Guys, If you're having audio issues. Please watch it either DIRECTLY from the RUclips app (not your phone's browser), or directly from your computer. This is basically a "surround sound" audio function that I forgot to turn off of my camera when I was editing. I apologize for any inconvenience.
It's sad that people still don't understand that our hair is so versatile & can pretty much be manipulated to do whatever we want. But thanks for clearing that up!
Hair Mary love the video and love love your hair. I don't see a texture difference I see a style difference. Question when you say you didn't shampoo did you mean you co-washed?
It is just ignorance. There is alot black don't understand our hair, how to grow it, maintain it. We listen to hairdresser instead, listening to our hair.
Also, moisture. Before this summer I didn’t realize I was not properly moisturizing my hair and I always would have super poofy hair with no discernible kink or coil. But once I started deep conditioning weekly, it’s been so different. I actually do have a curl pattern and can lock it in with a wash and go
@@adrienemoore1971 same. Went from frizzy fro with twist outs but wash and gos for the win. Hair looking lile loose curls but if i let it dry out back to frizzy fro city. Moisture!!!
*I just think its crazy how you were called shady and fake over your hair texture looking different.. Anyone who's natural should know a hair texture can appear to be different all the time*
Nubian Queen not only that but people have this ugly idea of what 4C hair looks like. Like moisturizer and a comb makes a difference. Girls be keeping they hair all dry and natted up so they never see their curls .
Exactly. I HATE it! Some people tried to call me out and ask me if I'm mixed because I'm dark and my hair isn't tightly coiled (so that means I have to be). That's the dumbest thing ever. Sadly, we've been conditioned to think like this. 🤦🏿♀️
lauren felton not everyone had curls lol sorry I'm being nosey and late at that but just wanted to say some people if they have very fine hair for example and its 4c can moisturize all they want and even after a protein treatment clarifying treatment deep conditioner treatment with a steam treatments and will still not get any curls
Ugh some black women be killing me with the hate/jealous on each other smdh, I been natural for years and I know if does not take a rocket scientists know that you can change your hair pattern and as well Texture with the products you put in your hair and as well dying your hair and flat iron your hair well change your texture. Listen your hair is beautiful and so are you as well luv and keep doing you and I stay watching you on RUclips...
Thank you boo! You actually can't "change" your hair texture or curl pattern. It is what it is, unless you chemically alter it. BUT you definitely can make it as tame or as wild as you want it to be!
melanie chalwell I follow some white women on RUclips and I don't see no white women being hateful to each other at all and I follow some of tha other black sistas here on RUclips that deal with the same thing and it doesn't make any sense at all like when are some black women just going to get it together smdh.
Maisha karamoko I been saying that same thing for years. If black women would just realize that if we stuck together like white women do, we could go so much farther in life..
The people that are saying that you are changing your hair texture are the ones that can't get their hair like yours, because they have a different texture of hair. And I bet they are the ones that use a dime sized amount of hair product. My hair texture is similar to yours, and I know what you mean. I take time to do my hair, and I use a large amount of product on my hair to get the best results.
Your natural hair journey is YOUR natural hair journey. It's your hair. You can do whatever you want to do with it. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. All you do is tell people what you do to your hair, but you always say that that's what you do to YOUR hair. It's up to them to use those products or do that process. It's your hair Amber. You know your hair best. And the video is appreciated but you don't even have to explain to anyone. It's your life and your hair. You're being yourself and that's all that matters. Be blessed. And good luck on all your other ventures in life. People are always gonna have something to say. But as long as you're happy, at the end of the day that's all that counts. Some people look at youtubers as if they are god and they say what they can do to their hair instead of just doing what they think is best for their hair. Just keep doing you and being who you are! 😁
thank you FOR saying this.....PPL are so obsessed with loose curl pattern that they project their insecurities onto you and accuse you of trying to change your texture, without taking into account that 1) no one can just change their texture (naturally) and 2) products, technique, diet, stress levels, etc. all play a role in how our hair looks/manifests in that particular time.....and 3)everyone is not obsessed with curl definition or loose curl patterns, sometimes ppl naturally have these textures.....
This is true. texture changes period. If I do nothing to my hair it looks 4c. If I DC and take care it's 4a. If I was and go its 4a. If I blow out it looks like a bomb 4c blow out. People seem to not understand this! It's what I love about natural hair.
"If I do nothing to my hair it looks 4c" no it doesnt just cuz ur hair is dry and undefined doesnt make it look 4c. Real 4cs can tell if your really 4c, our hair has a specific way of looking. Its offensive when dry unkept 4as and 4bs call their hair 4c. Our hair actually has a coiil pattern.
Exactly its based on curl size and shrinkage how does ur hair look 4c cuz u didnt do anything with it? She is bascially saying her unkempt 4a hair looks 4c. Thats disgusting!
You are right--products and how you use them makes hair look different! I get questioned too Amber. They think you are lying bc some black women like being skeptical when it comes to hair.
It's so ignorant. We go natural because we want the versatility and freedom, and then judge and become skeptics of those who have learned how to make their natural hair versatile!
Hair Mary well said. My coils are MINE. Never go natural bc of someone else's journey. Your hair will not look like theirs. No. You ain't me. Period. The end.
“I’ll put a screenshot if I feel like being petty” **me waiting to see if she was feeling petty** POOF A SCREENSHOT 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i paused just so i can read bc im petty too.
You keep speaking but they are not listening. So sad you have to address this a second time. *the black natural hair community is too concerned about hair type, it's ridiculous* Just focus on learning your hair and getting some knowledge from videos
I don't even have the same hair texture as Amber but I value her advice so much. Her tips have worked for my hair. And she keeps it real. Always my favorite cousin❤
One of the many things I Love about you and your Channel is you keep it REAL! natural hair has texture gets a bit looser because of the weight as it grows, you have Long hair! I know you don't need to be defended, BUT you are One of the Most Real, thoughtful, honest youtubers I watch. Thank you for being transparent, Your Awesome!
Hi cousin, so basically she mad because her hair doesn't look as good as yours. I do what you do, use same products and mine don't look exactly the same, but I smile in the mirror thinking I'm too cute and say "close enough" 💁😄❤
Me too 😂😂. When I first went natural I was 4a. Then I became 3c 4a from there to 3c now I'm 3b3c ...🤣 as it grows it changes. I wonder where I'll be a year from now 🤭
Amber i wouldnt even be trying to explain. Let people think what they want. I haven't and will never explain myself... whoever those folks are my response to them regarding my hair/journey is I style and put whatever I choose on MY hair on MY channel so "Have SEVERAL Seats"! Change the channel! You talked about this before, people are haters you just wasting your breath on those fools! "You change you texture too much" wth... Girl that mess is not worth addressing. Sane people watch RUclips to gain insight about various things of interest not to questions people intentions/motives and do evalutions on past videos/history of the person given the content. If you dont like a channel change it... Simple! That hating junk gets under my skin!
Do people not understand that every 7 years your texture goes through changes? When you're natural a simple product can make your hair either do a rock and roll Tina Turner or a Tatiyana M. Ali
Brianna my hair did. I'm hurt a lil bit now I have to find a better moisturizer it's 4c/4d honestly I don't care for types I do know my texture changed right after I had my son this was 3 years ago.
Brianna SCREAMING 😂😂😂😂 & I didn’t know our hair changes ever 7 years. I was wondering why my hair was super unmanageable when i first went natural but its softer now.
Lol the REAL problem is that people don't want to use the products that best for their best wash n go. Just wanna be able to define their curls with only Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie like a type 3 natural but they're a type 4 and need that good ole eco styler gel. Thats tea though.
Now you said something, then! Because I SHOLL have tried to use just the Curl Enhancing Smoothie on my hair thinking I could get away with what a 3a/3b girl does and my hair was like "BABY NO!" lol I didn't get mad at the RUclipsr... I knew when I put that light stuff in my hair it wasn't gone work 😂
Absolutely love this! After all... it is a "JOURNEY" and that makes it personal to you. You've learned how to get the desired results from trial and error with varying products and methods, which is what we all should be doing ... ultimately learning from each other while on our own journeys. Thanks Cuz for all you do!!!
I totally concur that having properly moisturized hair can "change" your texture. Also, that is the beautiful thing about our hair--we can make it look how we want it to look.
I've noticed that my own hair texture when hydrated properly has some tight, larger and cute barrel ringlet curls by my nape. This area also frizzes very easily. The area from my ears and temples are very tight, small corkscrew curls. My crown is similar to this area, but a bit looser and tends to frizz easily. And my bang area is the wavy area with slight curls towards the ends. Nothing is heat damaged because I haven't used any real heat in about 3-4 years. I can't even remember how long it's been. I also get asked if I texturize my hair sometimes. It annoys me quite a bit.
Justine Horton My hair at the back of my nape is a '3b' texture. But the rest of my crown is 4b-4c. I was a little confused in the beginning cause there's alot of people saying you only have "one type of texture." But that's not true for me I guess.
@@Allahaziah1 I'm almost done with transitioning to natural and I notice a small patch of curls that look like 3a 3b. Its stumping me because I'm like is that heat damage? I rarely used heat but the rest is like 3c or 4a and I'm like why is there a random texture difference. It hangs a lot lower. Hopefully it doesnt look crazy in a wash and go. But I notice it looks the same texture from roots to ends.
I don't understand why our own people would hate. I love your videos and your attitude. You are great and your hair is great. If someone doesn't like something about your videos, SO WHAT! You have helped me along my journey, thank you sooo much cousin.
Right! I'm like... you don't have to like me or subscribe to me. It honestly doesn't bother me... but to say I'm shady because YOU don't understand natural hair. Pathetic lol
Those people giving you negative comments cannot possibly be natural, because any natural girl knows that our hair can look completely different outta nowhere. My hair can be super defined one week && crazy frizzy the next. It all depends on products you use && your environment. I live in GA && when the humidity is really high i can leave the house looking one way && come back home looking completely different lol. Some people will literally complain about anything, keep doin you boo! 😘
I definitely agree about the usage of the products. One time by accident I fell asleep with deep conditioner in my hair, twas a long day and when I woke up hours later and took off the deep conditioning cap my curls looked like 3b 3c curls and my mom was like what did you do your hair isn’t that curly. But basically what I learned from that “mistake” was I needed to deep condition my hair with heat ever since I’ve been doing that my curls have been POPPING. They are springy bouncy and I clearly can see a more defined s-shape pattern all over. I can’t just slap deep conditioner on my hair and leave it on for 30 minutes it will just sit there and I was doing that a whole year of being a natural. I think that people just want to just jump on the next sister and say she is texlaxed or altered her texture because of of all this natural hair curl pattern envy and colorism but just keep doing you
Which deep conditioner did you use? And how long do you sit under the dryer? I have really dry hair that doesn't maintain any curl definition so any advice would be great.
When this accident specifically happened I used the Emergencia volume control and softening deep acting treatment with avocado. I usually rotate this with aussie moist, cream of nature intensive treatment (the red line) and ORS hair mayonnaise. They all have this effect on my hair when used with heat. I sit under the dryer for 30 minutes and I do it when my hair is really damp. hope this helps
Love your videos. I watched 2 and subscribed, and girl let them folks complain cause their hair texture won't change and they don't feel like taking time out to take care of it. Your hair went through a beautiful transformation. And you are doing a great job maintaining it too!
ughhh people are foolish. Its so funny to me. my hair is similar to yours and my hair also HATES silicone. I remember in the beginning of my journey my hair was "fluffy" and my curls would frizz up. I was actually dating a guy at the time (a brother mind you) who said he didn't like my natural hair because it wasn't "tamed". (I ditched him right after that convo! by the way) I wasn't locking moisture in my hair at all so it was actually quite dry ! when my hair was wet it has really nice curls but when it was dry it wouldn't retain its shape. why! because I was using the wrong products! now my hair "looks" different because I no longer use products that don't agree with my hair. simple. So Amber I understand. your videos have helped me in my hair journey and I'm greatful. I'm also a product junky! going to the hair store is like winning the lotto to me lol! stay blessed lovey!
You did a good thing. I understand how you feel because my hair is wild when it's dry. I found out how to tame it a little bit but I guess it's not enough because people still hate more so they'll get fascinated. I'm still learning what to do with my hair I'm still young and I'm just using what I have and surely my hair is a lot better than what it was. I'm still on the look on how to get my hair like hers 😍.
Omg you are the first southern youtuber that I've seen and I love it!!! 😂💙💙💙💙 Yass with that accent gurl!!!! You legit sound just like me and I've never seen a black youtuber just accept their "country" accent.
Honestly, I feel that you have conquered the natural hair world. I'm thinking about working with my own soon and restraining from always keeping it up. You have inspired me! Your hair looks great girl!
Girl.. i need to show this video to multiple people because people are always saying I'm lying about my hair 🙄... when my hair is wet you can see my curls. When its dry i have a straight up afro... when i gel it down and separate my curls you can clearly see i have a 4a/4b curl pattern with what seems like 3c in the very front and back of my hair... products play a huge role in having my curls pop or a frizzy puff ball on my head
People are silly. A lot of it is due to girls/women of color wanting looser curls rather than getting to know their own texture and working with it...😒😏...anywhoooo. Will you please do more vids with tips and tricks for low porosity hair? I have low porosity hair with very thin strands and I have a lot of it (length is below armpit, but very dense so it looks thick). I keep my hair in twists or individual large braids, but I still have an issue with tangles and fairy knots...natural products help (I use products from 22 century natural woman as well a my own mixture of oils and herbs). Any advice would be appreciated...
DL Jones My hair is in twists right now. B/c omg my hair was shedding so much and breaking ..getting tangled, looking dry 😩 & I realized why. I was not moisturizing my hair enough at alllll. Like after the first day of applying product I would barely remoisturize my hair smh now that I look back I can not believe I let that typa thing slide. As my hair being in twists, since moisture is key, I spritz the twists w/ hot water then apply an oil sealant or Shea Butter to seal the moisture in every night before applying my silk scarf & bonnet. My hair be looking sooo shiny & moisturized. Also before I do the twists I detangle my hair thoroughly like I could have 6 sections right but I even divide those sections b/c honestly the product don't easily get on every strand so I have to really separate even the small sections to make sure the hair is coated w/ product from root to end and that's when my curls be looking moisturized. Just some things I've noticed w/ my hair 🙄 sorry it's long
Cuzzin Im a little over 3 years natural and my hair texture continues to change like every year lol! And i have absolutely no chemical in my hair lol. Hair gon do what hair gon do and I let my hair be an individual and I'm just enjoying the ride lol
Hey Cuz! I know exactly what you're talking about. My hair is the same way. It can look like a completely different texture based on how I take care of it over the weeks or months. It gets super frizzy, tangled, and completely undefined when I have a lot of build up and when clean it lays quite nicely, barely tangles at all, and is super defined. People don't understand that because they aren't as experienced with their hair yet.
ITS TRUE. WHEN I STARTED NATURAL I WAS LIKE OH HELL NO WHERES THE CREAMY CRACK. BUT I PULLED THROUGH. I CHANGED MY HAIR TEXTURE BY TRAINING AND JUST MOISTURIZING AND CONDITIONING. ALSO HAIR MASKS. AND I WENT FROM WOOLY COTTON 4Z HAIR TO 3C / 4A HAIR
Thank you for this video. I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on with my hair texture, and I couldn't figure it out for nothing!! Then I saw this video and said WOW this is EXACTLY what my hair is going through. So I ran to the beauty supply and bought silicone-free products, and almost INSTANTLY my hair felt good again. I am forever indebted to you "cousin." God bless and thank you again!!
I love it!!! People will always have something to say. Who cares?!! As long as you're happy with you and you know what you're doing is right for you, bump them! The people that sit back and talk about people being themselves are usually people that are unhappy with themselves because they're trying to be something they're not. I love your hair and I respect your honesty because I have seen plenty of youtubers lie about products and their hair and it's annoying when you're here as a student of youtube and you go out and waste money on products they know they didn't like just for sponsorship. Stay authentic.
I just want to let you know that I have learned a lot about how to deal with my natural hair from you. I'm really working hard to fall more in love with my hair and paying attention to what works for my hair. Thank you so much!!!
Girl thanks for this video. Just like you I was a press and curl natural the majority of my life. My hair is totally different from then, to when I had color to, now just straight black wearing it natural pretty much all the time. I don't think people who hadn't been natural for very long understand that your hair goes through many stages which means you alter products and methods according to what your is telling you. Now relaxed hair stays the same no matter what. Some are still in that relaxed mind frame obviously.
I've noticed the same things as you have with my own hair. It changes in response to hydration and product ingredients. People are always asking what i use. I do tell them because i don't want people to think I want to be the only one with cute hair, although i know that what determines if it will work or not is the porosity level and condition of the hair. Sometimes I use something new and people love my hair and other times, they look like what is going on with your hair.
Girl, they are just hating on your beautiful hair!!! Do you boo and screw those hating broads! Your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!😙😙 Oh and btw, you have a new "subbie"!! I ran across your vid by accident and I loved your personality and realness. #YouGotAnewCousinChile! 🤣🤣
Yo I loved this video!!!! Girl you hit the nail on the head.....its all in the products you use and you use them.i have a tea and one minute it look like I'm starting dreads the next minute I have silky curls... So girl do yo thing.
Keep doing what you're doing. Scientifically, this is possible. Some hair textures can change even as we get older with or without products. Mine has slightly changed after pregnancy. There's always going to be people that hate. 🤷🏾♀️
Thank you for sharing this!!! I have been so confused about my hair. I feel like my hair is 100 different textures...and never thought once it was how the product interacts with my curl pattern. But now that you mention it, of course the product makes the difference! Thank you....THANK YOU!!!!
It takes time, patience and a whole lot of trial and error to figure out what works best for your hair. The problem is that everyone wants a quick fix for everything. All hair is not created equally. Even if it looks the same what works for me may not work for you. I have these types of conversation all the time. Sometimes you just have to experiment for yourself and see what happens. You are just giving us tips and recommendations its not the law! lol
NaturallyIG Thank you for saying that. I'm a bit older and I meet younger women all the time who say my hair is their "goal". Our hair is unique to each individual and we have to love what we have and pay attention to what our hair likes. I agree, no quick fixes.
Thumbs up Amber!! I've been natural since 2008. Natural as in no more relaxers just flat irons when I wanted to go natural with no straightening stylists would tell me either commit to being natural but you can't go back to using heat. Kudos to you for changing your style and trying new things. #variety is the spice of life thanks for the video
I just got to say one thing , its your hair and you can do whatever you want to your hair . Can't stand when grown people try to tell grown people what to do . Like people need to learn how to stay in they lane . And your hair is beautiful and I love your channel .
I get what your saying, my hair changes when i do certain things to it too. Your hair is very beautiful & u can do with it whatever u please..ppl need 2 shut up or don't watch if they don't like it. I enjoy your vids..keep em coming!
Hey Cuzzin! I had to tell you thank you so much for your video about hair porosity. I just did a wash and go using the low porosity Shea moisture. My hair has not felt this amazing in FOREVER!!! Also, I used sweet almond oil, curl milk and olive oil eco styler. AMAZING RESULTS! I also deep conditioned which I never do. My hair feels like butter! Thank you so much!
Hi cousin, I just wanted to say I love your Channel, your realness and your honesty. Do what comes natural to you and thank you for sharing from your heart.😊 In regards to hair with woman and men of color, it is always in a state of change (like the wind). Even if we did not use any products in our hair, the changes happen naturally due to various factors with our health, our eating and drinking habits, a lack of or too much of certain vitamins and/or minerals for our body and scalp, the environment, genetic and hereditary traits, age, etc. (and the list goes on). No matter what hair style, hair texture or hair color we rock . . . God made us all beautiful!!! Embrace your tresses, love the journey stay positive and inspired! Abundant Blessings to all...Peace.
Hello fellow Alabamian!! We definitely have a lot of cousins here in the South....lol I used the Curlific treatment on my daughter's hair it worked wonders for her. Thanks for your product reviews!
I want to say congrats to you. You know how to change it, to suit it to what you want. That’s good. I encourage you to continue your hair journey, you’ve come a long way and you should continue and don’t give up. God bless you, the Lord be with you. God’s favor is on you, don’t worry.
Hair Mary I think people just be putting too much into the natural hair some people hair texture s are different all the time especially with age Amber you are so beautiful and your hair is too you judt keep doing you Queen♡
Once again, another great video! My hair texture "changed" over the last 2 years. I decided to let ut grow and I have no more tight ringlets...now is more like a tight S's. I dont know why people find joy on calling people fake or other words. So sad.
Exactly! I touched on that too in this video but I edited it out because it was so long. But as your hair gets longer it gets heavier! So your curls will absolutely stretch out!
Hair Mary it's so true if you look at the Chile tribes (native ones) their hair is long and wavy as their hair is long and the product fills the gaps in the cuticle.
gyrl!!!! PLEASE, those folks that are throwing you shade about your hair texture are simply HATERS......THANK YOU CUZN for ALL of the helpful info and know this,..... your hair is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.....in the words of our favorite (2PAC) KEEP YA HEAD UP!!!
Thanks for the video. I think your hair is beautiful. I also don't think you should have to validate your hair texture to anyone. Any person with natural hair KNOWS that different products and methods will give you different results. Keep doing you love!
Rissa J jealousy. Most likely people who want her type of curl pattern and don't have it. Seems people still have issues with their hair texture . That's why they get mad in the comments of people who have looser curl patterns
Rissa J Because they're actually naturals on RUclips who textlax their hair to loosen their curl pattern and then they tell everyone that's their natural curl pattern so they can get more followers and likes.
I feel like some people don’t get that when your hair starts to get longer your curls start to come out more. like in loose curls. after a period of time you may notice that curls are starting to come out because your hair is getting longer like mines. I had 4C hair like 2 years ago now it’s like a 3A type. just be patient.
I changed my hair texture too. When I first cut off my relaxed ends my hair was dry. frizzy 4c and had no defined curl pattern. Four years later after a steady routine of regular cleansing, moisture and protein when needed, using mostly natural product, lots of DIY (oh and finger detangling exclusively for the last year and a half) and figuring out what ingredients my hair likes (yes, I said ingredients, not products) my hair has developed a lovely curl pattern that looks very similar to my twist outs. No surprise there, twist outs are my go to style. Some people ask about curl training and I say yes it is possible but it basically long-term dedication to keeping your hair clean, conditioned and moisturized and mostly letting it do what it wants to do, instead of demanding it be laid and slayed all the time.
First of all I'm a relaxed girl who really enjoys watching your videos. People have to realize your a person just like them who has the right to do whatever you want with your hair. Just because you used a product 6 months doesn't mean you still like it for your hair or just like changing things up. Some people always have something negative to say. Ignore them. Keep doing you.
I have meet a lot of different women with a lot of different hair textures when I first began my natural hair journey I read the science of black hair I found this book to be very helpful that was the first time I learned about hair porosity before a lot of RUclipsrs were even talking about it I learned that my hair porosity was low and that some heat was actually good for my hair because it helped the moisture to penetrate my strands I also learned that for most curly haired women before you hair grows in length it usually gets thicker and more full before your curls can elongate I also learned that the longer your hair becomes the looser your curls become so in general I have been natural since 2012 and my texture has even changed dramatically, when I first became natural there was no way I could put my hair in twists or even part it in four parts I always had to comb it out to detangle it and put a minimum of 6 twists in my hair at a time now I can finger detangle on a nightly basis and put my hair in only two twists at night while sleeping also from watching Nappy Fu which is another youtuber I learned the importance of twisting up your hair at night instead of just putting it up in a pineapple and satin scarf lastly when I invested in a quality satin bonnet slaps my hair held a lot more moisture and the texture changed because my hair was more moisturized
I just started watching your videos and I love your hair in all of its textures & gloriousness. Hell my own hair is getting "softer" and damn near not curling or holding my fro but we work with what were given & your working it!
So are you using the CG method now or are you going something different? I'm a new subscriber and I'm a transition natural. So I'm just trying to find different things to try and your hair looks amazing!
I experienced the same issue with hair dye prior to becoming natural and learning that I have low porosity hair! The person who did my hair obviously didn't know what she was doing..lol. I've also noticed a shift in my hair texture from the past few years where it was changed from a 3 to a 4bish. I've been natural for 9 years now and I'm still learning every day while accepting my hair for what it is.
Girl I'm relaxed and my hair curls now because I've stopped using sulfates lol ur absolutely right what you put in your hair will determine how it looks
People are funny. When i get asked how i get my hair curly and i say it's my natural hair texture they look at me like I'm lying or withholding some secret lol. I don't look mixed but i have "mixed" hair so i guess it throws some people off.
Let's make love and not war. Let's bring each other up and stop breaking down. There are already too many ppl doing trying to break us down as black women. Keep up the good work Mary. Your hair is beautiful!
I didn't either. I thought it was clear that my hair was just "tame" in some pictures and fluffy in others. But clearly folks out here thinking I'm "shady"... smh
There will always be someone who has something negative to say. It seems to make them feel better about themselves. Just ignore it and keep on doing what you do. I enjoy your videos and appreciate your sharing. But no matter what, you can't please everyone cousin! Lol
You're right. You can't please everyone! But I definitely chose to take something someone meant for negative, and use it as a teaching experience to bring some hair education to my channel, because clearly people who think like this can't know anything about how natural hair behaves lol
All the ignorant comments kill me. I hate having to explain to unlearned individuals about this process. First of all, it is YOUR HAIR growing out of YOUR SCALP. Only YOU know what is going on with YOUR HAIR. If a person truly is on this journey and knows the definition of a JOURNEY, they understand what is actually happening. Products change, situations change, this whole thing is about CHANGE! It has been almost 9 yrs for me, so, cousin, I get It! I'm so glad I am one of YOUR subbies 😊 I know we all appreciate you.
Guys,
If you're having audio issues. Please watch it either DIRECTLY from the RUclips app (not your phone's browser), or directly from your computer. This is basically a "surround sound" audio function that I forgot to turn off of my camera when I was editing.
I apologize for any inconvenience.
your so right like when i used as i am products my hair is so pretty and defined vs when i use cantu or something else i dont get that defined curls
Makayla Lee the leave-in from them is everything in life for my hair but it breaks my face out so bad that I'd rather just put my hair in a bun
i feel you thats why i try to keep a face routine so the grease dont break me out but i still get some breakouts
Shanice Morris same
or just use cc
It's sad that people still don't understand that our hair is so versatile & can pretty much be manipulated to do whatever we want. But thanks for clearing that up!
EXACTLY! We say we love natural for that exact reason, and then be made and folks who've learned how to master that. Thanks for watching, boo ❤️
I love your channel, I've been watching u for 4 months
I think my texture "changed" as my hair got longer. More hair = more weight = looser texture. Issa journey!
Exactlyyyy!!!
This is my life now 😭
Also, moisture.
Moisture!!!
Hormones/puberty changed my curl pattern.
*I just think its crazy how you were called shady and fake over your hair texture looking different.. Anyone who's natural should know a hair texture can appear to be different all the time*
EXACTLY! I'm like... how is this even a thing? lol
Alicia Lennette I keep tryna tell me aunt that smh
Alicia Lennette Exactly! My natural hair looks different all the time..depending on the style I do.
Alicia Lennette Exactly. Sometimes I define my curls and sometimes I brush it out and wear and afro. Our hair can look different based on the look.
Pastor John gray
Ppl stay thinking dark skin black women can only habe 4c hair
Nubian Queen TRUTH. Like these dumb asses will even try to discredit them by calling them mixed. Like gurl have a seat u sound dumb
AshTheOne it actually does. 4c is considered the most curliest pattern. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean its not there
Ugh some black women be killing me with the hate/jealous on each other smdh, I been natural for years and I know if does not take a rocket scientists know that you can change your hair pattern and as well Texture with the products you put in your hair and as well dying your hair and flat iron your hair well change your texture.
Maisha karamoko PREACH!! Some black women are ridiculous! Don't make no damn sense..
melanie chalwell I follow some white women on RUclips and I don't see no white women being hateful to each other at all and I follow some of tha other black sistas here on RUclips that deal with the same thing and it doesn't make any sense at all like when are some black women just going to get it together smdh.
Maisha karamoko I been saying that same thing for years. If black women would just realize that if we stuck together like white women do, we could go so much farther in life..
melanie chalwell Yes Indeed Luv
Texture looks the same to me. Maybe it is more moisturizer and right products. Oh well, forget them😜.
Sweetlady1916 yes
The people that are saying that you are changing your hair texture are the ones that can't get their hair like yours, because they have a different texture of hair. And I bet they are the ones that use a dime sized amount of hair product. My hair texture is similar to yours, and I know what you mean. I take time to do my hair, and I use a large amount of product on my hair to get the best results.
Same, I feel like it looks the same❤️
It's called Jealously.
Simple as that!
Yes
the spirit world can be a tricky place being that it coexists with our world and such.
True dat
Thank you! You said everything ❤️
Hair Mary you're welcome. If you ever need someone to talk to I'm here.
Jacqueline Elliott This summed it up for me. You've said exactly what I was thinking watching the video. 👏🏽
Altoid D it's good to know that there's someone else who understands what I was saying. It's amazing how all of us think differently.
Perfectly stated 🙌🏾
Sidebar: you look real chocolatety in this video 😍🍫
yasssss! Thank you for noticing! I got me a GOOD tan on vacation! I'm loving it! 😍
Hair Mary I was going to tell you on Ig but I rushed over here to watch the video 😩😂
thank you FOR saying this.....PPL are so obsessed with loose curl pattern that they project their insecurities onto you and accuse you of trying to change your texture, without taking into account that 1) no one can just change their texture (naturally) and 2) products, technique, diet, stress levels, etc. all play a role in how our hair looks/manifests in that particular time.....and 3)everyone is not obsessed with curl definition or loose curl patterns, sometimes ppl naturally have these textures.....
Yelly Yellez it actually isn't that simple. Get over it
+Yelly Yellez - omg- who made up this stupid hair type- ain't that serious
Exactly its based on curl size and shrinkage how does ur hair look 4c cuz u didnt do anything with it? She is bascially saying her unkempt 4a hair looks 4c. Thats disgusting!
Courtney Young same here❤️
You are right--products and how you use them makes hair look different!
Period. The end.
CHEREKA98 👍😌
“I’ll put a screenshot if I feel like being petty” **me waiting to see if she was feeling petty** POOF A SCREENSHOT 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i paused just so i can read bc im petty too.
Exactly😊
Same
You keep speaking but they are not listening. So sad you have to address this a second time. *the black natural hair community is too concerned about hair type, it's ridiculous* Just focus on learning your hair and getting some knowledge from videos
Elizabeth - I agree. I hate it so much
I.
Elizabeth - i can’t control my hair and i’m so jealous of my cousin’s hair! she can do and easy bun and i can’t even derange my hair :((
Ignore the haters cousin. Just do you and let them be mad when your hair is flourishing💁🏾
❤️
I don't even have the same hair texture as Amber but I value her advice so much. Her tips have worked for my hair. And she keeps it real. Always my favorite cousin❤
Thank you so much love! ❤️
One of the many things I Love about you and your Channel is you keep it REAL! natural hair has texture gets a bit looser because of the weight as it grows, you have Long hair! I know you don't need to be defended, BUT you are One of the Most Real, thoughtful, honest youtubers I watch. Thank you for being transparent, Your Awesome!
thank you so much ❤️
Hi cousin, so basically she mad because her hair doesn't look as good as yours. I do what you do, use same products and mine don't look exactly the same, but I smile in the mirror thinking I'm too cute and say "close enough" 💁😄❤
😂 I'm sure it's beautiful! ❤️
😂❤❤ hey cousin, you cute ! Loved your comment
Exactly
Aww it’s cute how you said “close enough”❤️
I bet your hair looks amazing
I don't believe in hair typing. My hair goes from 4c,4b, and 4a all in one week 😂
Me too 😂😂. When I first went natural I was 4a. Then I became 3c 4a from there to 3c now I'm 3b3c ...🤣 as it grows it changes. I wonder where I'll be a year from now 🤭
@@iyrealax1049 Yuh your hair do changes as u grow up have u seen the curly girl method?
@@iyrealax1049 it's been 2 where you at now
Amber i wouldnt even be trying to explain.
Ali
this must be facts bc 7 years ago my hair wasnt curly like it is now... thanks for this info
Yes, most people's curl pattern changes after puberty.
ROCK AND TOLL TINA TURNER IM YODELING
Learning to love my 4b/4c hair ,14 years old, growing it out and never had a weave or braids. Love your video and your hair texture keep it up
I totally concur that having properly moisturized hair can "change" your texture.
Totally agree with you. I switch up my look all the time. Sometimes my hair looks 4c sometimes it looks 4a. I love the versatility of our hair.
thank you! and you're so right!
Thank you very much, it helps a lot!
Aww thank you so much! And it's so funny whenever I wear my hair wild that's when I get the most compliments on my hair from my boyfriend lol
Latisha Beebe i dont think my hair likes silicone as well. Ive been using cantu shea butter leave in and i feel like it kinda dries my hair
emiiee cx o girl my hair hates cantu lol
Just some things I've noticed w/ my hair 🙄 sorry it's long
(DL jones) Right!
I love your channel it helps me learn how to manage my hair. Keep doing what your doing you are helping people like me. Thank you.
Cuzzin Im a little over 3 years natural and my hair texture continues to change like every year lol! And i have absolutely no chemical in my hair lol. Hair gon do what hair gon do and I let my hair be an individual and I'm just enjoying the ride lol
RIGHT! I'm not here to stifle my hair's creative journey lol
Hair Mary i know that's right 😂
we got problems if we're fighting people over their hair texture
Girl I think your videos are great, new products come out all the time and I appreciate all your reviews and keep doing what you do.
Aneesia Spence 4c hair isn’t bad
As a huge Tupac fan, I love your channel name, theme song, and the phrase The Makaveli of Hair. Subbed instantly lol
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
That chipmuck voice ALWAYS makes me LOL.
I agree with you Amber.
The appearance of your hair varies depending on how you take care of your hair and what products you use on your hair.
This makes so much sense and I finally understand why the hell my hair be frizzy on day two. I need to really look at ingredients.
I love your videos / personality and that chipmunk voice you add in clips!😂
Chile. Ain't nobody worrying about misinformed or insecure women throwing shade. You do you. I enjoyed watching your hair journey. 😀
I get what your saying, my hair changes when i do certain things to it too. Your hair is very beautiful & u can do with it whatever u please..ppl need 2 shut up or don't watch if they don't like it. I enjoy your vids..keep em coming!
you are a godess so dont let others bring u down people reflect thuer misgivings or jealous ways
I'm roooolling. Amber: I'll put a screenshot here if i feel like being petty **2.4 secs later...screenshot appears** I LIIIVE LOL
😂😅
Hi cousin,
I just wanted to say I love your Channel, your realness and your honesty. Do what comes natural to you and thank you for sharing from your heart.😊
In regards to hair with woman and men of color, it is always in a state of change (like the wind).
Simpli_Nisa what part is she from? I'm new lol. I live in Tuscaloosa
I want to say congrats to you. You know how to change it, to suit it to what you want. That’s good. I encourage you to continue your hair journey, you’ve come a long way and you should continue and don’t give up. God bless you, the Lord be with you. God’s favor is on you, don’t worry.
Same! My hair now looks very similar to how it is in the shower, just a bit of shrinkage. I agree with you on that
I appreciate your videos and they've helped me out A LOT!! Also you don't need to validate yourself to HATERS!!!
I'm glad I watched this. I think I'll seriously give the CG method a try to refresh my curls
You have BEAUTIFUL hair! Please don't be concerned with what the viewers say. You have the right to do you what you want with YOUR hair. Be blessed!
I see that Memphis grizzly hat! Southern girl! Hey cousin 👋🏾
YEAH! I love the Grizzlies! I go to at least one game every year!
This is true💗I love the versatility of my type4 hair!!Btw-you know you have type 4 hair when you have MAJOR shrinkage💗💗💗Love it!
New to your channel and I love your theme 😭😭😭😭 "Hair Mary" "The Makaveli of Hair" so obsessed
thank you! ❤️
Thanks for the video. I think your hair is beautiful. I also don't think you should have to validate your hair texture to anyone. Any person with natural hair KNOWS that different products and methods will give you different results. Keep doing you love!
1 year without shampoo 😨😨😨
I can't imagine
Ikr... don't judge me lol
This myth about not shampooing afro hair needs to stop!
whats the myth?
How did that work for her?
Afrakoma alot of people don't use shampoo because it strips the natural oil from your hair
That intro girl🥴
PERIODT. You own that🥴
I feel like you've addressed this before... this is crazy... like what ???! Why are they even questioning you .
Rissa J jealousy. Most likely people who want her type of curl pattern and don't have it. Seems people still have issues with their hair texture . That's why they get mad in the comments of people who have looser curl patterns
Telling them they aren't really natural or that they couldn't possibly have any hair struggles
Now that your hair is 3A, does your hair still shrinks when wet or no? It would be interesting to know
I changed my hair texture too.
I don't understand why people are always talking about people's hair texture changing!!! .....and they don't even understand the semantics of it!
"I'll put the screenshot here if it feel like being petty" *puts screenshot up* 😂😂😂 I love it you're doing great sweetie
Sara Noel 😂😂
I had to pause you at 0:29 you went Tupac on them tho😂😂 go head sis 👏🏾👏🏾
You’re beautiful girl. Us dark skin girls rule
I don't look mixed but i have "mixed" hair so i guess it throws some people off.
yayadrew sameeeeee
Same
Let's make love and not war. Let's bring each other up and stop breaking down. There are already too many ppl doing trying to break us down as black women. Keep up the good work Mary. Your hair is beautiful!
I just don't see a difference
I didn't either. I thought it was clear that my hair was just "tame" in some pictures and fluffy in others. But clearly folks out here thinking I'm "shady"... smh
ArghRawrWhoa me either
So cute how you started the video. I am trying so hard to try and change my texture without going back to chemicals.

Hair Mary you are so right!
Thank you, love! You're so right ❤️
Hair Mary you're welcome. Girl, these fools need to sit all the way down lol I just CAN NOT with them!
