This was super helpful. On my 2013 ram the center (orange and white) wire is the backup lights. I didn’t tap into the ground on the wiring harness but grounded the camera on bare metal on the truck to keep things simpler

It would be difficult for me to try to trouble shoot. But what I can reccomend is check your wiring diagram and temporarily place on some other wires and it might help to trouble shoot quicker

I have the same year as you, connected to the black and green wires and i get a display on the dash "trailer brake disengaged" and a red trailer with a line through it. Any idea why?

Does your truck have a trailer brake controller under your headlight switch? These trucks are extremely finicky about what you connect to them. It's possible you've fried the trailer brake controller which displays that message on the screen.

To pop out that trailer harness, did you push the clamps in from under the truck, or from the outside?

I plug the cables red and black on the reverse(+) and reverse (-) ,like you say,but my camara dont turn on,i check the volts and i have 8volts,can you give me some advice please?,by the way thanks for the video you oready help me a lot sir.good video.

Francisco Valdes there should be a third lead you have to hook to the positive. It should be two wires to positive and one negative

I used your video (best I’ve seen so far) to hook up my 2012 1500. However there’s nothing happening when I put truck in reverse. Went through my driving setting on head unit and enabled the reverse camera viewing...still nothing. I’m stuck

The back up camera was a Amazon one just a $40 one. The radio is a axxess apple car play from crutchfield

That’s because you probably didn’t connect the red wire on the back up camera to the reverse wire in the back harness.
