It really sucks feeling trapped/isolated I'm sure.. PLUS not being able to open a window for fresh air. I feel like after the peaceful period of having alone time ended, I would eventually have a panic attack from heightened anxiety.

I was in the very first day of Australia’s government mandated quarantine and it happened so suddenly that half the plane had no idea that’s what was happening when we landed in Sydney. It was super similar except by day 5 or so we were allowed to order Uber eats. We could also order booze if we wanted. There were these gluten free chocolate muffins I was hoarding because they were amazing I still think about them. Because they still hadn’t figured out all the logistics, I ended up doing 17 days due to processing to release me
I was hesitant about watching part II, just because how difficult the quarantine to start with took its toll on you in part I, but i'm glad i did. You handled it like a trooper and i'm sure everyone watching is proud of you, and your sister for getting through it. Pineapple on pizza is a no no though ;)
actually, per the Korean consulate website, the 2 week quarantine is still mandatory for most visitors, unless you fall under certain extremely limited exceptions (i.e. vaccinations done in Korea --> monitoring in lieu of quarantine).
That squeezy jam packet is how tomato sauce has been sold and served with your traditional Aussie meat pie since I was a kid. Also popular for tartare and BBQ sauce, and excellent for fish and chips at the beach. I never realised they were an Aussie thing before. Nor did I consider having them filled with jam!
I found this so interesting to see what a government quarantine facility is like in a different country, you made it look okay and not so depressing as I thought it would be. I’m in Australia and been in lockdown since July 2021, I’m lucky I can still work mon-fri from home so that’s a bit of a routine still but I totally get the feeling of not being motivated to do anything and I’m also sooo tired all the time. I’m looking forward to seeing your sister’s journey :) x
honestly what scared me the most is that after you'd described these days I realised that its basically how my life is every day and idk how to feel about it. thank you for finally opening my eyes
This seems like heaven, send me anywhere (with the exception of prison) and stick me in a room unbothered with 3 meals a day being delivered. The ⛈ is the cherry on top.
A note for anyone else stuck in similar conditions, you can use the kettle to heat water and then mix it with cold water to a suitable temperature; use this as a warm/hot water bath to reheat (very slowly) food you have on hand 👍
Honestly didn't think I would watch the whole thing without getting bored, but here we are. Nothing interesting even happend but somehow it was so entertaining that 50 min just passed. Well done!
I quaratine in Auckland, New Zealand. It was actually pretty good. On arrival you got a menu sheet and you had to choose each meal out of options. So each meal came with a fruit or a pastry. You could choose the veggie option or the meat one. So some days it was waffle or overnight oats. I really enjoyed the food
The stuff you said about how it felt really hit home, it was like getting most of my life described to me and smth i still struggle with. Things have gotten better and changed tho, but i feel no progress or like i'm getting anywhere, so mostly i do nothing. On a more positive note you seem like an amazing sibling, and i really hope everything went well for your sister and that she'll be happy
i have ear-crackling sometimes, of all sorts (i win nothing but the Shittiest Ears Award). if it's like static, so always there and almost like a rustle, it's a form of tinitus -- you're stressed : ) if it's more like sometimes, when you move your head or so, it's water -- you might want to get your earwax removed before it becomes an infection. if it's when you speak loudly or there's noise, it might be a fissure in your eardrum, maybe definitely seek a medical professional lol
How do I have all of these lol I have the static one (been to the doctor with that one multiple times), sometimes i get the high pitched sound for a few mins, and with loud music and talking I get the static one but _intensely_
i come back to these two videos a lot for some reason 😭 watching your character arc over the two weeks is very like entertaining. i could just use this video as background noise but also watch every minute of it.
I love a comprehensive Ellbat video --- so sorry for the quarantine experience, but so admire the reason. You're a great sister and a good advocate. I don't understand why you didn't order some noise-canceling headphones .... the violin and the announcements would make me crazy. I also think I'd try to devise "cooking challenges" like making ramen and adding the eggs (and veg and/or meat)to the hot ramen and washing out a ramen pot with soap and water to use as a teacup (since they give you tea sachets and no cups).... especially since so much of the day revolves around food when you're quarantined.
Because I am truly stupid and thought that total isolation = silence. That was the case for my sister, but I got the one violin player in that facility lmao. Also, we didn’t know about the announcements ahead of time 😩 In terms of cooking, you can’t get access to eggs or veg or meat unless it came with a meal 😭 but the ramen as a tea cup is HUGE brain behaviour !!!! I should’ve thought of that!!! 💙
Well done for getting through it. Being in lockdown (when the U.K. was) also affected my sleep and mood. But you do also notice the little joys that you were previously too busy to notice. I liked the cat eye mask look btw. 😘
Not an ear doctor but my ears will crackle when there's fluid in them. Especially too after pressure changes such as an airplane cabin. Thanks for sharing your endeavors with us! So cool you could do that for you sis!
I’m a software developer who works from home, I sometimes don’t leave the house for weeks (I live with my parents though). I honestly wonder if I’d have such a hard time in that facility, I’d just work.
If you ever again only have a kettle to warm something up, and you have tupperwares like that you could make a big kettle of hot water and pour it in a sink to make some kind of double boiler to try and have a warm meal, the tupperwares should be heat-resistant enough for it to work :)
I watch youtube videos since they are less of a commitment than watching a movie or a series. Sometimes the videos are longer than series episodes, yet here I am
"Hope give you an idea to what it like to be in social isolation for 2 weeks"...I've had a lot lot longer than 2 weeks but hopefully this does educate people who are fortunate enough to have freinds/family around them.
When I had to quarantine I was placed in a little 2 bedroom apartment. I think I would have gone crazy being alone in a room. I was in "my" apartment with other family members for a whole month. It didn't really feel like it was that bad honestly felt like a little vacation. We had meals delivered and cooked for ourselves. Plus we had the care team checking on us everyday. It was a nice being in quarantine, in my brain it wasn't quarantine it was a month long staycation
You nailed describing how isolation de motivates and decondtions you. I had 5 years stuck in upstairs bedroom only time out was to hospital. I now have wheelchair accessible house but still find myself for long times alone in bedroom as pain so bad. I am sure no one lives near me as you see no one nor hear anyone going about... Unlike your violin neighbour that would drive me nuts lol. Meals are something you eat because you have to and insomnia a living nightmare. Lockdowns and Quarrantine for folks a nightmare but gave an insight into what us folks with chronic ill health have to live with sometimes for just a few weeks other times for months or years. You learn to like your own company. Looking forward to watching next uploads :)
I didn't have a fear of thunder until February of 2020, long story short I was sleeping in a moving (not driving) vehicle when the vehicle was in a mass accident during a snowstorm in Wyoming, people would just keep coming and smash into the pile up
I'm currently quarantined for having covid, at home & I'm jealous of your meals! LOL I've had Ramen but that's because my husband and my daughter also have covid too! So we've either had fast food delivery, Ramen or simple things like sandwich & cans of soup. That's when we've felt like eating though. The first week I dropped almost 10 pounds. It was needed but I'd rather not lose it that way lol. I can't wait to watch the videos on your sisters surgery transformation. ❤
I'm in a bit of a depression slump today so perfect time for a long form Ellbat to pop into my recommendations. I'm a generally antisocial person but quarantine is something else. Knowing that you CAN'T go out or see someone else instead of choosing it is rough. Went through it recently with covid and really wish that there was someone delivering meals for me because I ended up eating so much crap and realised just how much I hate about my living space. Been working on fixing those things since I've been free again.
Okay wait i have questions Do they go through your baggage to make sure you’re not bringing alcohol? Also how tf do you stay in quarantine for 2 weeks without some drinks? Also, do smokers just have to suffer?
Wow. I have the attention span of a squirrel that's high on xtc, but this 50 min video went by like it was nothing, didn't lose attention once. Well done!
I have had to stop looking at houses I can't afford mainly because that includes ALL houses and I get depressed. Would you recommend any resources that explain being trans to children? I want to bring up a well informed and empathetic daughter who actually shares your name only we pronounce it the European way. Love to both you and Leah
The New Zealand ones are amazing- they put you in 4/5 star hotels you can get Uber eats whenever, they take you for walks, you get pretty decent food and some places have outdoor space you can go to anytime day or night :) however if you’re only going for a holiday you have to pay to use them- they’re only free if moving back!
The static sound in your ear could be tinnitus! I also have it, but mine is ringing in both ears. Unluckily, it might be permanent, but you get used to it after a while
I completely understand! I have CFS too (I’m grateful it isn’t so severe these days) and honestly it can be so isolating at times, sending u all my love ❤️❤️❤️
so I'm guessing you are an Extrovert then... because to me as an introvert, two weeks isolated and alone (given food, coffee, and internets) would be a Very Good Start.
I have a couple questions… Is no alcohol a South Korea thing or so they don’t have people get drunk and overthrow the hotel? This situation screams for several boxes of wine. 🍷🤣 Could you and your sister have requested adjoining rooms? I agree with your choice of separate rooms … 14 days with ANYONE sounds hellish but a pop in and out would be nice. When you finally received your adapter, you mentioned they search your orders for alcohol, food, etc. My first thought (after wine) was I’d immediately have ordered some instant espresso and some snacks! 😜 We ordering any food against the rules? Thanks for sharing your experience! 😄
well, thank god that's over

I feel like I’m super weird cos I’m dying for a 14 day quarantine! Just to chill and eat and sleep. I need a break! 😂
I was hesitant about watching part II, just because how difficult the quarantine to start with took its toll on you in part I, but i'm glad i did. You handled it like a trooper and i'm sure everyone watching is proud of you, and your sister for getting through it. Pineapple on pizza is a no no though ;)
This is so sweet, thank u ❤️ (that’s fair and valid)
The quarantine rule juist changed, you don't need to isolate anymore if you're vaccinated
Me and my fully vaxxed ass looking at South Korea now 👀👀👀👀
actually, per the Korean consulate website, the 2 week quarantine is still mandatory for most visitors, unless you fall under certain extremely limited exceptions (i.e. vaccinations done in Korea --> monitoring in lieu of quarantine).
When the wait for this part was longer than the actual quarantine
😭😭😭
You guys down under must be on lockdown number 7 now.
@@taoist32 sure feels like it! We were going good for about a year and then Delta hit but it’s slowly getting better now
honestly what scared me the most is that after you'd described these days I realised that its basically how my life is every day and idk how to feel about it. thank you for finally opening my eyes
"Imagine the violonist isn't real... hhh"
Okay that made me crack up and laugh cx
is this how indoor cats feel like everyday? 😭
I love watching for houses too!
omg im so glad its not just me hahahaha
Me too
It reminded me I haven’t looked lately, I just did and now feel depressed. 😅
Honestly didn't think I would watch the whole thing without getting bored, but here we are. Nothing interesting even happend but somehow it was so entertaining that 50 min just passed. Well done!
I read the one text as "It *was* a two way mirror" at first and i was like "WHY IS SHE SO NONCHALANT ABOUT IT?!?
I quaratine in Auckland, New Zealand. It was actually pretty good. On arrival you got a menu sheet and you had to choose each meal out of options. So each meal came with a fruit or a pastry. You could choose the veggie option or the meat one. So some days it was waffle or overnight oats. I really enjoyed the food
Currently quarantining in Japan and I just want you to know these vlogs are getting me through it! Haha
Your sister's curly red hair is so cute! 😄
Sending good vibes her way and your way!!
Man looking back on things, I can't believe I did quarantine for 9 weeks
I sometimes, on very very rare occations have it for a few hours or a day when i chew. It's sooo weird and uncomfortable lol
How do I have all of these lol
I have the static one (been to the doctor with that one multiple times), sometimes i get the high pitched sound for a few mins, and with loud music and talking I get the static one but _intensely_
Adding: If it crackles when you swallow, it might be a build-up of earwax. Get it removed by a professional. Do not stick a q-tip into your ear canal.
I have the static problem...yes I believe Im stressed...
i come back to these two videos a lot for some reason 😭
watching your character arc over the two weeks is very like entertaining. i could just use this video as background noise but also watch every minute of it.
Also, we didn’t know about the announcements ahead of time 😩
In terms of cooking, you can’t get access to eggs or veg or meat unless it came with a meal 😭 but the ramen as a tea cup is HUGE brain behaviour !!!! I should’ve thought of that!!! 💙
If you can ask for a toothbrush can't you ask for a styrofoam cup?
My patience has been rewarded!!
thank u for waiting so long !!!!!
@@Ellbat how could I not? I’ve been looking forward to it since part 1! :)
Well done for getting through it. Being in lockdown (when the U.K. was) also affected my sleep and mood. But you do also notice the little joys that you were previously too busy to notice. I liked the cat eye mask look btw. 😘
Oh for sure!! Aw thanks ❤️
Your phone voice vs normal voice is SO different 😂
Not an ear doctor but my ears will crackle when there's fluid in them. Especially too after pressure changes such as an airplane cabin. Thanks for sharing your endeavors with us! So cool you could do that for you sis!
Quarantine would be okay for those of us who enjoy reading. Could make a dent in your TBR List.
My god, I would be so constipated eating that quarantine food
I watch youtube videos since they are less of a commitment than watching a movie or a series. Sometimes the videos are longer than series episodes, yet here I am
Felt this so hard lol
"Hope give you an idea to what it like to be in social isolation for 2 weeks"...I've had a lot lot longer than 2 weeks but hopefully this does educate people who are fortunate enough to have freinds/family around them.
I’m sorry to hear :( I’m sending you so much love and good vibes
When I had to quarantine I was placed in a little 2 bedroom apartment. I think I would have gone crazy being alone in a room. I was in "my" apartment with other family members for a whole month. It didn't really feel like it was that bad honestly felt like a little vacation. We had meals delivered and cooked for ourselves. Plus we had the care team checking on us everyday. It was a nice being in quarantine, in my brain it wasn't quarantine it was a month long staycation
I’m very much enjoying the madness entering and leaving the video at times 😂😂😂❤️
you inspired me to have a shower. might seem weird to thank you for that but thank you.
Okay wait i have questions
Do they go through your baggage to make sure you’re not bringing alcohol? Also how tf do you stay in quarantine for 2 weeks without some drinks?
Also, do smokers just have to suffer?
Wow. I have the attention span of a squirrel that's high on xtc, but this 50 min video went by like it was nothing, didn't lose attention once. Well done!
I have had to stop looking at houses I can't afford mainly because that includes ALL houses and I get depressed.
Would you recommend any resources that explain being trans to children? I want to bring up a well informed and empathetic daughter who actually shares your name only we pronounce it the European way.
Love to both you and Leah
I've been waiting for this!! I can't wait for the videos coming out in October
How much did they charge for quarantine in NZ?
@@michaelkores6860 *_"ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS!!"_*
The static sound in your ear could be tinnitus! I also have it, but mine is ringing in both ears. Unluckily, it might be permanent, but you get used to it after a while
There's no breaking you Ellbat.... 😇
That jam is how tomato sauce works in Australia haha
Last time I was this early I was being born
I was late for my birth, can't relate
I have bad M.E./ CFS and I’m often trapped in my flat, sometimes just in one room for weeks.
I completely understand! I have CFS too (I’m grateful it isn’t so severe these days) and honestly it can be so isolating at times, sending u all my love ❤️❤️❤️
Being stuck in a room and having to phone someone for supplies.. I’d be without supplies 🙃
I get really stressed and anxious calling people, and so it really helped that they were just the nicest people 😭 it made it so much less scary ahahah
so I'm guessing you are an Extrovert then... because to me as an introvert, two weeks isolated and alone (given food, coffee, and internets) would be a Very Good Start.
That ramen is black bean ramen called jjajjangmyeon its usually a thick black bean sauce that you kind of stir/whip into the noodles
_Mmmmmmm..._
your "speaking on the phone voice" is SO CUTE omg
NOW IM SELF CONSCIOUS 😭
I have a couple questions…
Is no alcohol a South Korea thing or so they don’t have people get drunk and overthrow the hotel? This situation screams for several boxes of wine. 🍷🤣
Could you and your sister have requested adjoining rooms? I agree with your choice of separate rooms … 14 days with ANYONE sounds hellish but a pop in and out would be nice.
When you finally received your adapter, you mentioned they search your orders for alcohol, food, etc. My first thought (after wine) was I’d immediately have ordered some instant espresso and some snacks! 😜 We ordering any food against the rules?
Thanks for sharing your experience! 😄
Kinda wishing I lived somewhere that prepared all of my meals for me now, tbh.
Thank god she's back...i thought she had been captured by the north
