Today I just wanted to go over the basic routine for the greenhouse tubs, add some more fish, and talk about hair algae. HOPEFULLY i will get out to get more plants soon! What are you guys doing?
I actually love the the sound of rain 🌧 falling and paired with with the tub water sound, it’s fantastic! I’m trying to type with a broken arm and it taken me 10 minutes to type this so I’m going Lol 😂 ouch but I’m totally loving your channel, I’m new
Get well soon Kymberly! You don't know me but I read your comment and thought that was a tremendous effort. Thank you for your comment and participation on our YouTUBE forum. 🧜♀️🧜♂️
love the success you've had in the new greenhouse. you've come so far!!! way to go "SUPA-STAR!" ps seems like you're becoming and expert in pond plants also - SWEET
I've been battling BBA in my 75 gallon for like over a year... it's not completely rampid and out of control, only because of my constant efforts with hydrogen peroxide, water changes, manual removal. Its SUCH a pain... I really really don't want to have to dig up my plants AGAIN and let them sit in hydrogen peroxide and water bath while I do as much of a deep clean on the tank and gravel that I can without severely traumatizing and/ or killing my tank inhabitants.... =/ Love your videos!!! =) you are awesome!
I live in N. Alabama and have guppies outside even in our upper 90 summers. Remember sucking heat out with a fan is better than trying to blow cool air in...which turns the heat into a convection oven.
Today my plants for the minipond I am building arrived. plus it's waterchanging day for the aquariums 🙃 your videos bring me into the right mood to start. 😊
Dear Rachel! Take Macrobrachium nipponense for your mini Ponds! I haven't Hire Algae in my tanks now. They can to eat babies of fishes, but they live very good with many common fishes
Have you made a video on species we can keep that are endangered in the wild? A list of them would be really cool. I found out that white cloud mountain minnows are endangered in the wild, they were already my favorite fish but knowing that im helping their species out made me more dedicated to keeping them. Looking for other fish to perserve 👍
If you cleaned and dried the algae you could make lil mermaid shirts of them :)) Wait, I just saw that the carnivores are blooming *awwww* I would be so happy if you made another video about the carnivores. The blossoms look like right out of a fairy tale
Your Daisy Rice Fish are especially beautiful! Love them. I have been so upset, I lost one of my Sewellia. It was my fault. I did water changing and forgot to plug the hob back in. The other 3 are doing fine thank goodness. When you are shipping again I will order more. I love them so much.
Have you ever thought of planting some rockgarden type plants in the gravel around the tubs? Something like aubrieta or soapwort? Could be a neat look.
In the last shot you have a red urn with hens and chicks in it. I have the same planter bit have difficult watering it. I'd love to see a deep dive into your Odd containers for plants on your other channel.
Looking real good! I'm gonna throw a tub together here for the wife, more of a display with a waterfall for the deck, but I'm hoping not too terribly different than what you've got going... but one instead of 30 🤣 Any suggestions on plant species for newbs?
I mean no disrespect to you or your husband. This is totally random but you are looking great. You have been one of my motivations in my weight loss. Thank you. Again if this is an out of place comment I'm sorry. 😬
By the greenhouse is looking amazing. the bog garden looks so good rn. wish you would take your time with the cam so we can get a better look at everything.
I appreciate the constructive criticism. Its really hard to shoot outside, as you cannot see what's happening on the viewfinder. I will try and slow down a bit for you! The point of two channels is I wanted to make as little or as much plant content as I wanted and people were complaining it was a fish channel.
@@RachelOLeary Huh i didnt know ppl were complaining. in that case im glad you decided to make a second channel instead of just not showing plant stuff. im still p new to plants and im loving them more and more. i keep finding things i really like and i fear one day ill run out of beautiful plants i can manage to not kill.
Well, lets just say the past week I've been Lazy! My plants, tanks and apt look great though after lots of cleaning, potting, mounting, and whatnot caught up. Now that things are opening up a tad more, I'll check into getting your orchid cuttings sent out to all soon. Your greenhouse and bog look really nice, and you're looking awesome yourself Rachel.... Have a great evening, and I'll catch you next time around. 👍👍👍😀

I've had a nightmare with algae in my tanks. I believe it came in from the plants that I purchased. Originally I had a stag horn algae issue which i believed was due to the flow being low. I added extra current and the staghorn did clear up only to be replaced with BBA. In the end I gave up and treated the tank with Easy Life Algexit and it has completely cleared up the tank. 2 months later, no more treatments required and absolutely no trace of algae. Cyanobacteria is another matter. It is growing between the glass and my aqua soil and I have to dig it out constantly. I'm wondering if I have excess phosphates in my tap water
I heard injecting Seachem Excel between the glass and the soil does wonders getting rid off cyanobacteria. Also, hydrogen peroxide 5% does a great job fighting cyanobacteria on plants or on top of the soil. The latter worked great for me recently. For the Seachem Excel treatment see this video by Green Aqua. From 2 minutes 30 seconds up. ruclips.net/video/nJNc4HjiVsg/видео.html For instructions on the hydrogen peroxide 5% treatment see this video. I this video it is recommended you turn the filtration off for 30 minutes prior to treatment until 30 minutes after the treatment before turning it on again but I really recommend leaving the filtration off for 60 minutes after treatment. ruclips.net/video/VMInjM0d9OE/видео.html
Rachel----I am interested in why you set your water-level so low in those plastic tubs? Is it because the fish species are jumpers? I like to get as much water in as I can! Btw---I presume not everyone's tap water is suitable to use without taking precautions? Chlorine and other additives?
I have a well- so no water conditioner is needed. As for the levels- outside, I have overflows drained so they don't flood, in the greenhouse- they evaporate rapidly so i top off weekly.
I’m having massive problems with red algae in my mini ponds. No matter how many times I strip it back it keeps on coming back within a week. Any suggestions as to how to beat the beggar?
I set up my first 2 summer tubs this year thanks to your inspiration! Just keep on getting the bastard red algae 😂 it’s killing/ dyeing (literally) my elodea densa and starting to rot leaves on my marginal lilies leaves. They are both 5 gallon hardware boxes that i repurposed. Birds keep on bathing in it, might that be an aspect to the issue? As far as I’m aware it isn’t harming the platies I put in there, it’s just ruining the asthetic of the ponds especially as they are semi see through opaque 😂
Rachel O'Leary okay thanks 😊 i will go collect some duckweed from my local harvest point (local duck pond) later today. There may be some good daphnia exc in there too. If not my last resort will be to add a cover and try some guppy grass 😂
Somebody beat me to it but you look awesome luv! I hope that means you are feeling better as well. I wish you the best health!

I did a few videos on m y plant channel about them, plantaholic, if you would like to see
@@RachelOLeary Thank you for the hint. I thought I was youtube-firm, but failed to read the news. Beautiful!

I haven't gone out yet to check, but have my fingers crossed
Everything looks nice

I’m hoping to have a greenhouse soon for koi ponds. Yours looks nice.
Great video again, can you use algeafix from API ? In your tubs in green house?
Rachel. I have three 110 tubs full of African Cichlid fry. I noticed frog eggs and tadpoles hatching is that going to harm my peacocks and gap fry
I mean no disrespect to you or your husband. This is totally random but you are looking great. You have been one of my motivations in my weight loss. Thank you. Again if this is an out of place comment I'm sorry. 😬
Thank you! I have been spending a lot of time hiking lately and its showing
Why would you apologise for complementing someone..?
What’s a good fish brand do you use for your comets goldfish?
U r awesome and amazing...keep it up mam.. stay safe
There's a lot of plant weed to get off the surface? Might it be possible to dry them and use them as pellets for feeding shrimp?
Hi and thank you for sharing! I was wondering where do u get your tubs and what size are they?
Thank you and stay safe!
Great video 👍
Enjoyed ur interesting video.
Morning Rachel...#fishfam love

Yea, I was content having them combined (and it meant they were monetized), but I didn't want to alienate my core audience so made a judgement call.
@@RachelOLeary did many ppl unsub to this channel? or did most ppl stay subbed to this one and also sub to plantaholic?
Have you ever kept Mexican Dwarf Crayfish (CPO crayfish)? Might be a good option as a livestock guardian for your summer tubbing bins.
They are illegal in my state

have you done a video on how an aquarium club works? fish breeding ect

Yep! I have an entire succulent rock garden
@@RachelOLeary Wow, do you have any videos of it in your playlist? You are awesome so I'd love to see your rock garden.
Fun new term for aufwuchs ...periphyton: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periphyton
how hot does the water get in the greenhouse? its amazing that the Neocaridina shrimp can survive that AND breed!

What and how often are you feeding all the fish and shrimp in the tubs? Or are the bugs enough for the fish?
I dont generally supplement unless trying to get a head count
You must have low pH, and high acidic with rain water yes?

Where do you get the rectangular tubs that are in the greenhouse? They look like a great size.
They are made by laguna, a hagen owned company
Would the masonry tubs you use for the bog garden work for fish?
Is it possible to cross breed golden white clouds with normal?
yes
With your ponds outdoors have you ever had any issues with frogs or toads taking over with laying eggs?
I havent but usually get some visitors
What do you do with the rest of your mornings?
work in the fishroom, be a mom, mow the lawn, weed the bog
Have you done a species spotlight on that Daisy’s Rice Fish? They look awesome and may be exactly what I’m looking for to add to my tank.
I have! ruclips.net/video/-5lzvg8DJJ8/видео.html
