We've had one for four years. Towing a long caravan/car outfit 40 feet long it has sent us down unsuitable routes many times. Probably not too bad in a camper van or motorhome but a single track road with a 90 degree double bend near Lac d'Orient in France did it for us. Set up as Garmin recommended , even making our unit as big as an artic still sent us astray. Definitely not alone, I couldnt recommend it.
On the Driving Map View screen, if you select Track Up or North Up, you get a measurement show up on the screen, either in feet or part miles. This does not show up when in 3D mode. What is this measurement of? It alters when the screen zooms in or out.
Hi John, great information thanks. Any chance of a quick video on how to set coordinates? sometimes they differ from the set coordinates on the Garmin! thanks
Hello John, my questions are in two parts, firstly you mention it could do with a more closer look at the turn or junction. Does it not have an auto zoom function setting. My old Garmin did just that, as I approached my turn it would automatically zoom in and then out again after the manoeuvre. Also I see similar Garmin devices have a pinch zoom feature, does this model feature that?
Hi John, have just got this combo for my Devon Aztec, based on Fiat Ducato as well. I too don't like the idea of drilling into the van, can you tell me what adhesive you used, I'm thinking Sikaflex 521? trouble is it only comes in 310ml tubes so a lot of waste! Thanks
The backup camera can be wired to your reverse lights, so only comes on in reverse, or you can have it plugged into your vehicle electrics so you can use it all the time 👍🏼🚐
I’m not sure it can do that, you have the option to view the camera in satnav mode but then it takes over the full screen. If you can do it split screen let me know 👍🏼.
Hi John, I really enjoy all your videos. Wondering how you have found the garmin for restrictions on height and width, if you have used that. And have you tried any other sat navs? I tried copilot caravan version on my iPhone and it tried to take me down roads with width restrictions signposted. Any advice on other options? It would be cool also if I could send a destination to it from my phone, do you know if the Garmin does that? I believe Tomtom devices do. Sorry a few questions there!
I love the garmin, it's never taken us down roads that are unsuitable, it's fast to re-route and updates are frequent and free. You can use google amps to share locations, the fact the garmin is standalone is what I love about it. I tried the TomTom but it was nowhere near as good as the Garmin.
Looks very good but there are so many products available today, which are cheaper it's a whole mine field out there. Personally I use "Waze" Ok it doesn't give hight or size dimensions but then again I just drive a car nothing larger. However the more of these type of products installed in cars vans trucks and lorries the better as people would use the most direct route of the time thus saving on pollution and fuel, and of course big trucks in little lanes...
This is one of only 4 that can route according to vehicle type, that along with the wireless backup camera makes this unique. I’ve tried all the apps and satnavs and this is pretty much perfect, for camping related activities anyway 👍🏼
I cannot see that every road in the UK has had the width measured along its entire length to guarantee that the route recommended by this kind of sat nav is suitable. main roads maybe, side roads, I doubt it. Happy to be proved wrong.
I think you took it a bit too literal, the width of your vehicle is set so that the satnav knows not to take you down a road that might have a set width restriction, like the council putting bollards to stop trucks using road through housing estates, for example. Just like the height setting would mean you would never be given a route that includes a bridge that's got a clearance lower than your vehicle.

Bad image is insane for such expensive camera!

Hi, came across your brill videos last week. Keep them up. Good show
Thanks 👍🏼
Thanks for the review, just purchased one for a 2wk trip around Scotland 😎👊🏻👍🏻
Thanks & have a great trip 🚐👍🏼
Avoid Leeds as map not updated for years.
Great video, I think people should be aware that in Garmin keep putting you on parkways that I can't be on.
Great gadget with the vehicle type and size settings.

How do you do an update??
Through the WiFi the unit has built in.

Looks a great bit of kit! looks like im shopping again!
I may have missed it, but does it give you parking suitable for motor homes especially in the UK.
It can show you parking areas, by fees but not by the suitability for your vehicle details.
Hi John, I neresting video, this has popped up again as I am looking at Satnavs and I was wondering if you are still using it.

Gadget John Thanks very much John, I’ll give it a go, great videos btw 👍😀
Can you input latitude/longitude to get a more accurate destination?
Yes you can 👍🏼
Does the backup camera ONLY work when in reverse? I am deciding and think I'd like the camera always on.

@@GadgetJohn I think I'm going to go with a separate setup for the rear view camera.

Gadget John fab thank you! Have you tried the Aguri sat navs?
you can record a video?
I recorded different voice into our Garmin - fun stuff.
Does it have any option for avoiding Greenzones?
Do you mean congestion charge zones or war zone safe area 😁
John, are you still using this or something else?
I’m still using it 👍🏼🚐
Thanks John, trying to decide between this & the Tom Tom....
Great review, but how about the TomTom Camper GO?
Keep up the good work.
If they send me one then I’ll review it 😃👍🏼
