Good afternoon PB. I did the radio and backup cam install just as in this video. 2012 ram without steering wheel control. The backup cam worked for about two weeks and then looked vertical purple lines once, then nothing. Any ideas how to test for the issue? I checked connections in back of radio, in left tail lamp and power from 12v power socket. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Michael PS- love the CarPlay radio setup. Very nice.
@provobeastaudio I have a 2010 ram 2500, this model has the full console. that spot where you t tapped into my truck didn’t come with that option unfortunately there’s just a little open storage box. So my question is where else can I snag accessory power from up by the radio?
@@ProvoBeastAudio but as soon as I touch my backup camera red wire to the red and white reverse light wire, the reverse lights stay on and won’t turn off.
So I installed my back up camera everything works but it works manually not automatically switching on when in reverse how would I be able to get to switch on while in reverse any ideas
Your Ram year rewired a smart harness, and usually those smart harnesses provide a reverse trigger wire to provide that feature for you. So depends on what parts you used for the install.
I did one where there could have been a backup camera for my 12 ram. I got everything at the back done wire ran inside. Tomorrow I'll make the first real onnection.
Okay this does not look like my 2012 Dodge Ram camera! Mine is on the side of the tailgate latch handle. Where can I find a video to replace my factory made camera?

Which wire is the reverse trigger wire from the smart harness?
Easy to find. Take a test light and put it to a good ground. Probe the pins until you find the one that lights up with it in reverse. Done

Does the position of the camera stay the same? Have a 5 inch lift kit
My backup lights stay on when I connect it directly into the wire
Did you hook up both ends of the red wire on the backup camera, one to accessory and the other to the reverse lights?
@@ProvoBeastAudio I just hooked the reverse light wire into the red wire on the backup camera and ground was grounded with bolt?

@@ProvoBeastAudio as in, reverse lights stay on even in drive for some odd reason. Mine is also a 2012 ram 1500

I had my tailgate stolen and they took the rear camera with it does this also apply to my situation?
