You have a good analysis. And I like how you interspersed some 1 or 2 second clips from other episodes to stealthily emphasize a point without saying a word about them.
Loved your analysis. One thing you didn’t focus on which is my fav moment of the whole episode which I would like to add. The moment when he gives up his “front” as spike - we see william come out - and we see it twice in this episode. First, when she throws him to the floor in the alley and tells he he’s beneath her. And he becomes genuinely hurt/emotional. And he reacts by pushing william back behind his spike persona with anger. He then rides his fury all the way to her with his gun… then her emotion/humanity breaks spike right back down to william. In an instant his fury vanishes. He can’t help but show kindness and compassion. It’s so beautiful to see. It’s not the slayer that breaks through to william, it’s Buffy.
absolutely perfect. I get so tired of people only seeing the words and completely ignoring the actions on screen.
