  • It's a loooong one! Grab a drink, maybe some popcorn and check out this semi-blind dive into a box of cards I picked up at a garage sale for $50. Spoiler: I show some of what I believe are the nicest cards at the end.

Man, I absolutely love "finds" like this. You know, a bunch of cards that haven't been gone though for decades - because you never know what you're going to find.
I just recently purchased a 2500 card hockey lot (from 75/76 to 80/81) on eBay from an antique dealer and it was absolutely LOADED - it was clearly put in the attic 40 years ago and forgotten about until this antique dealer had he foresight to pick it up at an estate sale... I mean, I pulled (2) really solid NM-MINT 79/80 Topps Wayne Gretzky rookies out of the lot/collection, plus another (5) unscratched 2nd year Gretzky's (#250) in near mint condition along with multiples of every rookie (Bourque, Bossy, Trottier etc), star and Hall of Famer that had a card from 75/76 to 80/81 Topps - so it was quite a thrill.. And I would consider the lot/collection I picked up recently a "quasi-large find" because you don't pull Wayne Gretzky rookie cards out of random collections unless they're supposed to be there, lol.. So these garage/attic or basement finds are absolutely fantastic, I'm always searching for them because they're such a treat to go though - especially when you know the cards havent been searched or gone though in decades... But on the flip-side of the coin, when you go searching for stuff like this - 99% of the time you find nothing but junkwax era stuff - but when you do find an unsearched vintage lot/collection - it makes up for it! lol

Super jealous!!! Thanks for watching - I love the treasure hunt aspect of picking up collections. I've got 1 million+ cards mostly picked up in big lots - wish I was at the point where I could share my adventures with y'all - I've probably averaged 3-4 sizable pickups a year for the past 13 years and have definitely uncovered some gems!. I understand collectors that like ripping wax, but I just can't get into it - I like this type of hunt.
