    The city of Boston will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was my first home after 20 years in the military and I got my CS degree there.The prices are crazy, the traffic is horrendous but in my opinion there isn’t a better city than Boston!

    I was able to get a reduced price Charlie card (Boston T-pass) because of a bone surgery I had as a child. I just filled out a form and had proof from my doctor and went to the Charlie card store and it saved a TON of money. If you’ve had any surgeries that may indicate the need to use the T more instead of walking try to look into that.

    Hello! I've been looking into moving to Boston after graduation but I'm worried about finding a job to pay for the cost of living. I've mostly heard IT jobs are in demand, are there any other types of jobs that are easy to get hired for? Also, does the pay scale for jobs in Boston (outside of tech) match the expensive cost of living?

  • @FlyinTonite
    @FlyinTonite 3 года назад +7

    If you do Boston with roommates you can easily get away with sub 1000 for rent and utilities. I pay 750 a month plus utilities for a pretty good spot in Malden near the Orange line. By yourself I'll agree it's expensive. My friend pays 1200 for a studio in Waltham that's a glorified closet. Just depends on what you're looking for but affordable Boston living is very doable.

    I've lived in Boston for 15 years, I watch a lot of these videos and the prices are always higher in actuality than people report. I live with my significant other and we have a very high household income (~$400k-$500k but we're not rich by Boston standards), and things are expensive enough that we feel it. When we go out of state to visit family members, we feel rich, whereas it costs the two of us $200+ for a dinner, we can take her or my whole family out for that much.

    Video critique: I had the video on 2x playback speed and your speech was still slow, so I am going to assume it’s incredibly slow at normal speeds.

    Hi new Filipino in Boston here! Can I ask in what neighborhood do you live in. Im so stressed looking for a place to stay that is within my budget , Can I know where did you see the 1500 1600 ish studio that would be helpful ❤

    • @HadelLynnLeyco
      @HadelLynnLeyco  Год назад +1

      More than likely for that budget you either need to get a roommate, look further out than the main part of Boston, or spend extra money on a brokers fee where a broker could find you something in that budget which usually costs at least a month of your rent. I'm releasing a video soon on how to find an apartment in Boston so stay tuned for that!

    I am disabled so the state of Massachusetts gives me foodstamps and a T card and 900$ a month and my apartment rent is according to my incom so my rent is really cheap if you are homeless or poor you can apply for houseing and the state will get you an apartment subsidized houseing meaning the project's and the rent is cheap if your homeless and you know whare to go you can eat six meals a day here they take care of the homeless really well here which is a downside because they know they can get houseing easily so alot of homeless people come here

    • @HadelLynnLeyco
      @HadelLynnLeyco  3 года назад

      @@missynataliasaputra the good thing about Boston is that there is also the commuter rail for those who are further out. There's areas such as JP, East Boston, Brighton/Allstob Medford that are at the end/near the end of the T but have lower rents and more car friendly. I would for sure do your research on where specifically you are working because which T line you take can vary

    is it okay if we do not use broker service? I mean would there be any scam if we search apartment ourselfs?

    • @HadelLynnLeyco
      @HadelLynnLeyco  3 года назад +2

      When searching apartments, I suggest to make sure to call in advance to see if there is a broker fee. There are times when landlords may cover an entire broker fee cost or partial. If you look at large apartment complexes that are associated with big companies there's a good chance they may not have broker fees.

      @@HadelLynnLeyco i see. I once searched for apartments and on the caption says "No broker fee" does it mean we don't have to pay for that? Oh and do you have any site recommendation regarding apartment search? Damn i feel bad for asking a lot of question. Am subscribing.

    • @HadelLynnLeyco
      @HadelLynnLeyco  3 года назад +2

      @@debukosmik007 for searching I've looked through Zillow, Hotpads and Apartments.com. As for the no broker fee that probably means you don't have to pay a broker fee. You would however more than likely be expected at move in with first month and last month rent along with a deposit.

    • @HadelLynnLeyco

      If depends where you live. If you live in newer areas that have a trash chute, you just chuck it in there. If you live in older areas, there is twice a week trash and recycling takeout where you just leave your bags outside

      It really does depend on your budget but it's typically cheaper to live in Jamaica Plain, Brookline, Allston area because it is more West of the main city.

    • @BostonAreaHomes
      @BostonAreaHomes 3 года назад

      Brighton and Allston, if you are young - that's where many university students live with housemates. Close to the T. If you want to step away from the city limits, there are many more choices but not as fun. :)

If you want bigger and better beaches than City of Boston beaches, that will be 30-45 min drive. You can go South, Quincy, Hull, Wareham or to Cape Cod beaches (Old Silver beach, etc) or North to Marblehead, Salem, Gloucester, Ipswitch (Crane beach)
