If you go to the dealer they can set the Auto-Stop to default to OFF - but they'll charge you an arm and a leg for the privilege. Instead - one can simply buy a Carista scanner and pay a little subscriber fee and do it yourself - just check the website to make sure your car is supported. The cost of the scanner and small subscriber fee would almost certainly be less than the dealer rip off. Plus you'll have a nice tool to play with.
@@andrewnevermind4902 Nothing against them it is matter of priority. E.g. when driving it is quite important to be able to see you are going. What good is a heated steering wheel if your fingers end up frozen to the bone from scraping ice of the windscreen?
idrive 8 on new BMW's is pure torture 😫 it really is. Menu's and sub Menu's to un tick a box to turn off the bloody lane assist every time you start the car.
Car options - this is so bad on JLR products even the salesmen can't work out what a car has sometimes without just going to look at it. Packs, individual options, things becoming standard then not standard year by year, some options vanish for a year then return later. Lane keep assist is a bloody misery especially on the newest cars that won't remember the setting. Mandated unfortunately by the latest set of EU rubbish. Kia lane assist is so fussy that it feels like you have no control whatsoever. Jaguar lane assist is fairly laid back and you can leave it on without realising it's there until you deliberately cross a lane without indicating. However both have one thing in common, on the same bit of the M25 they've tried to steer me into traffic due to wet road reflections on a diagonal road repair. Absolute liability. And touchscreens can F off. I was recently car shopping and struck some new versions of cars off the list because they'd gone even further down the touchscreen road and there weren't even climate controls. Settled on a used one with a reassuring array of buttons in the end.
To be fair the reason behind this with a lot of manufacturers is to do with final weight. The first year road tax is still determined by co2 so by removing the wheel some cars are hundreds of pounds cheaper in the first year.
Agreed about Auto Stop/start. Nearly had an accident in my wife's Skoda Kamiq at a roundabout, slowed down for entry, and just as my space appeared to enter the roundabout, the engine died thinking I was stopping. Then when I hit the gas the gas it spluttered into start again losing the 2 or so seconds time I had to pull out before the next car came. Of course getting an angry horn blast into the bargain from the bloke I screwed up... EV owners smugness, very annoying... or it is until they go to trade them in.😁
For me i would add 1. Low profile tyres 2. No spare tyre or even space for it 3. Electronic handbreaks 4. Manual handbrakes on the passenger side of the car 5. Lane keep assist 6. Overly eco engines that struggle when cold to maintain revs 7. Rear and front tyres on the same car with different profiles 8. Cars that bong if you start the engine before putting your belt on 9. Auto gearboxes (i just don't like them 😂)
Totally agree with every single point. Stereo, auto stop, german options list, having to switch safety shit off every single bloody time i start the SUV (naw it isnae). Great to hear it’s not just me.
Auto stop-start can be set to default to the OFF setting by the dealer. However, they'll charge a lot for it. Instead use a carista scanner and pay a small subscription fee and do it yourself. Just check to make sure your car is supported. It also supports other settings, depending on your vehicle.
Couldn't agree more about fake SUVs, imo they are literally the dumbest cars class of cars on the road. To make them worse they are responsible for the decline of one of my favourite class of car, the estate car.
No rear wiper,no spare tyre. I have an EV, but will never get a Tesla because of the touch screen, and even the indicator stalk has gone on the latest M3.
Completely agree 100% - Still got the 3 series I see? Great vid
Thanks mate! Yeah still got the 3 series. Unfortunately. Not got what I want for it yet lol
Brilliant little amusing piece thanks for sharing 😂
Glad you enjoyed it
I would pay extra to not have Stop start and the doors automatically locking themselves.
You should be able to disable those in the cars settings, or at least on mine it does.
You can switch both of those features on and off.
Yes but you have to do it every time you get in the car and sometimes they are a nightmare to actually switch off

@@car_babbleOne can have it set off to be the default, *permanently!*
Tyres with no sidewalls. Heated steering wheel, heated seats, electric tailgates but no heated screen.
Wo wo wo. Don't be slagging off heated seats!

Literally agree with all of these. Thanks for explaining what an SUV is!
My pleasure!
So true, keep it simple.
Great points - especially re the SUVs!
Thanks Rob, appreciate it!
Temperature on my Peugeot 208 activates using voice control, no need to take my eyes off the road
Many cars offer voice control. Few of them work well enough to not cause further frustration.

I sat in one yesterday with ID8 and it looks great but it's just so much less easy to use

Enjoyed reading this comment. The struggle is real!
Cars with no spare tire!!! Anyone ever have a blowout or get road debris tear up a tire.

There is a market for "new" analog cars. The Nokia of cars. New, looks modern just 80s functionality. Surely someone sees the market here?
Yeah I think you are on to something there.
Touchscreens are great
When they work!!!!
😂😂 great video. 1, 3 & 6 for me! 👋
Thanks Wayne!
so pleased I purchased a Hyundai I 30 Base model
Lol sorry mate hopefully the i30 base model isn't as bad!

Yeah estates are way more superior cars!!
Still daily driving a rover MGZR 😅
Cylinder deactivation 😢
Another load of crap gimmick
I think I've found my long lost brother.
Haha I think I'll take that as a compliment

I can't believe I forgot to mention no rear wipers. That is one of my biggest pet hates and my wife goes nuts about driving my car for that reason!
Does complaining about modern cars cause one to over gesticulate
I'm very passionate about it. Can you tell? 😊
I dunno. Just makes me think you can't work a car. If you want to go back to vhs, just say so.
(Eye roll)
@@car_babble careful. Eyeroll will upset fatigue recognition. But that's a good thing.
