    Based on your review we bought this satnav and I’m pleased to say we are not disappointed. Bought it for a 4k miles trip around Europe. (Still on it). Only quirk seems to be GPS drop out now and then. Otherwise the fact we can do all our planning on the laptop and is syncs automatically is a big plus. Down loaded the the Tom Tom app from the apple store too as this all sync as well. Great for planning those trips on our Harley which we are towing behind our Moho. Thanks for the review. Great info as always. X

    Great review, thanks. I currently have a 620 which is nearly dead so am looking for a new satnav. Considered swapping over to Garmin but speaking to a colleague who has gone the other way he’s full of praise for the TomTom. I saw this model and it’s very similar to my current one (save mines a truck/bus one atm) so looks like, due in part to your review, I’ll be buying myself a Go Max.

    We love watching your vids and just bought our first motorhome. After your review we bought this product but found out trying to talk to it for directions in Spain doesn't work and according to Tom tom you have to speak to it in the language of the country you are in which is going to be hilarious and may result in my husband throwing it out the window 🙄

    Just used this Sat Nav for the first time and really like it but even after downloading the instruction booklet there are things not explained!!
    As an example when you select a location and click drive it then normally gives you 3 alternatives - do you know what the little symbols mean? For example it will show a bridge - does this mean there’s a low bridge or does it mean this route is avoiding a low bridge? It will also show a motorway! Again is this using a motorway or avoiding one? Also noticed petrol prices are not up to date - do you know how to update the info or does it do it automatically?
    Many thanks and love the videos - you have been a great help in us getting our first motorhome and making sure we knew what to expect in our first trips out.

    I fell out of love with tomtom when I discovered "lifetime maps" was the lifetime of their support for the device, not the lifetime of the device. I'm surprised you don't like voice directions as I prefer this on my motorbike and use it all the time.

    Hi Kat, I was just charging my new tomtom sat nav trying to find how the battery was doing when your video says it don't show when charging.
    Solution to your position problem We stuck the mount to the pop up map holder, allowing screen to be clear and the blinds can be closed while camping. Next time your in our local storage yard take a look in our moho. Think you know who we are (LDD on our numerplate). Keep up the great blogs and stay safe x Les n Lorraine

    Hi Kat
    Can you explain what the two numbers 3.5 and 2.5 represent in your weights (gross/axle in t) section. Thanks
    I'm assuming the 3.5 is your total weight limit but didn't understand the 2.5

    • @WanderingBird
      @WanderingBird  Год назад

      3.5tonnes is max allowed vehicle weight (not necessarily the actual weight of the vehicle). 2.5t is max weight over either axle. Hope that helps!

    As usual, great information but I would point out that the speed limit of camper Vans/motorhomes is based on the unladen weight which should be 3050kg or less to let you drive at 70 on a dual carriageway if you're heavier, 60 is the limit. The 3500kg limit which manufacturers like to keep under is just for driving licence limits.

    useful review, thanks
    - disagree with the "value" of fuel prices info. You need a smart phone to access it, so why pay a real money sub when you can get the info for free via your phone by simply going to a petrol prices app in the first place. I accept that the TT version is tied to your route and so will give the info without having to search for it, but that sounds like a price just for minor convenience.

    Anyone tried this in a Range Rover Velar with a heated windscreen? I spent a lot of money on a new Garmin/Avtex Tourer that I honestly loved but it gets absolutely no GPS signal in the car. Garmin themselves do not respond to emails so it's an expensive brick sitting in a fancy box. If the TomTom works, i'll gladly buy one. Cheers.

    Its a shame voice activated navigation does not work in English when you are abroad you have to speak in the language of the country you are in and not many people can speak every countries language, we did contact the help desk and unfortunately there are no updates to correct this so have to manually enter destinations.

    I am afraid I haven't been impressed at all with my TomTom Camper (not Max though). Today, I put in a destination, only to find it displays the route and then issued the message "your route does not comply with your vehicle profile"...and that's it! No rerouting (these are 'A'' roads in the UK), no explanation so the only option is to take the route and find out the problems in real time!.
    Several hundred pounds down the drain for me 😞

  • @electricery
    @electricery Год назад

    One major flaw you didn’t mention is that you can’t adjust the volume once you have set the journey other than by voice control which involves shouting your instruction 6 or 7 times before it understands. I have previously had about 10 different TomTom models which all had a slider to adjust, this one has a speaker icon that just turns volume off, and no slider. Poor design decision,

    So it does not adjust European speed limits for over 3.5 ton. That's just put me off buying one.
    We are 4.2ton and it could get us into trouble.
