I work for LVMPD and can confirm that she had every round in her magazine loaded backwards. Also, the round that appears to be "shorter" is because when she pulled the trigger the firing pin actually struck the bullet and compressed it into the brass.
My initial thoughts was either a .380 or a lighter grain bullet. Thanks for the clarification.

6:56 as a reloader, I can tell you that is the same round, just with the freedom seed pushed too far into the casing (probably when the slide was trying to chamber the round the opposite way). Unless the round is meant to operate at higher pressures and depending on what powder you are using (rate of burn and all that), the casing is around 60% powder 40% air, allowing the freedom seed to take the space of the air.
I’m honesty amazed she is alive after so many rounds. Just so hard to stop stupid.

It being Las Vegas I am sorta shocked they didn't "secure the scene" until she had plenty of time to bleed out.
The different length is due to bullet setback. When you chamber the same cartridge over and over it starts to push the bullet back in the case.

I guess if you keep loading them bass-akwards, that's going to happen faster. Kinda suprised it managed to feed the round that far, but I've never thought to try loading a magazine in reverse.

I don't think he was thinking about that, especially as he was shooting down into the ground. I think he did that because it makes him a moving target and gave him a clear shot (since the bush was originally in the way).

Owned a cute .22 caliber semi-auto AR-7 survival rifle in the 1980s, this funny little thing that packed down into its black plastic stock. It was prone at first to occasional feed and ejection jams but was good fun for plinking. A friend liked the look of it and went out and bought one too. His brand new rifle jammed twice on the first magazine, then on the second literally turned a live round back to front and jammed it in the breech. He took the AR back to the store and got an entirely different plinker. Mine was ok-ish for a while then went on to jamming every other shot, sometimes trapping live rounds sideways in the breech. I sold it cheap with the caveat 'needs work' and explained very carefully to the new owner that they should get a gunsmith to look at it. I might have done that myself but the love affair was over. Cute couldn't trump dangerous anymore. I read years later that it was made during a rather bleak period for Armalite quality-wise.
I'm so glad you did this one. I was within an hour or so from this shooting heading to that very Target. The cops wouldn't let me go to Target because of this ahooting.
the bullet on the left was shorter because when she racked the reverse round, the slide seated the projectile even deeper into the casing. she genuinely loaded the bullets in backwards
That's a 9 mm round and 40 rounds. You can see how the bullet is different in shape.
She certainly doesn't seem to be the brightest one.

It happens to the top bullet in the mag from loading it back into the chamber multiple times after dryfiring it. Have to change it out once in a while.
My wife has done this before. We were at the range and was wondering why the slide wouldn't close. I look at it and every round was in the magazine backwards. We had a nice chat after that with plenty of laughs

Funnily enough I first heard of Donut from PhantomLex who donated Donut a set of asiimov skins in CSGO after he saved Squirt. This was back when Donut had less than 30k subs iirc and to see Donut now has 4 mil subs is amazing. Well deserved too.
While I've never seen that video, or watched much of his gaming content, I am familiar with the backstory.
Kinda makes me curious as to the fate of another LEO of Internet fame, although the particular individual in my mind's eye was never identified, so far as I know, or if so, left unlauded if not otherwise immortalized.
Specifically, the officer who replies to the detainee whose hilarious quip & subsequent groans of physical exertion are embodied in an early bit of meme source material.

I had to look up the source material. Officer Evan Rosenthal, of the LVMPD, 2007. Last major meme iteration appears to be 2018.
This reminded me of an event in 2002 or 2003. I was a probation officer at the time. I came in on a Monday and had notifications that one of my probationers was arrested by local police over the weekend. The probationer was found with a stolen .380 automatic pistol and he was trying to load it with a .38 Special round. I talked to the arresting officer and we both agreed we would have loved it if he actually loaded it and tried firing it.

Well he shot, pulled the hammer back, and forcefully turned the cylinder by hand, screwing up the timing on it. I told him thats not how you use a revolver, but he looked at like I'm stupid and I don't have a year using my own gun. So yeah, uncle's can be stupid.
Holy shit, those lengths are way off. Action wouldn't even cycle one in. That does bring up an incident. Dude was slapping the back of his glock, I RSO'd up. He'd managed to load up the mag with .40 for a 9mm. He'd buried that bullet back into the case. Knife and a Gerber and 4 hands. We got it squared away. He'd reached the wrong way to load up and extra effort to get those things in there 😂Took someone else's ammo. Fun times

HOLY SHIT! did the other 4, meh. It hurt. Looked at the box before reloading, it was my .357SWC. She switched out the boxes so I wasn't shooting her ammo 🤦♂Also her pistol was shipped back to factory for work on lock up probably why the .357 target dropped right in. Carry JHP won't, nose to long to push the cylinder to lock.

I have a Taurus G2c and a G3.
They are actually great little guns.
I've sent thousands of rounds through them and only had one jam.
My young son has had several jams in the exact, same guns.
The gun will jam if you do anything to block or obstruct the movement of the slide.
Also, you can jam a bullet by not fully and properly racking a round into the chamber.
Both issues come from not properly handling the firearm.
I have never seen someone more deserving to be on "Worlds Dumbest Criminals."

I worked as a range instructor for first time gun owners for a little while, and yes, people occasionally will put cartridges in the magazine backwards.
I honestly think this is why the stack guide on the follower of the m4/m16 magazine is molded in the shape of a cartridge rather than a generic lump. So that even if you're an idiot, you have an example of which way the bullets are supposed to face.

I can't even tell you how many times I've seen people put bullets backwards in their mags, and then are *completely baffled* when the gun doesn't work. It happens more commonly with steel cased ammo, and I think it's because they see the shiny part (bullet) and think "oh, shiny part go backwards." Or maybe they're just stupid. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

She chambered the left bullet multiple times forcing it to seat deeper into the case. That's why I always carry with a ball up front with the HP behind it. Once it starts to get compressed I send it down range and hold one back out of the box I'm taking to the range

I had a gun shop owner who told me a story just like this - 20 plus years ago. Police officer had always been issued revolvers. She decides to buy a personal weapon and decides on a semiauto. Brings it back the very next day with...yep, a round jammed backwards into the chamber, and the entire mag loaded backwards.

@@johnviera3884 A magazine is only a container. It holds what you put into it, how you put it in. If anything, the taper of the bullet nose would make it easier to load backward if one doesn't use a spring-lever and one is deficient in both training and sense. The rounds would not come cleanly off the stack when the slide comes forward, of course, and would end up cockeyed in any of a number of ways. By mere chance, though, now and then one will be pushed partway into the chamber by the strength of the recoil spring, and wedge there.

You can partially chamber non rimmed cartridges backwards. They get really stuck and they’re really scary to get out and every time someone does it it makes me hate them for putting me through the fear of “will I go home with both hands today?”
