To anyone watching this in 2021, steer clear of the Icon UCAs. I just rebuilt the front end of my truck after 50k miles with coil overs and the Icon Delta joints. It'll cost you $300 for new delta joints, $65 for new bushings, and another $50 for a specialty ball joint press adapter to drive out the old delta joints; those are just the retail prices, and doesn't factor in tax + shipping. Basically, you're looking at $450-$500 to rebuild your Icon UCAs when the ball joint goes bad (and it will). Just a word of caution that you never see in these videos.
@mosasa1307 I put another set of new Delta Joint UCAs on the truck. I traded my F150 in on a new RAM diesel a few months ago though. They were working fine. I think the point is, if you're going Delta joints is going to cost a lot. If you're fine with that, then cool.
Check out the Rancho UCA's! I'm installing mine today. $319 for the pair, and they appear to be exactly what I wanted. They're basically a ready to bolt on tubular arm. just put the grease zerks on the ball joints and install. Of course they're not going to compete with the special balljoints, but I didn't want anything that wild. Im a storm chaser, so my primary concern is on road manners with the ability to hit shit when needed. Also Texas roads have a tendency to randomly buckle and make insta-ramps... Instructions are also the best I've seen.
@@adamconnell5965 How are those Rancharo UCA's holding up, are happy with them or wish you got something else ? I'm putting Bilstein 6112 lift shocks on my 2020 F-150 (which from what I hear I have to change the UCA's) and like you I'll be able to hit some shitty roads when necessary
Excellent description of upper control arms. I just ordered BDS UCAs for my 21 XLT with a Fox 2.0 leveling kit. I am using stock wheels with Wildpeak A/3W tires. The tires are 11.9 inches wide, given the 6.5 backspace of the factory rims, will the tires rub? I do have a quarter inch spacer.
I have the pro comp’s on my 2013 F150 and they are squeaking like crazy at 30,000 miles and I have kept them clean their entire life. If I could do it again I would have paid more for the Icon Delta Joint UCA’s. I’ll be buying them now to replace these pro comp’s.
Pro Comp suspension components are a great option at a lower price, but this is a get what you pay for scenario and the Icon's while more expensive are well worth it.
Im here because 06 f150 with level struts 2.5 rough country’s. PIA to maintain suspension. Always out of alignment and parts wearing. Just replaced everything and rough country was good to cover their shocks under warranty for making noise after 40k. They are not bad shocks and good company warranty. And the shocks were still working after removing. New ones do feel better though. Anyway! UCA for Ford F-150 wtf!! Is there a decent one ?? Iv had precision form O’Reillys with greasable joint. Thought they were decent. When replacement one was totally shot other still ok. Installed new ones under warranty and filling the boot with grease the boot popped out of place and cannot put it back. It’s screwed now !!! Have to do another job on it and alignment! Any good ones out there that don’t cost you a arm and leg ?
Narrowing my choices down. I've got it down to the guild to the delta joint and the BDS. Seems like the BDS is more durable and sturdy an having availability of the Moog ball joints is a plus. It's also less expensive. My only question is - does the Delta joint have greater articulation range?
What method wheels did you have on that older red f150? I like that it doesn’t have the large middle cap hanging out. Just bought some Bilstein 5100s from y’all. Keep up the great work!
I have a 2013 F150 FX4 that currently has a 2.5" strut spacer but will be replacing them with Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0. I'm running 295/70r18 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on factory 2018 18" wheels. Would any tubular UCAs clear? I have about 1/4-1/2" of clearance between the sidewall and stock UCA currently.
I have a 2.5 leveling kit with 33s and the UCA is rubbing on the coil spring. I don't offroad and I don't put my truck through a lot. Would I be fine replacing the UCA with an OEM one?
no. replace it with a aftermarket UCA. you’ll be doing yourself a favor in the long run. aftermarket UCA’s also provide more clearance for the coil springs, unlike the OEM UCA’s. do you have a 2WD or a 4WD?
Most all aftermarket UCAs will give you more room to clear your coilover assembly, you just need to research what type of joint you need and what fits your budget. Also be aware of the wheel backspacing requirements
This is a question we would best be able to help you with over the phone so we can call the manufacturers and relay the info to you based on all of your trucks specs. We have not yet ventured into lowering trucks with aftermarket UCAs, so we would have to do some research for you. 623-434-5277
I just had my Icon Delta joint UCA installed on my 07 F-150 with just a spacer lift. But I hear a “knock” sound every so often when I turn the wheel on a sharp turn; then it “knocks” again on the way back as the wheels go straight forward. Any ideas what it may be ? Thanks
I have light usage on my ICON UCA's, they're a little rusty and it's causing a loose wheel control/drive. Do I just tighten the uniball or do I gotta replace the entire uniball?
if the ball is rattling in the socket (easy to tell just wiggle the tire) then replace the joint. if the bolt is wiggling in the ball (wiggle the tire) tighten the bolt.
I want to run a 275/65R20 on a factory 20 wheel (2018 STX 4x4). The factory wheel is only 8.5 inches wide. I know a 275/65R20 will fit on this wheel. Can I keep this wheel and tire combo from sticking out past the fender with an after market upper control arm?

We'd recommend these Icon Tubular UCA's for your truck, they should last you as long as you have the truck. www.stage3motorsports.com/98500-2009-2014-F150-ICON-Tubular-Uniball-Upper-Control-Arms.html
Since my leveling kit was installed, I keep getting bump steer. To remedy, I have so far installed rear bilstein dual stage shocks, rear sway bar and about to spend more money on front coil over shocks adjustable. My question is, will it eliminate my issue. It is outright dangerous and crazy unpredictable. While turning and hitting a bump I never know where I'll end up. What is your suggestion?
Have your shop double check that everything was installed correctly, and also check your alignment. That is where I would start looking to fix your issue

How would you run a 33/12 or 35 on a stock wheel? Wheel spacer? If so how much would be enough to clear the arm?
Do you have anything that will fit a 2004 Expedition? The stock arms do not last long with the lift and tires I currently have.

That is expensive

Paul Maeda Possible sway bar links binding
4x4? Cv half shaft p
If you hear a knocking or tapping noise when you're making a sharp turn it could be an axle shaft
Its because of the spacer.
