I like that Susan made a dark person and a pale person try them on camera because that is authentic and non biased. I appreciate that so much as I am a dark person myself!
I agree!! I honesty wish people would do that more. I'm light skined but sunscreen white cast shows up on me like crazy. I like to base my decision on what it looks like on a darker person but don't see it being demonstrated enough.
NOTE: I see the comments about sunscreens with benzene in them. Please everyone, calm down. First, be sure to check the list of sunscreens that MIGHT have benzene in them. Then see if their lot or batch number matches the list too. Not every product was affected. I encourage you to find some reputable chemists and dermatologists for more information. From what I gathered, it’s not a huge deal. If your sunscreen is on the list, toss it out of an abundance of caution. Who else has come to the conclusion that chemical sunscreens are where it’s at? I have some mineral favorites (and a lot of hybrid favorites like the EltaMD Tinted UV Clear), but I find myself reaching for my chemical sunscreens a lot more.
I tried SO HARD to find a mineral sunscreen while I was pregnant! I'm a very pale olive - tints were all wrong, and the white cast, well, nothing cute about that. I am so glad I finally switched to chemical. They are so much more elegant and easy to wear. The only sticking point has been sensitive eyes, so thank you for the setting tip.
Mineral sunscreens never match my skin just right, but I was fortunate enough with the Mychelle dermaceuticals one and i love it, but because it makes me so matte I am layering a chemical sunscreen underneath
I wish you would take the study and comments about benzene more seriously. Any chance that a product MIGHT have benzene in it is to risky of a chance. Caution should absolutely be taken, even if something MIGHT have benzene in it. You owe it to your followers to be more responsible than this. Please be safe everyone!
I just bought a new $17 sunscreen and wish I had waited for this video. This was so comprehensive and informative. I deeply appreciate you testing it on multiple skin tones!
Hi! Just a note that the Solimo sunscreen was on the list of benzene-contaminated products put out by Valisure. It might have just been that particular batch of Solimo sunscreen that was contaminated, but for now I would hold off on purchasing that product.
Thank you for demonstrating the sunscreens using the proper amount ie. 1/4 teaspoon or a LARGE dot for the face. I hate it when creators claim a sunscreen is nice to wear or doesn’t have a cast when they only apply two or three thin fingers amount
Just an FYI - the Valisure recent study of benzene in sunscreen shows many of the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen sprays as having benzene above acceptable levels. Of course this may only be a batch contamination issue, but may want to check the benzene list and batch numbers for your product just in case. Many of Neutrogena sunscreens were on the list of those to avoid and dispose of immediately. Hopefully these Susan recommends are on the safe list.
I made sure to check the list and the Neutrogena invisible daily defense face mist broad spectrum SPF 50 was on the safe list for benzene in case that helps anyone. 🙂
This video came out RIGHT before the whole Benzene list came out. Which means she filmed this even earlier. She DOES say to throw away sunscreen that is on the list to be safe. I think she's just trying to encourage people to be calm and not panic if they've been using these sunscreens already. Just throw it out and play it safe from now on! If you're really concerned about it, especially if you've been using these sunscreens, talk to a dermatologist who can give personalized information based on your situation! Everyone be safe!!
I struggle with chemical sunscreens so much... they burn my eyes every time. Breaks my heart the purito wasn’t an effective sunscreen but it was the only chemical sunscreen that I could tolerate. I’ll give some of these a try but I can’t wait for your mineral sunscreen video!
I wish I can use chemical ones but, they really give me a bad taste and irritate my eyes so bad, so I have to stick with the heavy pasty mineral ones, the lighter ones are kind of expensive for my budget.
I literally just bought two Neutrogena sunscreens today, love the sheer mist! I love sunscreen, you have made me a huge believer and advocate for protecting your skin...instead of tons of lipstick I now buy different types of sunscreen! 🌞☀😍
Both the neutrogena face mists are on the Valisure SAFE list where benzene was NOT detected, a lot of comments said they were but I think they’re confusing the neutrogena body sprays with the face mists, a lot of their body sprays were found to have benzene; the solimo spf however was on their benzene containing list 😕
Hi thank you for this video! When ulta had their big spring sale I bought the tula dewy face sunscreen spf 30 the 1.7 oz for half off and I love it! Unfortunately I can’t afford it and it didn’t last long. I watched your video and you were very thorough About each one and to me the Bindi Sands one because on your face it looked as glowy as the tula one. And I can afford $10 for way more product 2.5 oz and spf of 50 I’d say that was a steal!
Hi Susan! Like you I suffer with melasma and the first summer I experienced it I was only using chemical sunscreen because I am Indigenous and my skin tone gets too dark for a lot of mineral sunscreens. And although I never burned with chemical sunscreen my melasma was still raging and when I went to my derm he said that chemical sunscreens are great for a lot of people, but with melasma you NEED to use mineral and if you can find a tinted mineral sunscreen it’s even better. Once I changed to mineral, which has been a journey to find ones that don’t look ashy on me (I love coloursciece and eltamd) I finally started to be able to control my melasma. You put so much effort in fighting your melasma but then I see you using chemical sunscreens and I wanted to share my experience so hopefully it will help you or someone else struggling with it!
I would love a video about great body sunscreens. Living in Florida it’s hard to find one that doesn’t make you feel extra gross when it’s already nasty outside.
I find it's often the ones that has avobenzone and oxybenzone that bother me most! Japanese chemical sunscreens without avobenzone are usually easier on the eyes for me 😅

People don’t like chemical because the chemicals they usually make it with have evidence of how it affects the coral reefs and how it affects our hormones . The chemicals also sink into our pores
I would stay away from the Bondi Sands sunscreens. I don’t think the actual SPF comes anywhere near what the label says. I love their self-tanning products, so I got both their face and body SPFs as soon as they were available in the US. I loved them and thought they were great, but I live in the Midwest and started using them in the winter, so I was always inside. I recently went to Florida and used both SPFs there. I was liberally applying and reapplying at least every 2 hours like I normally do, but I got the worst burns I’ve ever had in my life. Usually if I burn it’s just a light pink and goes away by the next day. This was lobster red and lasted 5 days. I’d love to see an independent company test their SPF.
those neutrogena sprays actually aren’t supposed to be sprayed directly to your face like that. i got them with the idea i could use it for easy application, but as soon as i sprayed it immediately hurt lol. the back says to spray 6inches from skin into your hand. just something to keep in mind
Per my opinion - it's not good for re-application if you are out all day/ in the beach. But very practical for daily re-application given initial morning application is foolproof!
I believe that on a spray form you can waste a lot of product by misting directly on your face. I reapply by spraying on my hands and then putting on my face 😊
Would the alcohol in the spray sunscreens be bad for a guy who has just shaved? I'm trying to find a good matte finish sunscreen/moistureizer to apply after shaving. Most facial moisturizers seem to make my face sweat really bad.
I live by the sea and I have I always complained that my eyes hurt when I get sunscreen in when I have been out for a while. I can't believe I never thought to set it around my eyes.
Hi susan! Great video as usual. I've read a post about sunscreen can cause cancer when contaminated by benzene, and most of it are the spray and gel type. Is that true tho? Because some of the list mentioned neutrogena sprays 😶
Several of the Neutrogena sprays were on the benzene list, but not the two that Susan recommended. You can google the list and get a link to a table with all the recalled sunscreen batch numbers
Hi Susan-I am looking for a facial sunscreen spray. Bought Neutrogena spf 50 spray today but I do not like the scent at all. Do you have any recommendations for facial spray? Thanks for this helpful video.
Are any of these sunscreens not going to be a problem if they get in your eyes? My main issue is that sunscreen inevitably seems to end up in my eyes, through sweat or rubbing (not an option to not touch face). Face cream is not an issue, but every sunscreen I've tried stings and causes irritation in the eyes.
I want to try the neutrogena mist. The bottle says not to spray directly on the face. How are you finding the direct spray? How do you avoid your eyes?
Hello hope all is well, I’m now to trying new skincare products I have combination skin I recently purchased a few products and was curious if I’m using them the right way. I’ve been using Clinique moisture 100H auto-replenishing hydrate then follow up withTula protect + glow daily sunscreen gel broad-spectrum SPF 30 should I be using both? In my AM routine.
I’ve recently learned all chemical sunscreens are bad for you especially those with skin of color and anything under 50 is not sufficient for protection. Would love to know if you had to personally choose would you use chemical sunscreen long term. I feel if the answer no then I feel it is not a good product. It’s taken me forever to find the right products to risk taking the chance that it is not healthy for the skin. On a second note I absolutely love your naturium products have been alternating with The Ordinary
For my daily sunscreen ie in front of the computer, I really love Olay Complete 30 SPF for sensitive skin. My dermatologist recommends it to me and I love it! I am acne-prone and this doesn't make me break out. My outside sunscreen I love Neutrogena Ultra Sheer body mist 70 SPF. The bottle can be turned upside down so you can spray your back! For the face when outside I also use Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 55. Being acne-prone it is so hard to find sunscreens that don't make me break out so I am always on the lookout for good ones to try.
I like that Susan made a dark person and a pale person try them on camera because that is authentic and non biased. I appreciate that so much as I am a dark person myself!

Several of the Neutrogena sprays were on the benzene list, but not the two that Susan recommended. You can google the list and get a link to a table with all the recalled sunscreen batch numbers
it was mostly their body spray mists (like the bigger bottles)
It’s a great informative video!
How I love all your videos 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hi Susan-I am looking for a facial sunscreen spray. Bought Neutrogena spf 50 spray today but I do not like the scent at all. Do you have any recommendations for facial spray? Thanks for this helpful video.
The pink and yellow Neutrogena bottle is the one that I bought. The scent bothers me.
i love this video!!
Susan how do I go about dating someone who likes to sun tan and doesn’t listen to me about using sunscreen and not going tanning!
Love your lashes. What is the brand, may I know? :-)
Would you recommend setting sunscreen if you’re having a beach day?
Would love a review on b.tan sunscreens! I saw them at Walgreens and they looked quite affordable but I already have enough haha
@Susan, where’d you get your high neck tank top from the ‘Get Rid of Milia’ video? It’s beautiful!
Bondi sands doesn’t sting my eyes but leaves me pretty shiny and I feel like I sweat and my face gets very wet looking.
I’m not sure but I think that spray sunscreen is contaminated with benzene, just giving you the heads up, so you can check on the list.
