As someone who has played over 1700 hours in this game (over several different saves), this was very entertaining to me, taking me back to my first days of playtime. It is fun to watch someone discover the game as a new (or returning after several years) player. There really is no end to the game. @@RayofpandasGamingChannel - I haven't finished the video yet, but as far as what to do... it's entirely up to you and what sort of things you enjoy.
You could travel different galaxies (256 "galaxies" with 80 quintillion planets (Euclid galaxy, the one you started in, is just ONE,) and look for your "perfect planet" there are many different types, the most sought after are paradise planets.
You could build the ultimate base or dozens of different bases on different planets.
Build a money farm, by mining ore or gasses or you can build a plant farm.
You could go "ship hunting" collecting your favorite ships. (There are amazing living ships to collect too that have a very long story/quest line to get your first)
You can max out your rep with all the different races.
You could become a space pirate.
Then there are time limited events that happen occasionally.. That give you a new start and lot of different objectives to complete for rewards that are "account wide".
There are side objectives you can complete too some give a title others give a transmog item or currency.
      Complete all the achievements.
Or just play online with friends.

I love NMS and still play it at least once a week. But I can recognize it's repetition issues and need for rewarding ground combat if it is going to ever have mainstream appeal. The developers are very active and can do anything they want when it comes to lore so I have high hopes. It definitely needs some level of conflict beyond the annoying flies that they call sentinels.
They did great with space combat but now we need some sort of faction wars or something. I imagine them adding solar systems that are actually at war, where the player can go and choose which race he wants to support and fight for, then help that race win control of the system through a series of ground and space flights. Sort of like a conquest sort of thing.

Its refreshing to see someone playing NMS with such an open mind. So many people fall into patterns or exploit weaknesses within the game and its economy to give them a significant advantage (looking at you chorline dupe), and it can severly underhand the experience devs intended for players to have. I say this as someone who discovered the chlorine dupe waaay early on and have used it to my advantage ever since. 😅😂 I mean, why wouldn't I? Just saying it's nice to see someone actually play the game in 2023 and not try to cheese every situation.

I had pretty much the exact same experience when I first started No Man's Sky.
1400 hours in-game later... I am still pretty enthusiastic and still see and find things I never saw before. It really is an amazing game... and they just keep making it bigger and better for FREE without a single microtransaction or paid DLC.
Every single cosmetic item and upgrade is earned through gameplay.
What got me as a beginner was the failure to really appreciate the vastness of the game.
I spent days on one planet... the second planet I visited... exploring, mining, building. I put a base computer down at anything the least bit interesting, assuming I would want to return 😂.
And then I progressed and gain access to all the research, base parts and upgrades. 🤯
And then I got big into ship hunting, still kinda am... though I don't photograph and catalog every single one anymore 😂.
And then I got into seeking out Curious Deposits to build nanite farms for the public to take advantage of.
And then I started building music festivals and creating ByteBeat music for them.
And then I got into building a freighter base with super detail, like its real and being lived on.
And then I got into genetically manipulating eggs to make crazy cool creatures and then trade them with others.
And then I decided to be a pirate on a permadeath save... we do not sow. I didn't work for anything... I stole it all 😂.
And then, and then, and then... 😂😂😂
I just recently... like a week ago... finally completed the story, because the most recent update required it to access the new stuff. 😂😂😂😂.
Its not like any other game. Its a tiny universe in a box pretty much. And its your oyster. There is so much to do and so many ways to do it... and as soon as I get a little bored, they drop a new update. 😂

@@RayofpandasGamingChannel cool. There are so many ways to be sucessful in NMS... and so many definitions of what "sucessful" is, you could make 100 videos just on earning money and resources lol.
The cooking and crafting trees are insane too. I built a few stasis device factories, that requires an entire solar system of just the right combo of planets to have all the ingredients necessary to make each item that is combined with other crafted items to make the items you need to make a stasis device. 🤣
I only wish there was more to do with all those top tier craftables besides sell them or give them away. The income cap at like 4.3 billion renders a stasis device system pointless once you max out. But randos could stumble on it and go from broke to stinking rich in an hour.

This was a really well put together video and we'll editted. I must say to anyone who has not played no man sky yet but wishes to do so, much is covered here but it is by no means comprehensive. There is so much more to do than is in this video from pets to animal farming to building gaseous silos to town/village management to cooking and creating dishes to building the most incredible and decorative bases. Not to mention discovering entirely new universes, yes universes not galaxies, music making, unlocking new outfits and learning how to create a 'living ship' the list goes on. This video helped me break out of my shell a bit with games. Ive played this game a bunch and i tend to put myself in a box and think that theres a certain way to play every game but seeing you happen upon the portal before ever setting foot in a space station was eye opening lol. You really can do whatever you want, whenever you want and i know that may sound obvious but it feels refreshing to be reminded of it! I was in red star systems with a multitude of bases across different systems with a freighter and multiple starships in my posession before i went to the portal 😂

Enjoyed your reaction. I've been playing NMS on the PS4 since 2018, and I can tell you that A LOT of additions have been made since then.
One great thing about this game is that it is whatever you choose to make of it. If you wanna just be a space-hobo, no problem. If you want to stay on just one world or in just one system, OK. If you want to build bases, then do so. If you want a big-@$$ freighter and cr#ptons of money, it's just a matter of putting in the work - and there are plenty of different ways just to get rich. If you want all of these things and more, it's all on you.
I would also say, no idea how it is for the PC-users, but the general PS4 NMS community I have found to be extraordinarily helpful and supportive. Griefers are possible, but very VERY rare - a few adjustments to Settings make them mostly a non-issue.
My original copy of this game, I bought from a 'Used Games' shelf, after hearing how the game had turned itself around. Best damn fifteen bucks I ever spent. :)

I love that when the game released we worked out that if you spend 20 minutes mining and refining cobolt on the first planet, when you get to your first station you can afford to set yourself up for the coming storyline easily. And if you spend a few more minutes and get lucky, the first station will have a better multi or ship. Years later and this is still a thing.
My favourite part is when you discovered that and your reaction, how it sparked something in you to go further. That is what this game is and why people have 1000s of hours in it. Its coming across things in the game and discovery and being blown away. The balance of emptiness and the treasures you find there.

I just spent my first few hours in NMS this morning... and I definitely did not spend that much time on my starting planet. I followed what it wanted me to do and found a nice temperate planet to settle on. Now I'm wondering what all I possibly missed on that radioactive place. I am definitely discovering a lot more on my current planet, though! I'm stopping before I watch too much of this to spoil tons, but I'll come back later lol

I’m only four minutes and 20 seconds in and I’ve had way more laughs then I was supposed to. Didn’t expect the comedy.

So what happens when u reset is as many have said, you are kinda teleported to another galaxy. You can choose which type of galaxy you want to travel to and the type you chose will dictate what kinds of plants are generated more commonly. There are 255 galaxies in total each with slightly different planet generations. The galaxy you are first spawned is called the Euclid Galaxy. You can search them up in the wiki.
You can also travel to the center of any galaxy by warping towards it. Once you are at the center , you can go through a worm hole which will spit you out into a different random galaxy.. (i think it was random, someone correct me if im wrong :3 )
Anyways, theres no end in the game really, its pretty much a sandbox like minecraft. Its up to you to define your goals and how you want to end it :)
The vid was a blast to watch. Thank you ! Would love to see more like this. !

oh forgot to mention , jumping into a new galaxy will cause damage to you exosuit modules and starship modules. They will need to be repaired. So having a freighter base will come in handy , and also have all the necessary mats needed when you jump.
