    well done!! i did this on my ml 270cdi 3 years ago.
    removal of common rail and thermostat wasnt needed on my ml 270 cdi. also i didnt need to do any work from under the car. (so no starter motor removal needed) it was a pain to get to all intake manifold bolts though

    so, basically they start with the inlet manifold then build the rest of the car around it :(
    Thanks for the video though!

    If you delete the EGR, you will not have this problem anymore. With EGR, you have to clean/change the Manifold every 100'000.
    I had error message in my car from DPF sensor, just drove with the EGR disconnected for a long travel, as result I completely cleaned Manifold and Exhaust System.
    Now the car is like reborn.

    Great job with restricted access to many bolts. Similar process on ML270 but manifold has additional rail for butterfly valves driven by electric motor. Valves often fail allowing boost to escape intake and lose power. EGR shunt can prevent soot build up.

Do you know at what torque pressure the screws should be tightened? I saw you use a torque wrench. And what are the screws should be tightened only with torque wrench. Thank you.

    If the intake manifold is damaged, apart from power loss, should the idle be erratic? In my case I have loss of power, seems like the turbo do not engage, but the idle is ok.

    • @workshopmg4260
      @workshopmg4260  4 года назад

      It could be a limp mode, if the intake receives wrong pressure reading, it will put your car in a safe mode. Idle should be ok, as boost pressure is only generated when you put your foot down.

    • @workshopmg4260

      Thank you. Your dipstick should come out and give you access to one screw. It might be attached to a bracket in the middle. I'm not sure what to suggest, just be patient, as it is very easy to damaged the head on the bolts. Try using extension, or even a spanner with a torx to get into tigh spaces. Good luck, hope you manage to get it off.

    • @workshopmg4260
      @workshopmg4260  5 лет назад

      Hello, If you have added a muffler to your car and it lost its power I think this means the exhaust gasses are not coming out as easy as they should. It could be a wrongly welded muffler or there is a lot of rubbish inside the collector. Also scan your car for error messages, it could also be a sensor.

    Hello,
    I would like to ask you about the item Intake Manifold Control Swirl Covers. Is it possible to remove under the car the Intake Manifold Control Swirl Covers without having to completely expand the item. Because in the video it wasn’t shown and it was removed when you expanded the Intake Manifold.
    I would be grateful if you would get in touch with me.

    • @workshopmg4260
      @workshopmg4260  4 года назад +3

      To remove the swirl flaps, intake manifold will have to come off, as they are assembled from inside. You can remove the motor from underneath the car, that is opening and closing the flaps, making sure the flaps are in open position, remove the arm and blank the holes. (I never tried this but I heard people do it) in my opinion the best way is to remove the intake, disassemble the flaps and permanently blank the holes. That way u are 100% sure the intake is straight through.

      Dan Mc Carthy slight difference on ML. The transmission dipstick is on the other side but might be like this for left hand drive version. Can also remove the front guard liner for improved access from underneath. From memory plumbing for fuel heater is only tubing running through the manifold.
