I feel you 100% on the affordability issue here in Boston. I am born and raised in the city but can’t afford to buy a home here anymore so I’m looking in southern states now. This was a great video though shining light on the city
I’m Brazilian and I moved into Allston almost 5 years ago, it was in the end of march so beginning of Allston Christmas and I was shocked, I could find anything I needed in the streets, on my first day I found a functioning TV that I used for the next 2 years.
I have to move to Boston to be closer to my family and I'm kind of bummed about it because I'm happy where I'm living now, but this made me feel better.
The T is fine, the odds of encountering danger are like 2/100 yes they need to be maintained better but other than the orange line occasionally catching fire its alright, definitely better than NY and socially safer too your not gonna get bothered on the train or see people use drugs unlike bigger cities
Update: INRIX just released their 2023 Global Traffic Scorecard the day after I uploaded this lol, Boston’s no longer 4th worst! But it’s still 8th 😒 inrix.com/scorecard/
Slow zones are no longer! The T is finally slowly getting better and getting new trains as well..Its actually pretty convenient too...Also, it maybe hot in Boston but id take it over then summers in DC or in the south..and its one of the safest cities in the country..
well.. you don't need to wait in line at the supermarket to buy a turkey on Thanksgiving; simply get one outside your apartment... I consider that an advantage
Can u make a video about your Tagalog proficiency so far? Its been months now and we are really curious about how fluent you are in Tagalog at the moment☺️
I’ve been back in NYC the past year and I can’t wait to go back so bad.. Although, mass has its issues at least it’s more quiet and clean than NYC. Cost is the same and wages too. So idc about that.
im moving from florida to Boston for a new job plus i have some family members who stay there and just for something different any tips for getting used to the weather ?
It's mild weather. The natives just like to complain because they think it makes them look tough. It snows maybe 3-4 times a year in ways that actually accumulate, and it melts within a week. It's generally in the 30s to 40s all winter. The proximity to the ocean keeps it a solid 10F warmer than neighboring states more inland. The few times it actually snows? Your employer will likely cancel work. Even if they don't? The roads are 90% more barren. I go out driving for fun in the itty bitty widdle snowstorms they have because it's the only time you can get to the speed limits lol. As for the cold? Turn up the thermostat. Just like Florida is uncomfortably hot without AC, the northeast is uncomfortably cold without heat. But we have the technology to make it a non issue lol. tl;dr: it's nowhere near as bad as the natives like to brag it is. The cost of living up here is far worse than the weather.
@@ashamane yeah the weather isn't too bad and winters are getting milder but just wear appropriate clothing and you should be fine..and get a winter jacket from an actual outdoor retail company like LL Bean, North Face, and Patagonia
Calling the T one of the best public transit systems in America is like calling Hitler the one of the best Nazis. Both completely factual statements, probably. But the entire category you're declaring it the cream of the crap for is a disaster. It hasn't been updated since it was built and it is falling apart. Even with traffic in car being as nuts-to-butts and atrocious as it is, a 20 minute drive is LITERALLY A 2-HOUR T TRIP. I got so frustrated going to pick my car up from the mechanic that I got off at the JFK stop and called an Uber. It's a shitshow. There's a reason everyone prefers a 2 hour 7mph commute to the T. Getting anywhere in Boston is exasperating; worse during rush hour but rush hour lasts about 4 hours AM and PM. Really the only decent time of day to travel is between 11 and 2, but there will still be very heavy traffic. It will just actually be flowing.
NO WAY, THIS DOES NOT HAVE ONLY 629 VIEWS My jaw literally fell, I was thinking "this video is so high quality, its like a begrudging love letter to Boston, it must have like 1 mil views" Hoping this video gets the attention it deserves 🫶

I will agree the BPL is amazing. It's the city's only redeeming feature. I still keep a BPL library card.
