How you finding the car
The button click is a personal preference thing. I personally think it’s gets annoying to have all of the clicks so I keep that one turned off. To each their own though.

There’s some hidden gems in VCDS/OBD11. A big one is Starting Vibration Reduction. Set from Strong to Normal = WAYYYY less wheel spin.

@@JoJoJoker awesome. How does enabling full power delivery limit wheel spin? Edit: My bad, totally ignored the fact that you said to set it from strong to normal, makes sense now.
@@nmk7.5if you slam the throttle from a standstill, what seems to be wheel hop is actually the car cutting power. I've never turned the setting to "off" but in normal mode it just grips and goes!

Hallo I just bought the 7.5 golf highline 1.5. I have a question I found some options that I can change the program of the car I mean there is eco,comfortable normal and sport. In sport mode what things change in the car does anybody know ?

You can get nav instructions in the cluster - get rid of the fuel economy stuff in the center of the big dials and choose "navigation" for those, and voila, your turn-by-turn info shows up there.
Yes but not when the map is in the cluster. Oh nav info in the RPM and speedo, I’ll try that.

I have the same unit in my passat 2020 vehicle. There is a problem of rewinding mp3 tracks in flash memory from typ-c input. For example, it comes up to the 20th track. When you get out of the vehicle and come back after a while, the parts return to the beginning. Can you help with this issue? 3G5035832A-H22-0306 release

does dashboard screen shows Google/Apple maps from AndroidAuto/CarPlay?
On my car it’s the VW Nav map it shows in the dashboard cluster, Apple Maps only shows for me on the main infotainment screen

To connect CarPlay it ask me use usb but it seems like it ask for original usb cable for iPhone. How do you connect CarPlay as it won’t read via Bluetooth :(
You need to ensure the USB A to lightning cable is full data and not just USB power. Some cheaper dollar store cables are charge only. Need a data cable for CarPlay.

No internal storage, you can use SD cards
Could you change the display lighting or was the ambient lighting was only for the digital cockpit only?

you do get the turn signals etc on your left screen. You need to change the options for what you want to see in the gauge cluster or what ever they are called. You can change this through your steering wheel
Exactly what year is the car you're in?? I just got a 2021 GTI Autobahn and I don't have the "Performance Monitor", actually...I only have TMPS, Since Start, Since Refuel, Long Term, and Vehicle Status avaliable? Is there some setting to turn the other menues on?
Also, I still have an analog dash, not a digital dash?
I have a 2018. I heard performance monitor started disappearing in 2019+, I didn’t follow if there was a fix. Check out OBDeleven as a device that might get that working for you.
@@netcruzer I found an Official 2021 VW GTI media release document that states the 2021 Autobahn and SE have the Performance Monitor gauges. I'm assuming this is something that the dealer can activate/deactivate upon delivery in house with their own version of an OBD11. I'm going back to my dealer tomorrow to see.

I get around 800km
For the button tone, you are not supposed to touch the screen when driving as it can distract you from the road.
Radio, initiating nav functions, gong back to App (Navigation/Map screen) after changing the radio or going to phone to call a preset favorite etc etc etc.
its insane they have made cars so complicated. i just got a gti and the complexities in silly infotaintment are dangerous.

Hi mate. Like your insights. Your first insight here is wrong but I think you may know that by now? You need to get in to the car settings to allow it. I’ve just spent an hour trying to figure your hack out! Nice job generally man. 🤙

or the way VW program the car?
I’d say both. You need to keep the stock head unit and if you have a 2016 to 2020 North American VW it should have most of not all of the things I’ve shown.

Hi, in my 7.5 R every time I turn off the car a message saying “Goodbye (previous owner name), do not forget your phone” pops up, I’ve restarted to factory settings different times but that doesn’t go away
You need to find the driver profiles and change the name.
Don't u have menu to change the view? The nav direction will shown in the circle gauge cluster

For the life of me I can't find how to rewind a current song or go back play a song that was played already on the Sat radio, I did it once but can't remember how. Nothing in the manual either. I know it erases once channel is changed.

Siri will use google maps. You just have to ask her.
How do I remove a station from my favourites list ? Can add but can’t work out how to remove ?
Hmm, not sure. I’ve not tried, just oveerwritten them with a long press on a different station. Might take a full reset to clear them out. Also different driver profiles have different station presets.
can you remove the small 10/30/50 km signs on the speedometer so its like some other golfs that show only 20/40/60/80/100 till 280 or 320 in ur case

Can you use apple carplay maps on the digital gauge cluster?
no big man. new q3 I drove will do that, but only text from CarPlay maps can be shown. I didn't try it in the mk8 gti I drove but the infotainment looked similar. I dont think mk7s got this

Is it possible to turn off the radio without turning off the infotainment system (i.e. leave the Navigation display on)? It appears the only way is to either turn the volume down or select Media?
Yeah that’s right. You have to switch source or turn volume down.

So I retrofitted the 2018 golf r infotainment screen in my 2016 R. How can I get my menu to look like yours? Like with the blue accents and stuff? The menu theme looks different vs mine
These documents are only program with one basic theme. If yours doesn't look like his perhaps yours is not a North American head unit? You would have to reprogram it with an OBDeleven or something like that
@@NoZenith I found out that since I have a 2016 Golf R MIB2 head unit, I’d have to upgrade to a 2017 Golf R MIB2 head unit in order to get the new UI skin

not sure if anyone with apple phones realize this, but android auto has a better UI than apple car play. i recently switched from a samsung to iphone due to getting a free apple watch from family. I miss android auto, especially because apple car play in maps, or google maps full screen mode while playing music it doesnt bring a small drop down pop up when changing songs. sadly you need to be on spilt mode to even see songs change.

I wouldn’t consider those “hidden gems” besides making the navigation slightly larger in the cluster lol.
Just have to mess with the settings, so it’s more of a “how to” video.
If you study the book some of this is explained, but most do not do that. Considering the amount of questions I've had over the years of how do I get that clock, or how did you get your infotainment to do 'whatever' I felt these were not obvious enough. Sure maybe not hidden, but not obvious either.
How do you keep the navigation map in dark mode all the time?
It’s an option in the nav settings.

the split screen works with google maps + waze, from what i've tried :)
