Doing this scuttle panel removal also helps when changing the SCV (Suction Control Valve ) as gives you plenty of room to get down the back of the rear left of the engine to the injector pump,I changed mine in less than an hour this way .Before you take the wipers off just get a felt tip pen and make a dot on the windscreen at the end of the wiper or stick a bit of sticky tape on the screen ,then you can get them back in the same place. On my Mercedes sprinter they actually have a small black line set in the screen permanently from the factory to position your wipers if you take then off (Clever idea)
Good job there chum, well thought out and executed, l would get the head mount for GoPro etc to free hands for other jobs, makes huge difference and you can check view via app on tablet device etc
Its worth removing the whole valve and cleaning it. I've owned 4 x trails since 2003. I remove the valve in total and cleaned it with oven cleaner. It's so easy it can be done in conjunction with a fuel filter change, as it's easier to remove the filter with the scuttle panel removed.
I only took the solenoid motor part off and found everything looking quite clean. After replacing everything, the car idles for a bit, and then just dies. It was fine before. Don't know what I've done wrong 😢
