Please get a 30 or 40 series GPU if you do pc gaming on this tv, your just leaving so much performance on the table a big waste.
What are your desk dimensions?
BTW, u can disable ASBL in like 1 minute with color control app, u just install it on PC, if it share same wi fi/internet as soon u open app u see ur TV connected, and service menu will open on tv and u disable asbl, no need for special remote or anything.
I'm actually planning on picking one up after work today. Great video, thanks!
I believe that even ALL MIGHT would approve of this message😅! Always make some phenomenal content and are the reason for my last 4 purchases, thank you for being so reliable and genuinely fair with your reviews, it’s helped me out tremendously when it came to solid decision making and not making sporadic choices with needless cost on things that just simply aren’t needed. Have a blessed day sir and know that your doin “the lords work😂” with these super fresh reviews!
It’s my everything, mounted on the bunk window of my semi truck. I use it for TV and console gaming, and intend to use it when I get my next laptop
Great review! I like your solution for the auto dimming.
I've been using this TV as a monitor for 1 year. I use it daily on Windows for 3D modeling, architecture and gaming. Overall I am very happy with it. The OLED holds its reputation as an amazing panel. I did a ton of research before buying it, however, after one year of use, I realize any of the reviews mentioned the weakest point on this TV. It is not auto dimming (I use mine at 20% brightness just fine), not burn-in (dark mode looks amazing), not the screen size (I want a bigger one lol). The bad part that no one talks about is: the subpixel layout on this TV creates a NOTICEABLE edge around green and yellow colors! If you work on things like websites with white background and then choose a bright green or yellow accent color for your design, that edge really shows and you will be frustrated.
About how far back do you usually sit from the monitor I’m interested in buying the 42 c3 but I’m reading mixed reviews from people stating that it’s too big or for others there’s no issues
except everyone talks about colour fringing?
I am using the C3 55 as a monitor and it's awesome. It's worth noting the newer c2/c3 have a different pixel layout to older OLED and this really counteracted any burn in... but make sure you get 5/6 year warranty.
I just purchased this tv for work. I do not do any gaming, but having the large screen for multiple windows, crisp text, and bright colors is a game changer.
Text ain't crisp due to the subpixel layout. And I assume you have static content on it for long periods of time, good luck trying to keep the panel in good condition for years to come.
@@disadadi8958 I actually returned it and purchased the Samsung 43” QN90B.
@@rpickrel4 probably a smart choice
Great vid, thanks for this! How close are you to the TV? I just built a desk and its only about 24 inches deep so I'd be pretty close. I think my use cases (console gaming, pc gaming, photo editing, watching sports) outweigh the issues being too close to the screen bring though. Thoughts?
If you have a 30 series or 2.1 hdmi - get this - it's unreal in immersion - and I use it as a software engineer and split windows in fours, it's like have four screens, works awesome and looks amazing!
Agreed. I have a 65” C1 Oled with the evo panel from the panel lotto and it is amazing. I have my Xbox series x, ps5, switch Oled, Roku 4k and analogue products connected to it and looks amazing. Been toying with the idea of buying the nvidia 4090 for my nr200p case and paired with my c1 I hear it’s amazing
@@eplugplay8409 The fidelity you get from a PC is miles ahead of the consoles :) To play on something so smooth, yet so clear and vibrant, is a great experience. Boggles my mind people spend so much on a PC, yet skimp on the screen...
@@GramKracker88 I have a decent 1440p monitor that I just bought (VG27AQL1A) and looks fantastic paired with my 3060 TI for 1440p gaming at 165hz.
@@eplugplay8409 Came from a 1440p Samsung 144hz - it was great for sure - so much better than my old 1080p 60 experience.
Did you experience the auto dimming feature during work? Did you manage to disable it somehow?
Great review, do you find the image to be blurrier when playing at 1440p on a this 4K screen?
The walnut accents on the tower...chef's kiss!
I have the 65" version for my PS5 and main Media usage. I'm planning to get a 42" for my main PC rig as well. Thank you for this informative video.
After trying to play 4k off my 3080 12GB from my 65", I'm ditching my duel monitor 1440p setup as this TV will make my setup look a lot cleaner. 1440p even looks great on this TV too if I ever do need to downscale a bit.
I had this C2 42" for a while as my PC monitor. I was disappointed with the dimming, extremely annoying. Also it has connectivity and flickering issues with HDMI 2.1 cables. I sold it and bought a 38" ultrawide monitor and very happy with my choice.
@@sampsalol I've been using the C242 with my PC for 5 months now and haven't had any issues with my HDMI 2.1 cable. There was an issue early on with text being fuzzy over HDMI but LG fixed that a few months ago.
@@sampsalol u can disable dimming google it
I just got an OLED TV, and using it as a monitor as well. So far I love it and have very little complaints
RESPECT! ✊🏾
Thx for the video, I plan to buy one of this for a macbook/Xbox set up. I noticed that your macbook is plug by usb-c, are you using a hub or a usb-c to hdmi cable ?
Great video what are the sizes of your desk relating to length and width and is it sufficiant big to be far enough from the LG C2 Old?
This video is perfect for me bc I also have a 2070 and I didn’t think about 1440p 120hz being an option! Thought I’d have to just live with 4K 60hz
Or you could buy an adapter
Gorgeous work! Question, do you feel like the dimming drives you insane? I’ve seen a lot of people talk about that, but then say they love it overall. I see some people say they’ve used the factory remote to stop dimming, and other people say it doesn’t work. What’s your experience if you don’t mind sharing, please? Thanks!
i believe c2 has a possibility to remove dimming with an aftermarket controller, and c3 has that option removed entirely
Scored two 42" C2 for $799 each for me and my wife. Her job switched to two days a week in-office hybrid and mine just went full-time remote. Working on a 42" screen is the BIGGEST productivity game changer EVER!
Do you experience neck strain since it's not curved? How far do you sit? Considering this setup
oled panel is literally the worst purchase for most work like that. Static image for long periods of time, a lot of text that appears blurry with the oled subpixel layout... IF you don't do video or picture editing for your work it's literally quite a bad investment
@@disadadi8958 You literally just explained the opposite of my experience up to this point.
@@kevkeisha really? LCD with same pixel density produces clearer text, and if you have static content on it for 8 hours a day, the panel won't last very long
Don't the auto-dimming make it hard to work?
I use a 65 as a monitor 😂. People used to think 27 was too big back in 2010, then they thought 32 was too big, then 42, then 47, then 55, I'm living in the future where people think 77 is too big for a monitor 😂😂
Same setup paaji 😁
Looking to buy the same. Does it dim watching movies in the browser? Like Netflix?
🤣🤣
65 inch 4k is very low pixel density though. It's equivalent to a 32.5 inch 1080p screen, while windows is designed around 22-24" at 1080p. Of course this doesn't matter if you sit further from your display.
Once 6K and 8K become commonplace resolutions we'll see monitor sizes go up again. But on 4K you don't wanna go above 55" for monitor use
Thumbs up paaji 👍🙏
I didn't really like it at first because I was coming from a curved gaming monitor but after getting used to it and getting the settings tweaked just right it actually looks amazing. By far the best Monitor I've ever used with a Computer. Also, I bought the remote and removed that aggressive auto-dimming crap...it effects color and brightness even when you don't realize it is...it's far too aggressive. They removed the ability to do this on the C3, so don't get the C3 it's basically the exact same thing as the C2, in fact they hid the chip model number on the C3 as well so that people wouldn't know it's the same exact monitor.
it’s a TV tho not a monitor right?
@@powum Tv's are sophisticated enough now that you can use them as a monitor, and they will look just as good and perform just as good.
@@powum Also remember people play Console games on TVs so they are basically now taking Refresh rate and stuff into account where 10 years ago it wouldn't have been a good idea to game on a TV
@@unrealdevop No Display Port is a deal breaker for most PC gamers
@@EasyMoneySGbut there's HDMI? What's the deal?
I got a C3 just before Black Friday for about $860 (plus tax). I am using it exclusively as a PC display, paired with an RTX 3080ti. The only issue I've discovered is that if I allow my system to drive the FPS past 119hz the screen goes black. But that only happened when I was trying to use the display in SDR mode, before limiting my 'Max FPS' in the control panel. I'll also note that I've used some 40" TVs for Displays in the past, and as long as I can sit an appropriate distance from the display it's just a large display.
Amazing video as always
I not only appreciate the level of detail and time you pour into each and every video and product review, but love the commentary of getting curb stomped by children in Warzone. Cheers, fellow exhausted Dad!
Love my C2 since it launched. I need a PC/Console display that will not disappoint in gaming, when it comes to gaming features and colors/HDR. The thing that I really love about it is the lack of matte coating...Gloss is Boss!

Using LG C3 42” with Mac and PC via USB-C to HDMI cables. It allows me to do dual display in smaller 20” equivalent form, but really sharp text.
Your macbook pro is the 16 inch? if yes, question: you can put it on the bottom to use it on the bottom of the 42, the 16 won't interferes with the 42? Overall my goal is use the 16 inch and the main monitor and the 42 as secondary, to avoid use external keyboards or mouse.
Absolutely love that monitor shelf you have the c2 on. it feels like it was made for it. A little pricey but I might just have to save up for it. Is that the medium or the large?
This one’s the large. It’s hella pricey but worth it. It’s a buy once last forever type thing. Love it
How to set it up and what apps to use for the translate monitor mode
Good day, can you use a hdmi 2.1 to display port 1.4 cable? And will it run to 120hz ? I also have an older gpu the 5700xt. Im a bit hesitant to grab the C2 as can find much information on having this setup.
Hello there! I ran the 5700xt on a buddy of mine’s C2 and it did remarkably well however we got amazingly fair 1080p experiences and a solid 4k experience on low to medium settings going from 40 to 70 fps depending on the title. I then later on tried a 6900xt that was on a stellar sale and that seemed a bit more consistent with its frames numbers. Though to be fair I only played games that were on my radar at the time like mainstream esports titles and and the Witcher 3 , cyber punk was heck on wheels though for the 5700xt, but she pulled through a little better than I had guessed and then warframe! I wish you the best of luck with your set up and hope you have fun!!! Have a blessed day!💪🤓
Will you bother upgrading your pc or stick to console? Now I have my PS5 and with the price of current gpus I’m not so sure I want to continue with the pc path
I've been considering this. I have a Samsung M7B 43 inch smart monitor. It's only 60hz 4k which is ALMOST perfect for my Series X, but runs 4:4:4 chroma perfectly for PC text at only $400. Is the text presented properly? I've seen these returned for that productivity issue.
Text is good at bigger sizes but if you use 100% scaling in windows and display small text it's not even close to being as clear as it is on equivalent pixel density LCD display.
@Minimalistech Do you mind sharing what brand desk your using? I love this set up!
Yo! For sure
It’s actually a Karlby counter top + 3 Alex drawers and 1 adils leg set.
All of this is from ikea
You can sub out any countertop depending your preference. From Home Depot, ikea, wherever.
Cheers!
can I get the wallpaper link which is displayed for the 1st 10 seconds of the video?
Great video bro👏
Hello, i want to use this as productivity and gaming. However, lot of reviewers say that productivity is not good on oled as it will cause burn in. What do you think?
It’s fine for productivity. Text blur is so hard to see. I honestly can’t tell a difference
Great this video is just what I wanted to see! Just got a new custom pc and wanted to switch from 38UW to this c2. I think u got me convinced. Still capped at @120fps is the only downside imo. Plus I don’t think it will make a difference for you using a displayport cable because your card won’t be able to drive 4K more than 60fps no?
Thanks for the awesome video!
what are you using to scale the mac UI on the 42" oled?
Subbed cause you're an accountant too lol I'm a CPA that loves Tech. I'm surprised you haven't quite by now with all your subs. I"ll take these over busy tax season lol
2nd day with C2 and a new Corsair i-7400 4090 Vengeance. Main issue is like NOW when I am typing this, it's OK, but the white area is dim and looks gray. I turned off ALL the settings w/ser remote. Watched all the videos on set up, I WISH it was brighter. I game but I also work and I was studying for a test and the screen is white, and it annoys me. So not sure if I am doing something wrong?
Can you put a link to the walnut monitor stand etc, thanks
How is it compared to 55” LG C2? I heard the larger size are more brighter but I’ve always heard that the 42” has better ppi?
What is the height between the desk and the bottom of the screen?
Just ordered one and preparing for the new setup 😊
hello, can you tell me how it looks with BFI on? can you make a video about it? thank you
Thanks for the video! was considering getting the 42 C2 but was really worried about the SDR brightness being pretty low. Did you get to experience any SDR games like playing on Nintendo Switch, if so was it pretty decent or nah?
It enhances the switch my son plays on it just about everyday

should i wait for the c4 or should i just get the c2 or c3? im wondering if the MLA technology on the G series will come to the C4...i guess its a risk
I have the 55' for my xbsx absolutely beautiful display.
Have the 42 c2 bud is it safe to use it as a gaming pc monitor risk of burn in faster ?
I actually own this TV and bought it with the aim to use it like this. However in the end I’ve bought a G95T due to widescreen matte and no auto dimming. The C242 is amazing for gaming and movies though so when I build my office this year that will be side extension I’ll use both (it will be narrow so 42 tv will work well). I also considered the Apple display and have 2 older thunderbolt ones but I don’t do creative work so the G9 works better for me. We have so many of the same products and use cases I love your channel the moment I found it a long time ago!
The 42" C2 is peaches & cream. I love this display on my high end gaming PC.
Should i buy c2 42" or samsung neo g8 32" for console

Hi @MinimalisTech I am considering getting one of these for PC / PC Gaming use, but I'm concerned about OLED burn in with the static images this would bring. Are you seeing any of that on the C2? Thank you.
So far no burn in! One thing for sure is they have the pixel scrubbing automatic setup so i guess it’s done its job??
I imagine if id see anything it’d be about the 2.5 or 3 year mark. Hopefully not though 🤞🏽

Hi, Is the ppi of this TV matches ok in comparison with the computer monitors??
I think this have s ppi of ~110 as shown in googling, were as monitor has ~140
That's right. 32 inch, 4k has 137ppi while this is 110. 110 is equivalent ppi to a 1440p @ 27inch
You can use an addaptor from dp 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 bit you might have to sacrifice gsync to get it
At that point just get the LG Ultragear 45GR95QE-B. OLED with DP1.4/ hdmi 2.1 and 240hz with Gsync

What about USB-C? does oled C2 supports something like that?! i see you have your laptop connected with one cable so i am curious!
What kinda table depth (width) is required to view 42” comfortably?
Excellent video, thanks! Difficult to pull the trigger on a C2 now the C3 is out... C3 fixes the auto dimming in its latest firmware too. All depends on the price!
C2 much cheaper, and you can turn off dimming completely in Service menu. C3 improves dimming in dark scenes, but you will probably still see dimming in static desktop or logos, and you can't disable it in Service menu anymore.

Hi How was your experience?
I am leaning towards lg c2 42". A last question I watched 10s of youtube videos and read 10s of Reddit posts. But couldn't find that by hook or crook (external software, service remote etc)
can LG C2 42" do a split screen? For example, Hook up a laptop and pc to different HDMI and display at the same time.
What chair do you use?
Can u use alexa to trun it on and off?

Just bought one. Gonna try it out for a week but If I don’t like it will return. Worried about using it for work as I’m on zoom calls a lot I fear it the dimming will bother me too much
Interesting. The 42" may be the best for me. I have somewhat cramped space.
One canot seat in front of huge 43 in and surf websites so 32 some how manageable any oled model in 32 ? And promotion discounts bundle etc ?
Is there an issue with the short distance view for your eyes? I mean could it have bad effects sitting so near?
There seems to be a problem that my LG C2 OLED TV has, when it comes to connecting to a laptop. It's quite late in response times and the refresh rate is disappointingly low, despite being set to 120Hz on the laptop.
This is because the laptop HDMI port is 2.0, try using HDMI 2.1 to Thunderbolt 4 cable and plug it, also dont forget to disable GSync so you dont have black screens , you can use 4k 120hz, 10 bit. Also you might need to manually change the colour dept to 10 bits. I had same issue.
edit: Actually C2 has 48gb bandwitch so you might be ok with Gsync. If you experience flickers or black screens disable it.
Don't forget to change the HDMI input on the TV to be recognised as a PC, it will reduce the input lag even further and make your experience even smoother.
Do you notice grainy texture on the display it when displaying solid color like white/grey?
YES!
Not grainy, but all SOLID white backgrounds, LIKE WHAT AI AM TYPING NOW, it's not white at all, it's GRAY and Dim! Pisses me off. I want to like this, had 2 days and did ALL the settings and turned off all the things in service menu.

You can turn off auto dimming via the app or the tv itself. You don't need the remote.
Does benq halo backlight have a benifit having a window in the rear
None. I don’t use the rear light. Just the down firing illumination.
If it were a wall I’d use both
What kind of deal do youuuu use
What are you desk dimensions please?
where do you buy the monitor riser stand?

I noticed that you were looking up while using the tv. Aren't you having ergonomic issues?
I've been using a 50" Samsung MU8000 4k TV for years as a monitor. It's big, really big as a monitor. Good for working, but gaming is hard as the TV is larger then my FOV. I've been debating getting the 42" C2 OLED for months now, but I'm having a hard time to justify getting it as the 48" is the same price.
Just move back when gaming
Must-have software if you got an LG CX/C1/C2: ColorControl. You can easily switch between modes with hotkeys and get access to the service menu. - A happy C2 (and C9) owner.
Have the C2 hooked up to my pc with rtx 4090 !! It’s amazing !
The only problem i have is that with Gsync and vsync active during loading screens on games i have a little brightness flickering…
If i disable vsync the flickering goes away but i have screen tearing in games due to the 4090 beeing too powerfull (aka outperforming) for a 120 hz 4k screen 😅😅
Do you also have a fps cap? You get a big input latency increase without one when vsync is on.
@@Azraenore nope. I’ll try a 120fps cap thank you
@@ALM_Relaxed 115 actually, it must always be 5-3 fps under your refresh rate. If you reach 120 fps Vsync is engaged. Glad to be of assistance:)
Ah, and turn on ultra low latency as well. Sorry for being late.
I thought the brightness flickering was exclusive to VA panels due to their backligh voltage being sensitive to different refresh rates. Strange to hear similar issue exists with and OLED panel! Also, is there a way to disable the auto dimming feature mentioned in the video?
My fps is always locked at 119 when I look at it with vrr on the number is never updating
