Had it since launch, have all achievments and finaly uninstalled forever as its unplayable to but it nicely. 0,5/10 I like games that are fun, not ones that have constant 50gb updates adding much nothing, bugs that keep killing You, items that get removed after updates, who cares You spent hours and hours grinding theme etc. It feels like cheap korean mmo, not a space explorasion game. I rather play Elite dangerous or Entropia universe. Elite on good ol NES is more fun than nms curent version :)
I’m just getting into it, honestly so far it seem like my dream game! Getting lost in space, exploring endlessly and building and upgrading all my things is completely captivating
After your intentionally ooooh ahhhhh reality sinks in. And you will realize how boring the game actually is. Don't take my word for it sink a few hundred hours into it and come back here.
They just came out with an update that massively updates space stations so they're 100x better and added ship customization to the game, among other things. It's significantly better now even when compared to when this video was made lmao
@DorisDay-lw4xs happened to me too. i turned off the vignette effect, remove motion blur completely, turned off head movement, and reduced the field of view. all those helps but didn't alleviate the motion sickness entirely. However, over time, my tolerence increase, and now I can play comfortably for a few hours.
@@TheNtisyadi try dramamine they sell it at most gas stations and pharmacies. It's supposed to be for motion sickness from car sickness or sea sickness.
I love it when developers actively update and improve on their games, especially games that didn't initially turn out the way they wanted. It really shows that they care about the game and the community.
I was there in 2016. I felt that heartbreak. It’s taken the better part of 10 years, and it’s finally the game I wanted it to be, or as close to it as I could realistically expect.
@@TheMightyBurgeryou should especially if you have vr. I've never had a vr game that feels like nms, even if it's still not perfect. Being able to see yourself get in your spaceship and being able to fly off feels insane
I played it earlier today, actually. Not my first time, but I’m relatively new. So you can imagine how things went when the second planet I visited in the tutorial, the planet with the distress beacon where you learn base building, had aggressive sentinel drones over every single hill. I play in vr, so despite the the fact that I was getting destroyed, it was pretty cool
NMS in VR - after playing it for literally years - is the first game to ever make me laugh out loud. Seeing everything in 3D was just mind blowing to me.
@@Roundtablist It honestly terrifies me. Went to some water planet and watched in amazement and disbelief as some worm thing pops out the ocean and over me.
No mans sky is fun when you first start with little to no resource's and small amount of c class upgrades then you upgrade and build your empire and exploration status expands. Highly addictive.
A really nice and chill review. Thanks for being so concise and quiet, it felt really comfortable to watch. I've been playing for like 7 hours and didn't know about a fair few of these systems lol. This game really is massive.
The sheer change in No Man's Sky at release vs now is just mind boggling. I got the game either shortly before or after the Pathfinder update, and while I did still like it back then, it's a monumentally different game now. Just the fact that Hello Games was able to shift NMS from one of the most reviled and hated games in modern gaming history into one of the most popular and beloved sci-fi titles ever is just nothing short of a blessing from the gods.
I'd personally think a metroid-esque approach to the derelict freighters would really make them fun. The spookiness kinda goes away when you learn nothing in there is really that scary or tough. Fighting a big boss at the end would be so worth it.
I played the game at launch, and never before had I played a game that made me feel more alone or bored lmao. Then I played again when they added the first exocrafts, and vibe still felt off. I gave it some time and just started playing again with the Omega update... The game is now insanely addicting, fun, never feels lonely, beautiful... It's my dream space exploration game by taking these awesome space tropes, and not following the cliche or copying it at all. It's so unique and a dream. The fact that there's like 90 different gameplay loops allows for genuinely limitless playability. Also the combat reworks feel really good, the upgrades and especially space combat are something amazing. The combat still isn't perfect but it genuinely feels like a gameplay aspect now. The fact that I can become a space pirate and experience these massive battles, is incredible considering that they're so fun, and barely 1% of the game.
Your comment convinced me to give this game a try. I was soo waiting for starfield, but that game looks really boring, so i decided to skip that game, to see if they fix alot the coming year. So after your comment i decided to try No mans sky. Looks like this game has everything i am looking for in a space expl game.
@@Guilliano_B wow, I'm kinda flattered that you felt my review was that moving lol. I hope you enjoy it the same way I do, the game is amazing, definitely still feels live service, and the devs come out with consistent updates that add some game changing stuff. I was kinda mad at hello games at launch, but now they've definitely proven it's a labor of love...
I would somewhat disagree that every planet feels unique. You realize after a while that each planet type has only a few potential looks. You know roughly what shape of rocks/plants to expect when landing on a radioactive planet, for example. You also know what to expect in terms of points of interest. They are the same on every planet, with the exception of dead planets and uninhabited systems. Don't get me wrong, there is still a large amount of exploring before the planets become repetitive, and even then you can still stumble on something particularly unique.
True, for sure. I mean, the land masses and color schemes and environmental hazards and flora/fauna are kinda mixed and shuffled, but essentially, I'd say before you hit 100 hours, you're not gonna see a whole lot of new stuff that's totally unique. There's still a ton of variety, and they do a decent job of mixing and matching, though. And in spite of some very similar stuff, quite a bit of it is really impressive-looking, especially the first time you really start getting into it and exploring. I say all the time, I've never taken so many screenshots in a single game EVER!! They all make REALLY cool desktop backgrounds.
@@DarthMohammedRules Do you have an incentive to explore like you visit specific planets or moons for specific resources or blueprints or you just keep landing and looking
30 hours still learning is so true. I just recently played NMS, and as Destiny 2 player, I fell in love instantly. Im only 70 hours in, and I'm just building impressive bases, and I've only visited 2 galaxies!. I love anything that has space travel and rare environments. Besides RDR2 and Control, this is one of the best games I've ever played. I've literally just recently learned about exo crafts and underwater exploration. W game for real.
Given the numerous times I go off track and do my own thing that has nothing to do with the game, even in games where it doesn't allow things like that, I think I'll try out this game. Also seeing the reviews going from mostly negative to mostly positive over the years is tempting me, especially with the spring sale on steam going on right now.
That's so awesome to see how far the game's been upgraded since I last played back in 2019/2020. I'd love to see the text become narrated, even AI narration could be a big improvement for some1 like me. Also, please add more cinematic cut scenes, + improve the ground combat
bro i opened the universe map and i was blown away , endless game bro xD i dont have time to explore this ! wish i was in 2020 PANDEMIC! this game is awesome so far. i got into it yesterday at 20:00, when i checked the clock was 01:00 in a fraction of time. its very complex, but i will give it a go, more than Red dead redemption 2
Started playing for the first time today. Fixed my ship and decided to explore the planet a little before leaving. I found a structure and got a quest, I guess? Follow the marker to a ball, pick it up, alert comes up, sprint to my ship, take off, sentinels are shooting at me. First combat experience in the game. I killed two of them, but I didn't know how many waves were coming or if it ever stopped, so I flew into space for the first time and died. now I'm on a space station, I guess.
"so I flew into space for the first time and died" That's basically impossible in NMS even on the hardest settings unless you did something really stupid repeatedly, or ran into a strange bug.
As a note, the latest, massive, complete overhaul update - for free! Always for free! - was the 28th one so far. And it is 'part one' of two. Basically, No Man's Sky has released, for free, it's own sequels multiple times. That IS unheard of.
I'm loving playing this game on PSVR2. Its launch for PSVR2 was rough with really low resolution but they added dynamic foveated rendering and now it is perfectly sharp and one of if not the best looking game on PSVR2. Simply amazing. Looking forward to many more hours in my headset
Now that we have high-end ai, it would be great to see a system where interactive npcs are generated with randomly generated quest according to their generated story, and also something similar to what matrix did, where you can interact with every npc through mics and interact like its real life.
As someone who plays the VR version, it's really cool. I feel like I'm genuinely piloting the ship since I move my hands to use it. I'm not very far in so I've only landed on one planet, but yeah it's insane.
@@dennisphillips9089Tried it and went back, due to long sessions in one go - it’s just not viable that way for me. Great experience for short-bursts however :)
Yeah but when you approach the planet it gets swapped for a completely different one. If they at least tried to make the fake planet in space similar to the one it will load when you get closer, or has that changed in the last 3 years?
I truly truly hope they continue updating this single game and keep it up indefinitely all the way into the next gen of systems to which they can update it even more. I have some problems with the game buuuuuut it's an amazing accomplishment when you realize how vast the universe is and the potential for future updates. Putting on Pandora and flying through space is such a joy.
I remember hearing about this game back around when it came out, but I never got round to playing it. Just bought it deciding I'm gonna check out some new games and seems like I'm joining at about the right time, even after 8 years
I feel like alot of new players are coming tbh I want to make a little post here with a couple money making method for early game. Nothing to crazy op as I don't want spoil the game for you its nice to discover stuff. But heres a couple easy things you can do. 1. Find a planet with ancient bone burial sites. Get a decent speedy pet and go and collect them. They show up with a gold icon similer to salvaged data. While using the scanner some are worth 1.8 mill most are worth 100k to 250k. 2. Collect storm Crystal's potentially . From extreme storm planets. If your goner do this also make sure your buying materials from galatic terminals and other aliens. Theres alot of materials you can buy very cheap to save you hassle later :) as it will drain your hazard protection fast. Worth about 250 k each. 3. Goto a planet with gravinto balls. They will be everywhere and close by. you will likely get attacked by sentinals don't worry just ignore them keep collecting gravtino balls keep running along. After about 20 minutes your goner make about 2.8 million from collecting these easily. Build bases at the planets with these sellables. even if there just small outposts. And then you can teleport to those planets with the goal of collecting those items and it's another rewarding gameplay loop. Which adds another kinder mission you can do. Maybe you can search for the oldest fossil worth the most and keep it as treasure. Maybe there are fossils worth more then 1.8 mill I haven't found yet.
Played since February 2020 and still going. Game is amazing, with all the updates and next gen performance on the PS5, it's incredible. I'm still discovering new things while I explore.
I just bought no man's sky for me and for my son like two months ago and it's amazing, hope they keep updating it. A really good game that I intend to play for a good couple of years.
Enjoy it, my son and I been playing together for the past 5 years on it way more chill playing this than gta 5. Definitely one of our favorite father and son activities 😊
I bought NMS on PS when it first came out. I cannot believe how much it's changed since then. I built a PC recently and I think I'm gonna buy it again. Can't wait to see how it looks on my beast of a pc!
No Man's Sky has actually been in a good place for a while now. That being said, players don't spend all that long in it before they have seen "everything". There are a limited number of buildings, planets, ships, weapons, and so on. Expeditions do a good job of adding enough content for a new run every few months, though.
@@JD99-zj3gq I totally agree. The game lacks long-term goals. Unless you are a creative type or like to build huge structures, all the accomplishments can be finished in a few hours.
@@DrewBoivie Yep, and that wouldn't be a problem, if the things you can do would give you a lot of freedom, but you don't have that freedom. Take for example the new update that allows you to build a ship. Well, it's not really "building" when you can only build with like 6 parts, right? On top of that, all the ships will still generally look the same as a result, so there is really no incentive to spend much time on it. There is also a lot of stuff added to the game that artificially stretches the length of the game. The fact that you need 5,000 nanites just to buy a new color for your freight is a good example of that. But the biggest problem I have with No Man's Sky is the lack of quality of life updates. I've been playing PC games for about 40 years, and I can say an IBM certified interface designer, that this game has one of the worse user interfaces I ever came across for PC users.... by far. I'm not kidding when I say that I could write a book about it. The game itself is quite enjoyably however, but in my opinion it does quickly go stale.
That's really interesting - as someone who bounced off NMS at release because it was quintillions of planets wide but the gameplay was as shallow as a teaspoon, it sounds like they've continued to go wider and wider with more different activities and subsystems for players to engage with, but without really adding much more *depth* to the game at any point. It kind of looks like that perennial problem with procedurally generated games that it's easy to infinitely generate _content_ , but really hard to generate _meaning_ or _variety_ for any of it... and without meaning and meaningful variety even infinite content quickly gets stale and boring. It would be amazing what would be possible if NMS managed to add any kind of emergent narrative to the game, instead of packing the toolbox more and more full of pretty but simplistic and quickly-played-out toys.
I named a planet "Bethesda" and blew it up. Orange planet bad. But seriously, folks. I called Bethesda for their answer to NMS superior design. They told me "loading please wait" until they could come up with an answer. I get no re-entry, no re-entry at all.
This is a great short overview of how good No Mans Sky is I have friends I have recommended the game now I have something to show them that isn't several videos or an hour long. Thank you!
I have started over multiple times since purchasing it in 2016. My most recent start over, my last was a year ago. The storyline had become more in-depth and substantially filled out from just a year ago when I finished by jumping through the center of the galaxy.
I decided to platinum it after my brother in law did it, the first playthrough had a guide to do it relatively easily, the second permadeath playthrough was totally different with crafting required lol It was jarring but doable, a shortcut was possible with a certain character appearing at a space station but sods law they appeared near the end of the long way of doing it 😆
3 weeks in and loving it. Exploration is my favourite thing to do in a game and nms is great for that. It is a steep learning curve, you just have to take it slow and enjoy not knowing wtf is going on for a while, It all becomes clearer eventually and it's a great ride. As for the combat, never cared much about it. Pew pew, things are dead, hopefully not you. Satisfying in a way but no depth to it, imo.
I'm still really enjoying it. There's s much to learn and do, I feel as if I haven't really scratched the surface. I"m learning a lot from the Omega expedition - it introduces you to a lot of the key aspects of the game, including some I hadn''t experienced yet. It can be a bit frustrating, but on the whole it's fun. As for exploration, the incentive is the exploration itself - so many different interesting worlds. I found a frothing planet yesterday and acquired a companion in the form of a large colourful bubble that leaks red goo as it floats beside you - very bizarre and also cool. I could wish the base building interface was a bit easier to use but I'm coping with it. Why do you ask - are you wanting to get into it?
@@SilverBrumby165 I watched this beginners guide video and I really like metal mining and crafting at the start. It is very interesting. Just got into NMS on PSVR2, after owning it around a year after it launched. Visually it’s very impressive, in some ways the most arresting PSVR2 title available. They really did properly convert it for VR, and not just keep stick and button inputs. Gameplay systems wise it’s still a little obtuse, but given the depth, that’s probably unavoidable in some respects.
SO glad i waited patiently and now in 2024 i just got it on its first good sale on the AUS/NZ e shop that aligned with my financial situation lol, for 60% off so i paid about 21 US$ (30 Aussie) for the Deluxe Version w any/all DLC

Yeah over the years it’s been one of hell of a ride and they’ve done so much to build their universe up around us (for free which is mind blowing) but I do have one slight issue 8 years in the making…why can I still not paint my starship?????
NMs also has a weird, and somewhat innovative feature. Technically, its always online. However unless you're with someone or in the Space Anomoly, it is toggled off by the game itself. Then you can almost seamlessly transition from offline to on simply by entering the Anomaly, or finding others (which you're probably not gunna do unless you're in an expedition)
There was a game called Star Bound that my cousin showed me that had crafting and the ability to build your own ship and travel around the universe, exploring different planets and such. A side scrolling game. I loved the general idea but never played it yet. I brought it up recently how I loved the idea of crafting your own ship and exploring space, and he said " No Mans Sky ". Thus, why im here
Very informative compared to some other channels I could mention who go way over the top etc lol Will have to get back into this again. Thanks for sharing mate 👍
It’s been more than what they promised for years now. This game’s transformation has been nothing short of beautiful and amazing to experience first hand. It’s rare to be rewarded like this for sticking with a game that had a poor launch. Especially one that doesn’t have any microtransactions or monetization/Paid DLC of any kind. And the game is still growing. Hello Games deserves the gaming community’s attention and respect for not only delivering what they had promised but still to this day surpassing the original sales pitches and ads. While there is still issues and things that can be improved upon in the game, mainly it’s lack of depth in a lot of it’s core systems and mechanics, the game ultimately is such a joy to play. Very relaxing, fun space exploration with a good storyline and really cool building mechanics. So much to earn and unlock in the game and discover. Out of the pure space exploration games I’ve played, this is hands down my favorite. I love this game.
I have put 200 hours into this game, which while small-fry to some, for me that is a hell of a lot. I picked it up recently just because I noticed the cover art had changed and I was blown away by how much more polished it is. I know there is a lot more gameplay & things to do but its was the performance & the beauty of the menu screens that caught my eye. I like that I can look at all my discoveries and find planets that I have discovered ranked by deepest ocean, most beautiful etc. I noticed a breeding system for pets, new cosmetics and an absolute shit ton of stuff. I never liked how NPCs looked in this game. I still don't but maybe that is because of my bias towards a certain style of space game, but No Man's sky is certainly unique and has a unique charm and as ugly as the NPC and races are, they certainly have lore and everything which makes them interesting.
The game has been what they promised for a few years now actually -- everything since the Next update has just been extra frosting on the cake lol. Can't wait to see what they do with Light No Fire now that they've learned many lessons and proven they can match their ambition with execution.
Sweet little recap of how far this awesome game has come. Hands down a heavy 8 out of 10 for me, maybe even 9 now as of recently. As a person hopelessly in love with Starfield (700 hrs spent and loved every minute), loading NMS back up a couple weeks ago FINALLY ripped me away temporarily from it, after trying a couple of other games to help me do so to no avail. I played a good bit of NMS a few years ago and freaking loved it,but never pushed the full story. That was my incentive this time around, and boy was I hooked. Just finished the big main stories except for the Atlas Path, and wow. Some would say it's bare bones cliche blah blah, but as a guy hyper fixated on existential philosophy it was fantastic and really left me in deep thought. Other than the story, the gameplay loop is freaking great and rewarding, and the graphics fantastic. I actually decided to go from my Series X copy to the one on my Switch, and they just released an update to it that, though not anywhere near as beautiful as big boy platforms, actually is one of the best looking games on the handheld now imo.
@@TheFos88 well if you like sitting in 10 thousand loading screens, generic and boring ass quests where you have to be a mailman because apparently no one in this game knows how to send messages or call someone, I guess you could like the game

I’ve played it since launch and i love it definitely top 5 games on my list but its missing a lot of key aspects like villages, traders and other form of civilisations on the planets. The customisation for your character and ships is amazing but i would really love for them to add more.
might have to get into it finally. my AA sponsor plays it and he's 20 years older than me, lol. I'll give it a shot. Seems like it takes a lot of time and investment though.
Just got into it myself on PCVR with a Q3. The beginning is overwhelming, but I'm getting the hang of it. The hours just melt away. I've never played a VR straight from full battery power to 0% before, and so far I've done it THREE times in NMS.
I just started playing and not even going to lie, I play the expeditions more than my primary save. I find that having objectives that gives good rewards is actually pretty fun. Also trying to get that cool ship at the end is worth it.
"googling how to make stuff" is anything but a selling point for me. I loathe the fact that many games require me to go out of the game to understand how to play it.

80 hours in…might just be the best space game ever made. Great video.

I agree. Same thing for toxic flora for example. They look almost the same everywhere. I wish they’d add more diversity in buildings
@@DarthMohammedRules totally agreed man!

Worlds: Part 1 is rapidly approaching your location.
Definitely worth a try!
That's so awesome to see how far the game's been upgraded since I last played back in 2019/2020. I'd love to see the text become narrated, even AI narration could be a big improvement for some1 like me. Also, please add more cinematic cut scenes, + improve the ground combat

A genuine heartwarming story about a man and a dream falling and getting back up
Started playing for the first time today.
Epic confusion as well 😮
Some people play the game, others get played
"so I flew into space for the first time and died"
That's basically impossible in NMS even on the hardest settings unless you did something really stupid repeatedly, or ran into a strange bug.

I have some problems with the game buuuuuut it's an amazing accomplishment when you realize how vast the universe is and the potential for future updates. how is it? thinking about getting it
ngl I need this don't know where I've been for the past 8 years
I feel like alot of new players are coming tbh I want to make a little post here with a couple money making method for early game.
Interesting suggestions. Thanks
Do you have an incentive to explore?

No Man's Sky has actually been in a good place for a while now.
That being said, players don't spend all that long in it before they have seen "everything".
There are a limited number of buildings, planets, ships, weapons, and so on.
Expeditions do a good job of adding enough content for a new run every few months, though.
There is not much to do once you got a good starship, freighter and base, unless you like to do the same stuff over and over again.
@jamespalmer9033 the game has actually added a LOT of depth and TONS of variety especially recently
I named a planet "Bethesda" and blew it up. Orange planet bad. But seriously, folks. I called Bethesda for their answer to NMS superior design. They told me "loading please wait" until they could come up with an answer. I get no re-entry, no re-entry at all.
As a new, veteran player. I 100% agree and I’m only 10hrs in on ps5
This is a great short overview of how good No Mans Sky is I have friends I have recommended the game now I have something to show them that isn't several videos or an hour long. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
I have started over multiple times since purchasing it in 2016. My most recent start over, my last was a year ago. The storyline had become more in-depth and substantially filled out from just a year ago when I finished by jumping through the center of the galaxy.
Subscribed because of the novel approach to timing. Also, it’s a great video

Absolutely!
How has your experience been?
It’s been a month?
Are you enjoying visiting planets? Do you have an incentive to explore?
I have been wanting to get the game but always postponed it, as I enjoyed Empyrion Galactic Survival more as it had prettier planets in my eyes! I put in 400+ hours before uninstalling this year with a heavy heart... It was my favorite space survival game . Loved exploring planets, building bases, designing ground hover vessels, space crafts and large capital vessels. But I felt its time had come.
When Starfield launched, I was excited and I thought of playing it as a sandbox game - forget bout the quests, faction stuff and just role play as a scientist by scanning, surveying and exploring planets. Build some small outposts in planets I like to satisfy my crafting, decorating addiction and keep exploring and surveying planets. But the lack of in atmosphere flight and ground vehicles completely destroyed my interest.

@@Classicgamer73 Great to hear! 👊
Started the game on permadeath, that is a hard learning curve.
One cool feature is learning alien languages. The fact that that's optional is for real insane.
Pretty fun game tbh glad they at least made it as good as originally promised. I'm glad I waited until now to play it because I'm loving the game.
I've been loving NMS since The Next patch came out. I think nms has been what we wanted since then. Now it's just perfection.

Now I'm really thinking bout No Man's Sky. Your review helped. You and I are similar, we are late to this game and we loved older Space games - You - Elite - Me - Empyrion.
Thank you man!
Would be cool if they released a patch where you can have a mech arena combat, pilot a mech on 2 legs in a Arena labyrinth and blast eachother.
I mean, you could *build* an arena, turn on PvP, and do that, assuming the players/participants had the mechs to use.
Is there a engaging story? I find building in a universe somewhat boring for no purpose

Im amazed on how they were able to develop this game of this scale in just under 15 GB
guys is this 100% worth it? am i not gonna get bored eventually?
If you play Minecraft, Subnautica and this type of stuff, you will like it, if you are a kid playing brawl stars or Fortnite, you will not like it
You forgot to point out that the game is a one-and-done game.
You pay once and that's it, there are no DLCs or microtransactions.
In all the years the game has existed, Hello Games have not once charged for an update or new content.
I think this is the game i‘ll be playing while waiting for gta 6 .. looks amazing
