You need to include the price you paid to get the card graded! Very important information. Since the grade limit you could get all is determined by the "declared value".
Wow is PSA so inconsistent. Nice grades for you. Congrats. For PSA to go up "2" grades are insane. Really nice Sandberg. I have 3 that I've never graded because They just don't give out 10's. Well I guess I'm wrong. Nice!! Thanks for the reveal
Thanks for watching! I've held that Sandberg for a while now, really glad I finally pulled the trigger! I think it's pretty clear that PSA has a consistency problem when 3 out of 4 resubs change. I think they are a victim of their own grading scale being intentionally so subjective. Though that doesn't seem to be putting a dent into their business. I try not to hate, and I continue to play the game, so expressing my opinion is a bit of a balancing act...
I love the old BVG labels - I can't recall when they eliminated subs off the vintage stuff. While Beckett might not grade as harsh on the vintage, I honestly think that they might be the most accurate. A 5 should be a 5, not a 4. I don't hesitate to grab BVG labels for my PC. For that matter, I also like the original GAI stuff too...
@@jbscardshow Late 2005 they quit using sub grades. I have a 71 Pete Maravich card graded by BGS in 2000 which was two years before BVG. A Staubach rookie in a BGS 8 recently sold for just 1200 bucks. What a steal that was. Before BVG Beckett was notoriously tough on cards.
With submitting several cards a second time and getting different grades, how can we be confident in any of their grading system? How many 9s do we have that should have been a 10? Don't know if I want to waste my money on PSA. Thanks for the video.
I heard you say several times during your video you can't recall or can't remember. May I suggest writing it down. That's what I had to do when I started not remembering things. Nice Sandberg.
Thanks for watching and sharing the same opinion as many of us in the hobby! Biggest issue with grading is consistency and adherence to stated standards.
Just curious if you looked at all of these under magnification before sending them? PSA gives some leeway on centering which is 55/45 and no more that 60/40 front and back according to their page.
I don't generally use magnification when I pick cards to submit. I'm not saying that I don't recommend looking closer than I do, I've just been submitting cards for so long I mostly trust my gut. Part of my personal reasoning, though, is that I'm generally not sending in cards that I expect or 'need' to get 10s on as I mostly play around in the more vintage eras and am looking for 7s-9s a lot of the time.
Welcome to the world of PSA! Where 6’s today are 8’s tomorrow and MINSIZERQ the next day! It’s kind of how disgusting PSA is when it comes to their actual grading, so are sooooo bad with the ups and downs between orders. Thank you for these videos. Everyone needs to know, monetary value aside (after grading), PSA is terrible at grading cards. Industry worst in my opinion compared to CGC SGC and BGS
Thanks for watching! I don't think there's any arguing against the consistency issue. I've done 3 PSA submissions post-pandemic, and I've decided I really need to steel my nerves for a craps shoot if I'm going to send any cards their way. Not the biggest fan of the game at the moment, but I still play....
That's so true. Why spend your hard earned money to pay for that inconsistent grading and then to pay them twice to try and get the grade you deserved in the first place. It's ridiculous. I've wasted too much money in that grading company trying to maximize my return only to get terrible results from PSA. Only "we" can change it.
I think all grading is inconsistent simply because it’s so objective. There are so many surface issue we don’t see on eye appeal but would look different under a loop. I blame the people who continue to only buy the high grades for what the hobby has become. I will buy the card over the grade, because an 8 can look like a 9 and a 9 can look like a 10. But the hobby is full of people who want to pound their chest regarding their collections and only chase the higher grades no matter what the card looks like.
PSA is controlling the market for sure.... Big cards getting lower grades with reason.... you'll never see Jordan, Henderson, Mantle's ever getting 10s again...Beckett's having 4 grading results is more honest.
The problem with graders is that you have a new generation grading them! They see these refractors and the new generation cards that come off the press immaculate! The 80's generation that graded these put that into play! Majority of them have retired!

PSA needs to be very specific as to why the grade was given . For example off center, coloring, and explain we’re it is located . Your paying them for a service and they SHOULD explain the flaws in the cards! SMH
Thanks for watching - glad you enjoyed! I am like a lot of collectors that grade, I think. A lot of the PC does get subbed for fun, but I definitely send some in with the explicit intent of flipping to fund more of the PC stuff. For me, the PC will eventually be handed down to my kids or sold off to fund school or something hopefully.
I just think two simplistically on this topic I guess. One person grades it a six the other person grades it an eight. if there is no standard of grading, then the grades really should mean nothing. The purchaser should look at the card and see what kind of condition they think it’s in, and that is all that matter.
This is it. How they get away with not doing this makes me question why people pay them for their "opinion". The problem is that it is an opinion and there is no way for PSA to know if the slab was cracked and resent for regrading. It's all too subjective for me.
@@spmacdonald precisely why I don't and wouldn't ever collected graded cards. the same cards graded a 10 that sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars you can find the same looking card for 5 or 10 bucks lol.well some maybe 20 or 30 bucks depending on which card. now I will say you may have to spend some serious time going through tons of listings inspecting everything but perfectly centered raws are out there for cheap with perfect sharp corners. and from an eye appeal looking at the card standpoint there is NO difference from the 5 dollar raw on ebay to the 900 dollar "PSA 10" ... this is the reality.
