I’m trying to understand why the family has treated OP with such disrespect and contempt on her birthday and other occasions. I was a twin. My twin died because of medical complications. My parents NEVER brought up her passing at my birthday. They celebrated me for the miracle that my survival was! I was always grateful for the way they treated me. Any family that treats a child like this group of idiots did, doesn’t deserve to have her in their lives. Be happy. Find people who love you for who you are. You are worthy of love and happiness. Happy birthday to you and many more!

It's classic narcissist parent behavior. They pick one kid to be the golden child and feed on the misery of the other child. The golden child becomes a narcissist, too, and proceeds to feed off the misery of the other kid. OP will always be the victim of these emotional parasites unless she breaks away from them.

Everyone handles stuff differently. My birthday (which is this coming Saturday) is a doozy. I was born 12 years to the day of my grandma's death. My favorite Tio died on my 21st birthday. My old school Dean killed his wife, MIL, and 3 kids on my birthday. One of my other Tios had a heart attack on my birthday. My Tio who died on my 21st, his son died on my birthday.... You get it.. I don't celebrate my birthday, and neither does my family.

Yeah, that's because your parents are sane human beings. My best friend actually went through the same experience. Her twin sister died at birth as well. But sadly her mother was/is insane and constantly told her that "her sister would've been smarter/prettier/better" every time she was upset. My friend went no contact with her but she still suffers from the experience today.

Every woman that I know who has crippling pain is in too much pain to be a jerk. I put my daughter on birth control because her hormones were so bad, and her cramps were disabling. She usually just messaged me that she hurt too bad to go to school, and stayed in bed. She didn't use it as an excuse to completely disregard the family. She still bleeds and has cramps, even on birth control, but she can function now. That brat got it in her head she could behave however she wanted and blame her period. My first period started during a holiday when we planned a family trip to a small amusement/nature park with my much younger cousins. Like, literally everyone was already in the car except my mom who´s in bathroom and me, who waited my turn to pee before we go. I suddenly felt very wet between my legs, and since there´s nobody in the house, simply pull down my pants and voila, everything was already red and dripping.
We delayed the trip for about half an hour while my mom show me how to use the pads, scrub the pants, and mop the floor. She asked me if I´m still okay to go (since I´m one of the designated babysitter), and I said yes because I didn´t feel anything at that time.
The cramps and mood swing hit about 90 minutes later while we were in the middle of the hiking trail in the park, with me having to run after the 5-years-old cousin I was assigned to watch over. I couldn´t do anything except tried to ignore it and cried on my mom´s lap at that night.

St-1. NTA. Your sister is an an attention seeker. Celebrate your birthday with your friends stop inviting your family, she has them wrap around her fingers, it’s too much!

Story 1: NTA. Let’s assume everything that has happened to your Sister is 100% true. This still doesn’t need to be said at your party. She can afford to have a tragic life in the company of her immediate family alone.

S1. Next birthday keep your mouth closed. Spoiled sis can't ruin the party if she doesn't know there is one. Or, go somewhere as far away as you can. Then tell your family the party is happening at a different place that's in the opposite direction & takes a couple of hours to get to. Then shut off your phone & ask the others to shut theirs too. By the time they realize that they can't find where you are it'll be too late to crash the real party. Good luck

As someone who has suffered PMDD (PMS on steroids) since my first period, I literally screamed and cried i couldn't find the dress i wanted to wear to school that morning, I had to learn to not abuse people and my behavior wasn't excused just because of my hormones. Get her hormones checked and put her on birth control. It helps. A LOT

Tattoo story: it doesnt sound like your wife genuinely wants a tattoo, bc she has no idea what art she wants. I think this is some kind of power struggle. If she actually wants the tattoo for the art, and not to prove a point to you, then good. But as it is, it sounds like shes trying to prove something.

Story 3: What does the father think a period is? Does he think she's terminally ill? Seeing what a spineless idiot he is, we can probably guess how she became such a brat before OP met her. She was likely spoiled rotten whenever she had a boo boo because the dad is too weak and lazy to actually parent her.

Tattoo story: tattoos are very personal, to my way of thinking. I'm later 40s. I got my first tattoo last year, and it is in remembrance of my dad. My husband got a tattoo to symbolize everyone important in his life, and he really loves it, but I'm not as fond of the item that represents me. But it isn't on my body. He likes it, and I have moved on.

My stepdad died on my niece’s 10th birthday. That day was terrible and her birthday obviously was not celebrated, however, we made up for it the following year and since then, no one mentions my stepdad on that day. We all mourn out of her sight, when we have the opportunity.

Yta. Why does your oldest have to fund your second child. If the 2nd doesn't want to go to college, fine. It isnt for everyone. But she still needs to pay her own way. Even if that way is to a trailer park. She was handed over 20k and blew it. She could have bought a small house, but didn't. Time for her to grow up. Lmao ask her to get a part time job. No, she needs to get a full-time job.

    3. NTI. This child is being taught to behave badly for a normal human function. No one needs to learn to navigate her bodily functions except her. She wants to act like that and her dad wants to support it, they can get the heck out.

S2 no. I wouldnt help a sibling who doesnt work. The op is CLEARLY favoring the golden child to the point she's willing to burn the other child to keep it going. Its not selfish, its insane
As for the period story... maybe the father simply has no idea what he's supposed to be doing? Because that's what it sounds like to me, he doesn't know what to do and has taken the 'just do it to keep the peace' response

You have new family and your friends. Go no contact with the awful people who regret your being born. Sister either had a loss some time ago and waited to announce it then or was insane enough to go to a party moments after her loss. Either way there was no need for her to be there or announce there. She wants attention.

3rd story. NTA periods do NOT give anyone child or otherwise a free pass, to be abusive, or entitled or the right to dictate to others to cater their days around her period. I had nasty periods growing up and as an adult. I never treated others like this. She needs to get over herself. and people need to stop enabling her unacceptable behavior!!! You dodged a bullet OP. The BF is enabling awful behavior and it's only get worse.

    1st story:
OP should invite everyone for a big announcement and say that she is pregnant
As soon as sister "remembers another one of her recent tragedies" she should just tell them it was a prank and she wanted to see if sister will ruin yet another of her milestones
    Then just go no contact
Years later she should contact them on a random day and tell them the good news: she is with child
As soon as the sister starts with her newest grievance, she can tell them oh what good luck because I got married X years ago on (date) and my child was born on (date from months ago). So fortunately my happy news do not overlap with your sad news - I already thought my happiness was causing your problems
After this back to no contact
