- Capture the magic of summer with my delicious shortbread cookies infused with orange and topped with pressed flowers. I'm beyond excited to start sharing recipes from my book! These cookies are in the summer chapter of the book and are a celebration of the season that just so happens to taste delicious! Pressing flowers is a fun and easy project that little ones love to help with. You can use them the same day or save them for a cold gloomy day when you want to taste the warmth of summer.

I made these tonight and they are delicious! My batch was made without the presed flowers, which is ok. They are tender, buttery, and full of delicious orange flavor, yet not too sweet.

John, these are gorgeous!!! I absolutely love using edible flowers in dishes. Never has there been a prettier green salad than one with a little fresh fruit, some roasted nuts, and beautiful little flowers.
I received your book as a Christmas gift from my mum and I was so happy! It is essentially a functional decorative piece in my kitchen!😂❤ I usually pull up a pretty picture in it (so many!) and leave it on display when I'm not baking
The icing glaze is like hodgepodge for sugar cookies. I love, love, love the smell of citrus zest.

Short bread is the first ever thing I've ever baked, and the first I've ever burnt in the oven-
Lol. For me, it was coconut macaroons. Almost set my kitchen on fire. Happy baking to us. 😁

The first thing my grandma taught me to bake was Christmas shaped sugar cookies with Christmas color dyed frosting and sprinkles. I help her make them every winter. I also learned how to make spritz cookies when I was pretty young, and I actually find that they taste better with unsweetened almond milk than almond extract. Over the years I've also baked different kinds of shortbread, but I started watching Preppy Kitchen eight months ago so John Connell's millionaire shortbread recipe is still fairly new to me but I have made it once and it was incredible, mine turned out almost as good as his.

Ooooh I have some asiatic dayflowers growing all over the place, the purple and yellow flowers are like tiny iris' that are edible and so so pretty!!! I can use those flowers for these cookies! I just realized I wasn't subscribed and just watching for a few weeks. After you say the actual grams of 2 cups of flour per the bag, you got my subscribe! It's my pet peeve when bakers put the grams way over what the bag says it weighs. Then the goodies never turn out!

These shortbreads are gorgeous, but edible flowers are expensive here. If I make these I think, instead of glazing and decorating with flowers, I'll dip them in melted dark chocolate. It's best friends with orange after all.

These look so good. I love all of your cookie recipes ! If you want to try a different one, try Indian cookie called "nankhatai". It's melt in mouth delicious with amazing taste. It's made of ghee, sugar, flour (1:1:2) and some gram flour (optional ) with hint of cardamom powder and finely sliced pistachios or almonds.

It might be cool to add some green frosting as grass, and a different color to create stems to each flower.
These are soooooo beautiful!And orange sugar? I'm in heaven. Question that just occurred to me: can, and how, do I make the orange sugar without a food processor? That's just not in the budget right now.
They look absolutely lovely!! Can someone please clarify whether the recipe calls for 1/3 cup cornstarch OR 1/4 cup? I've noticed a discrepancy between what John says, and what is printed on the video screen.
