Thank you for sharing this important lesson from the indigeneous peoples of the Amazon. One can generalize the principle of reciprocity to anything we extract from Mother Earth. By giving up something valuable for what we extract we can destroy the vampire we are now. Reciprocity would make us seperate our needs from our wants and show respect to those we received it from. This would turn the irresponsible and destructive ‘little brother’ into a custodian of Mother Earth. Let’s see where we can apply the principle of reciprocity anywhere in our own lives and take responsibility for our needs and forget about our wants.
