Dwarfism is short stature that results from a genetic or medical condition such as achondroplasia. Adult height is under 4’10” or 1.47 meters. Though simply being this height does not mean someone has dwarfism as Aubrey Smalls recently explained.
There are over 400 different kinds of dwarfism and approximately 1 in 10,000 people is born with it.
Dwarfism is more than a diagnosis, it is also a lived experience, a rich community, and a vast history that spans language, region, ethnicity, and culture.
