I have a 2007 x-trail dCi which occasionally goes into crawler mode - revs won't go above 2000 - switching engine off and on fixes it. I have been studying your excellent video and by-passed the solenoid as you suggest and can see the waste gate working and have a question: with the solenoid connected should the waste gate operate at low idling revs? Grateful for any suggestions.
@@diydaly many thanks for replying, I have just conformed the waste gate operates immediately as soon as the engine starts (rev around 750). Trying to solve the crawler problem I invested in a fault code reader (the garage always reported no faults found when trying to analyse the problem) and while riding as a passenger with my phone connected to the reader I found fault 340 (cam position sensor ) as soon as it started crawling and as soon as I cleared the fault the car leapt back into life. I have now replaced the sensor and "so far" the fault has not reoccurred, but its still early days. when I replaced the sensor and to improve access I disconnected the tubes to the solenoid. I was surprised to hear air being sucked into one of the tubes - the car had been parked overnight. Wondering if given the behaviour of the solenoid its worth replacing it.
Hi Bud thanks for the video, using this I found I have an electrical fault on the left-hand pin (No Voltage) so not sure what to do next as I can't see any obvious wire brake. The only fault showing is a P0488 Exhaust Gas Fault.
Next step would be to get a wiring diagram and chase where that feed comes from , check for 12v there and continuity between the 2 , Strange as that fault code won’t usually cause that issue
Brilliant diagnostic skills 👏 Wish I had the ability to do stuff like that instead of bolting and unbolting/replacing parts! P.s hope my solenoid doesn't go on my xtrail, they're fairly expensive!

Same problem as this but at 4000 revs it dies. No engine codes and have to wait to restart.revs intermittent then dies. Used Wynns egr spray but no effect.
Ive had a pannic attack today till i see your video..i was driving and went limp mode started again drove ok then min later went limp again she idles high at 1.5 thousand revs and revs slow most way up but when tried drive wont go over 3 thousand rev...can u help me ...this vid seems alot like my issues..
Hi did the same as your vido on the waist gate solinode and did a dpf flush still the same sept when cold idles grand for a while and then same again idles at 1.5 reves but will rev all way up but very slow..is it an air leek or filter change do ya think..i havnt a smoke tool like your self is there and other way..tnx for your inputs
My car losses power sometimes at speeds I have to left my foot from the accelerator and start building the speed again do you think the boost valve or air leaks some where please advise I have the engine light coming on with code p2263 turbo boost Regard
Yeah there’s a good chance it’s down to a air leak or the turbo waste gate sticking .. you will need to check first.. if everything else is ok you may have an issue with the turbo

There is a lot im faults that could cause the symptom , if you are really unsure you’ll need to take to a garage for an initial diagnosis .. before anything I’d check everything I show in the video then check for any air leaks
Should start boosting well around 2250-2500 . It should have a little go up to that point , if it’s a flat as a pancake then boosts all of a sudden you have an issue mate 👍

Not when idling but slight revs under load would make it operate

My nissan 2006 loses power and stop on hills most of the time as i finish a hill or on bumps (but all on the hills)

I have a 2005 XTrail that is lifeless while revving and suddenly boosts at about 2500 and at times 3000rpm. What could be the issue?
Could be air flow meter or egr valve .. various things will cause the issue but it’s hard to say without looking

Sounds like an air leak on the intake side,, split pipe
@diydaly ok I will check, do you know the air intake manifold there a flaps are they suppose to open or closed when you take it off?

have you checked the vacuum reading, maybe a small leak in the system & its not up to full pressure , should be around 25-30

Hmm, I think the earlier ones still have a similar setup just located differently. Can you see the turbo waste gate and chase the pipe back?
