My Mk7 golf was broken into last week and this is the exact infotainment system they stole, as well as the satnav/cd player in the glove compartment. This vid is really useful as I'm going to start removing my new infotainment myself as I don't want to risk leaving it in my car for it to only be stolen again. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for your comment I’m sorry to hear about you bad news. I’m glad the video has helped you rest assured if someone tried fitting yours into another car it would come up as stolen so they would not gain anything 👍
Had mine stolen last night. VW have kindly said they’ll replace it. For £7k 😮 I mean, that’s ridiculous right. How would i go about buying one. They’re on ebay, guess i could wait a few days and mine will be up there Any advice on getting a new one would be really appreciated Thanks
@spencerweekes8219 you can get a new one they need programming anyone that Try to program yours will come up as stolen through the vin number you will need Odis to code it in
Great video thabks for sharing. My golf 7.5 infotainment screen is dead. Been quoted £3k for new one at main dealer. Im hoping to remove the screen abd send away for testing and hopefully a fix. Great video showing how to remove.
@@pavandeepchadda9360 complained to VW customer service and they agreed to pay half the bill. Took few months to sort with emails back and forth. Ended up costing me £1300 in the end with 2 years warranty from main dealer.
@@l.agarage9217 yeah £165 diagnostic charge to start with to look at it and tell me the screen is dead. The a quote of £3054.00 to replace the unit. Only 2 year warranty aswell was expecting 5 years but never mind.
Thanks, very useful video. I am a about to buy a second hand golf mk 7.5 which has minor delamination problem on touch screen. Unit is fully functioning just cosmetic problem to my eyes as the delamination is small but visible. Can the problem be solved only changing screen part without coding etc?
I bought a used mk7.5 gti, were the power button logo fell off, and there’s only the white light in the background. Is there anyway to just replace the button without having to remove the whole unit?
Excellent video many thanks this is the same issue my son is having with his car stereo in his golf r 7.5 we’ve checked the fuses all ok are there any other fuses to check it would be helpful if you could tell if there are many thanks
Hello Martin thank you for your kind words. These units are prone to failure I’m affraid if you have power and earth and signal to the wires behind then it will most likely be the unit or the mmi unit inside the glove box👍👨🔧
@@l.agarage9217 Thank you for your quick reply to my question ,I’ll check the mmi unit in the glove box to see if there’s an issue there ,does the mmi unit have a separate fuse ,if there’s still a problem a new unit will have to be brought from somewhere ,or a completely new sound system will need to be installed 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@martinwhitley9893 no problem! If the unit is faulty it can be changed on its on will just need coding and programming. If you give me a reg I will search up fuses for you for that vehicle 👍
@@l.agarage9217 Good Evening ,the Reg no is J700EJM if it’s definitely the unit that’s faulty are they easy to get a replacement ,or is there a totally different unit that can replace this one many thanks Martin
I'm having a similar issue. Have changed fuses F10 and F12 but still nothing (fuses were fine). The infotainment system in glove box lights up red as it should do when I press the knob on touchscreen on, but goes off 5 seconds later. Unable to change modes and obviously no radio or display from centre console also lost numerous modes from cockpit that would relate to touchscreen. Is this similar to what happened with you?
I have exactly the same problem. Screen is blank and when I press the system in the glove box get the red light for 5 seconds. How did you fix it? Thanks

Also, are there any security cages compatible with this infotainment unit that you might know of?

Thank you for the comment! I’ve only ever changed them as whole units so I’m not sure but it might be worth a try if you can separate them 👍
