)
You are welcome, The Garmin Montana 700 is not in the compatible devices list unfortunately. Here is the list of what is covered www.garmin.com/en-US/p/501486#devices
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thank you so much for information.

Thank you, and I hope you will own a car very soon ;-)
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 haha not very needed , in my country cars are too expensive and public transport is very reliable . not a car dependant country
Please recommend a dedicated 12v power source for this camera transmitter. Thank you
You can Hardwire it directly to the car battery by using this adapter www.ebay.com/itm/144349704821
So if you wanted to use multiple cameras, would you have to hard wire them into the wireless unit?
Unfortunately the Wireless unit only supports one camera. So you need to get other vehicle camera system to have multiple cameras. Also this camera's video quality is very bad and a disgrace to the Garmin brand.
Could I use this as a forwarding face camera ..I want to put it on front grille so when I park I don't hit my front bodykit as my car is lowered and some kerbs are high
Yes you can, but for that you have to do the option of not connecting the reverse light cable. Meaning you will simply connect the camera to your ca power and access is from the GPS screen. You can even access it while the car is on the road and you see a bump or a hole on the street that you want to avoid.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thank you for quick reply ..just ordered one ... in uk we have alot of high kerbs and speed bumps
@@tjay6279 You are very welcome
By using the power source provided with the BC-30. Did it work with your traffic location?
Unfortunately this does not have any Traffic Receiver on it.
This is from the BC 30 Wireless Backup Camera Installation Instructions:
“NOTE: The BC 30 receiver cable includes a traffic receiver. If your GPS device includes lifetime traffic, the traffic features continue to function while using the BC 30 receiver cable.”
@@P-squared Yes but that is not a traffic receiver, it's a traffic antenna for a GPS with an internal traffic receiver. So it replaces the Garmin TA10 and TA20
I bought this camera. Everything looks very well made, but what I didn't expect is that the receiver is fixed to the cigarette adapter, AND you have to hook an antenna (tiny cable, you didn't have that in the box) to it too. This messes with my installation. I just managed to wire the navigation device up high on the windshield with all wires hidden, and the navigation also comfortably away from people's eyes and the sun behind the tinted strip of the windshield. BUT, the supplied charger which now I HAVE to use (because of the incorporated receiver) has too short a cable to do the trick. Can I cut its cable right near the receiver (the portion that leads to the charger), and then solder it to the cable I'm already using for charging? (with a non-Garmin charger that has a three-port charger and it's cable separate, OK I need my cigarette lighter to hook other stuff too, Garmin, don't be so egoistic obsessing it just for yourself :D)
Unfortunately you can't cut the wire because the antenna wire is embedded in that cable. So the best solution would be to use something like this www.ebay.com/itm/192886653399
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101My box came with this: www.ebay.co.uk/c/1152042260 It's the traffic updates antenna. I don't know if it works as a camera - antenna though... Ok, what then if I keep most of the length of the original power-supply cable and cut it not near the receiver, but instead near the adapter and then lengthen with my own USB cable? Would that work?
@@zacmich6472 You need to watch my video about Garmin Traffic Cables to understand that even the lower part of the cable is actually an Antenna, and it is important to stay intact. Here is the video ruclips.net/video/YMVhjrJ5bRo/видео.html
Can the camera work also like a video registrator device?
The camera only has a wireless video transmitter device on it. There are no RCA or BNC connectors to use as an interface to connect it to any other Video Monitoring or recording device. Also the camera quality is not very good, it is really low resolution.
Will any wireless camera work on the Garmin or does it have to be a Garmin wireless camera?
No it has to be a Garmin Camera because the cable has the wireless video receiver, the GPS itself does not have a video receiver.
so how do you tap into the the reverse light power? need to be an engineer or mechanic?
You simply strip the positive 12v wire that goes to the white reverse light on the tail light assembly and attach it to the camera wire harness.
Trying to lose the 12v plug will the bgi gtm 60 receiver , receive the cameras signal
Unfortunately it will not receive the Camera Transmission Signal, the BGI-GTM60 can only received the traffic signals
Very good - So the original 12 volt cigarette adapter is swapped with 12 volt "receiver" plug- That's the ducks nuts !!!!
Exactly!
Can garmin gps can be used as a display unit with other camera which has transmitter and receiver units?
Actually I tried that with a wireless Baby Video Monitor Camera but I had no luck. So the answer is "No" it only works with it's own specific camera.
Thank You Sir for your quick reply. It helps me
@@kamleshnakade2277 No problem :-)
The aftermarket wireless camera must transmit on the same frequency as the Garmin OEM wireless camera to function properly with the gps/transmitter system. Finding out the frequency of the wireless transmitter would be the tough part of that project. Usually the transmitter manufacturer (Garmin) keeps that freq to themselves so you have to buy their wireless cameras but with the right scanning equipment, you could figure it out.
Have you ever used A spy camera with Garmin gps 65 ?
The Garmin camera is too obvious to be used as a spy camera. You need to use something like this www.ebay.com/itm/394573130521
Hi i bought this bc30 camera but im not happy with the resolution of the cam.can i buy other hd camera then connect it to this reciever from bc30?
I agree the video quality is a joke and a disgrace to Garmin which has a very high reputation. Unfortunately, no other cameras can communicate with the Garmin receiver cable, and the cable cannot support a higher-resolution video feed either.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thank you for the response..appriciate it😊😊

Hi, I drove today through some snow and rain and on garaging my car the image from the camera went on and off by itself. It was working fine until now and I've been washing my car 1-2 times too. Do you have an idea what could have happened?
Hi,
If water gets inside the camera it will damage it, and Garmin didn't do a good job making it waterproof. So I recommend that you let it dry completely or maybe use a hair dryer on it to see if you can bring it back to life. Also if you did bring it back to life make sure to use clear silicon glue over the cracks and openings to prevent water from going in it again .
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Thank you very much!
@@zacmich6472 No problem!
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101Today the camera worked and didn't switch off by itself, I checked, it doesn't seem to have cracks, perhaps this has been some temporary bug, from sudden changes in the temperature? I got also a dashcam, but it comes with an electrostatic sticker, I now wonder, which is better : place the cam with the lens behind the sticker, or place only the cam behind it? I mean do theses stickers have anti-UV properties? Are they clear enough to allow crisp shooting through the sticker?
@@zacmich6472 I recommend allowing the camera to get some air to cool off during hot summers. Wrapping it with clear plastic could lead to overheat in summer time.
I have a Garmin Drive 51 LM which does not have bluetooth. So, how does this camera work wirelessly with my GPS?
This camera does not need Bluetooth, the wireless video receiver is embedded inside the GPS Power Cable which comes with it. So you have to use the new power cable to power your GPS you old cable will not work with the camera.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thank you for the prompt and detailed response! Now I understand how it works.
@@nickcalderone75 You are very welcome!
@Technology Tips Any chance you have both the BC 30 and BC 35? If so, is the only difference the cable the plugs into the back of the GPS?
What I'm getting at is: If I purchased a BC 30 and a BC 35, are the cameras and transmitter effectively the same to where I could mount one camera on the front and another on the back and then I could pair both of them to the appropriate cable for the GPS I'm using (DriveSmart 86 uses the BC 30 and my Overlander uses the BC 35).
My guess is that the cameras / transmitters are likely the same and it's really just the interface to the GPS that's slightly different enough to require a different power cable.
If you have both, would you mind trying this?
They are very different. The BC35 is a higher resolution WiFi based camera where the BC30 is very lowe resolution 2.4GHz ISM Radio Band camera. I don't have any BC35 at the moment to do a test, but here is the comparison chart.
productcomparison.co/vehicle-backup-cameras/garmin-bc-30-vs-bc-35/
If you connect it to reverse light you don’t need to tap anything on your screen will work automatically when you put the gear on R
Yes that is correct, and I mentioned that in my video.
I have followed the installation instructions to the letter, and just cannot get it to work. I just do not understand it..... The GPS finds the bluetooth from the TV in the house, but not the camera. Any suggestions would be appreciated
This camera doses not put out a Bluetooth Video Signal, it transmits the video signal by Radio Frequency (RF) to the receiver cable and the cable sends the video signal to the GPS via the Mini USB Port. That is why you MUST use the GPS Car Cigarette Lighter power cable which came with the camera, and not the one that came with the GPS.
Can this camera be paired with a smartphone ?
Unfortunately it can't be paired with a smartphone.
I wish I can send my Garmin GPS to you to have it fixed.. Mine gives me a meseeage tas says: The attached power cable cannot charge your divice.. Use the cable that was provided with yuor device. And I have try every available cable and it dosent charge. When I plug it to my computer, has the same messeage , but works fne when I look for a place to go. HELPE PLEASE
