Lots of growers are into clones. Growing from clones has a lot of benefits over growing from seeds. Should you use root cubes? Should you use something like an aero-cloner? Let’s explore the pros and cons of each in this video.

    For 12 clones , I cut'em , dip'em , and stick'em . I use cubes , jiffy's , or a cup of pro mix . They all work .

If you want fast rooting (healthy) clones, maintain a healthy mother plant. If your plant is happy and healthy you can get roots in as quick as 3 days in rockwool, peat plugs, coco plugs, ect. It's more based on the health of the plant than the method. IMO.

I used a small plastic storage tote and lid to make a bubble cloner. A nice air pump and air stones is the most expesive part. It works great. You can do one like this for $20. I use a (very) small amount of miracle grow in the water for growth nutrients. Low cost is what I was after. I have made hundreds of clones with it.

Gday from down under I am in South Australia. I almost got an ezy cloner but came to my senses when I remembered our summers are dam hot and we will have power outages at least 1 a month and water temp would have to be checked on the 40 degree Celsius days. In my 20 years of growing the simplest way is the only way for me. I have always used large rockwool cubes my tips are to make sure stems are 3 quarters from the bottom of the cube so roots will show sooner than a stem only 1 quarter in cube. I also cut out a square piece of paper to cover the rockwool cube this stops it from going green from algae Once I see roots I cover them with mycorrhizal powder and place in small pot with clay balls on bottom then coco coir. Hey just gotta say I love your accent and your rough voice sounds like you just smoked a pack of cigarettes. Take care and stay high 😎😎👍👍

You’re forgetting about the power consumption of the easy cloner since you’ve got an air pump running, and a spray pump running two electrical things it ends up costing you more on the ez clone

Great video. I grow in soil. Currently doing an all in one DWC cloner and a dome with soil. DWC is faster by 1 or 2 days even though it doesn’t use a dome but it goes through some transplant shock when going to soil. Easy to use to keep a mother and clones in the same unit. For soil, a bottom layer of perlite helps as does Mykos :) happy cloning

For about 30$ you can make a 8-12 site autocloner out of a bucket few pieces of 1/2” pvc and some spray nozzles. And like 20$ for a bunch of neoprene collars that last a yr or so. I’ve used rock wool or root riot cubes and even promix and as long as you have strong cuttings and keep them moist with a dome you’re good to go

    Personally. I prefer the aero-cloner.
Just set it on nice cool floor, ph to 5.5-5.8, EC 1.0 and wait...
I'd love to try the tray and cubes tho...seem so much easier for shipping vs a solo cup with coco, and quicker turn around time too. U can send a plug vs. waiting for a solo cup to root out...

I've done it all and it all works if you know what your doing. I used Oasis before Rockwood was around. The Floriists green foam bricks without stay fresh was my start. I cut my own cubes out of them way back. Used Jiffy to a home made aeroponocs cloner. All works good and kicks ass. Rooting to Clonex too it all depends on what you like and if your dirt, soiless, or hydro as to how you start em.

    Week 8 flower
I am attempting to root a clone on the plant while I'm flushing.
I used nodes that were already trimmed. Cut them flush with razor, wrapped stem in paper tower soaked with clonex, wrapped again with just wet paper towel and covered with plastic.
This is a method I see used on fruit trees.

Can an aeroponic cloner be used in Colorado, or other places with extremely low humidity, without a clear dome over the plants..?!
I've always used a dome over Rapid Rooters. With a few varieties, I've seen the cuts starting to "wilt" almost immediately, until covering with the dome. Not long, and they're looking strong again.
I watched The DGC episode on this. I should watch it again (all of them, actually..?!), as I always have a foggy memory after the show..?!🤔😄😄😄👍💯✌️

I bought one of those cloning 'machines' with 20 sites. When I got it, I was shocked at how small it was, for the money I paid. I should have sent it back. My 'standard' way of rooting cuttings is 20 at a time in a clear hamper with a 2" thick styrofoam slab under the Solo cups. Inside the Solo cup is a clear cup of the same size, with drainage holes. The Solo cup keeps light out, and the cuttings can be lifted out to check rooting progress. I call it cup in cup technology ;)
I've been doing this since forever, and this year I had miserable results, with sporadic rooting which really dragged out over a month! I lost some due to damping off. Since I've NEVER had this problem, I have 2 theories on why it happened (for many cuttings of various strains). My temps and humidity are well-controlled.
    1) In the past, I've found out that rooting hormone can go bad. No, I don't dip into the bottle. I used to use Wilson's 'Roots'. It turns brown and stinks when it gets old. So I switched to another kind, I forget the brand. The red gel turned watery after a while, and rooting suffered. I switched to Foop brand organic cloning liquid. I used it for ALL the problem cuttings. MAYBE it's the Foop, but I'm leaning towards #2 theory.
    2) I've had powdery mildew issues, and I'm battling to have absolutely none of it in my 3 growing areas. Once it gets in, it's hard to get rid of completely. I do all the standard things, and I don't see any- but I still live in fear.
SO- before taking any cuttings, I spray the mother plant liberally with Lost Coast Plant Therapy now called Plant Protector) at 14ml/l. I shake them off and let them dry and take cuttings. This stuff wasn't available last year, and I had no problems last year (I used red gel last year though, not Foop).
The Lost Coast product is Soybean oil, isopropyl alcohol, citric acid, sodium citrate, (unidentified) soap, and surfactant. As mentioned, 14ml/l. I'm thinking maybe having this stuff on stems that are expected to shoot roots might have some kind of inhibiting effect on the rooting. All my batches were sprayed with his stuff. I've used it before on plants prophylactically, and they all loved it.
I've now left the plants for a week after spraying the Lost Coast, and 'scrubbed' the stems of my cuttings with a little piece of kitchen scrubber pad wetted with Foop and water- then dipped in the Foop as per 'usual'. Did this on May 16, no sign of roots yet. I'm used to seeing roots in 10 days (or less) and only 1 or 2 stragglers in a batch- if that. I'm now seeing rooting take 3 to 4 weeks!
Sorry for the long essay, but I'm really at a loss to figure this out. Where better to pose these questions than here? If Scotty (or anybody) has any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear (read) them. Especially if anybody uses Foop with 100% success. For anybody that got this far- thanks :)

Hellos. More than likely you’re either cooking your stems from the water being warm (if in a hot space or the pump runs too hot) which you’d be able to tell from jelly/squishy stems OR you’re keeping them “too wet” which can slow down the rooting process but generally will eventually happen. Hope this helps.

If want to clone just a couple at time instead filling dome and needing to spray daily almost just use small solo cups one on top each other spray them once and seal for a week without touching them again, have them on a heating Matt and small white bulb 20w max, Cut below or threw a node 45% angle cut

    First off.
Everybody likes to grow the way that works for them. What they think is the easy way to grow.
But to sit down and say something like.
Doing this is to hard and there is so many things that can go wrong. And I didn't have good results doing that.
That just tells me you didn't know what you were doing.
Also saying its easy to lose your whole grow, when growing with aero.
    Is total bullshit also.
There have been countless times when after I clean my reservoir, I forgot to plug my pump back in.
And I don't live where I grow. So sometimes its 24 hours before I find out what I did.
And I MIGHT lose one or two plants. But NEVER a whole grow.
But then there's times I don't lose any plants.
It all depends on if you know what the f#$k you are doing.
Because the way you say you take your clones is a major pain in the ass to me.
Especially for the poor results that are achieved.
