One of the more refreshing designs in SFV IMO. Mostly in how she plays.
Menat is on paper Amakusa from Samurai Spirits, played more or less like a faster Dhalsim with a dash of Rose, and Venom's (from Guilty Gear) ability to setup a single dormant projectile. I wouldn't say she's completely unique in her playing style, but she's definitely my favourite Season 2 character.
tcchip, the fact that you had to list that many references just proves the point of Menat's originality further. When it comes to art and design, there is no such thing as being completely original. As human beings, we have to base everything we do or make on things that we've seen and done.
Shahar, the first time I played Menat, the reference to Amakusa was very clear, as is the throwback to Rose. But although Menat in principle plays like Amakusa (who in turn is similar to Dhalsim), she is much faster compared to Dhalsim or Amakusa.

I feel like Menat should've been in the series since sf alpha, she's just got such a great and surprisingly straightforward design. She's right up there with Dudley, Poison, Elena and Sakura as one of my all-time favorites.

Menat was the reason I got back into SFV for a while. She's adorable, has an appealing design that compliments her region, has some of the best animations in the game. I fell in love with her fighting style after two days of training with her and even did pretty well in online matches, she's a lot of fun! :)

*Fun Fact* : Menat was supposed to have cat ears on her default headdress, but I’m glad that they were removed.

Even though he's a Capcom fighter, he's from Darkstalkers (Vampire Savior in Japan), Street Fighter's sister series. Menat is really this franchise's first egyptian character, let alone fighter.

Menat is (in my opinion) the best thing about SFV altogether. Really hope she gets put in more games in the future. Would like to see her given a chance to shine in a game where everybody else is also allowed to shine.

If you look at her forward most hand, she does that famous Egyptian snake like motion as she walks.
I love this character's design so much, I bet the people who worked on her had fun while doing it.
They nailed Menat. The people who worked on her deserve a raise. I love everything about her. "That was a close one!" :D
You didn't mention that she's the only character that has a special animation when she gets a Perfect in SFV.
I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this in the comments already, but Capcom has already revealed that in the very early design stages of Menat they were thinking about including a cat goddess-like character (based on an Egyptian goddess no less). That original idea was scrapped, but her cat-like demeanor comes from that stage (That Christmas outfit you've shown as well).
Menat is a very fun character to look at, play with and a NIGHTMARE to play against. One of the best character designs in SF.

Menat means so much to me, as an Egyptian who has been playing street fighter all my life seeing representation made me so happy, even tho she's very stereotpyical, shes really fun to play and personality is sweet, I was skeptical of SFV ever since release but as soon as she dropped I knew I had to get the arcade edtion.

When Menat dropped, I feel in love with the character design. I’m terrible playing as her, but that doesn’t stop me from having fun with such a great character.
Menat is one of the greatest design successes in fighting game history. That's gameplay, sure(she technical AF, but every game's got technical, so that's not really a con), but it's also visual design. It's animation and voice. She's a really amazing design.

Despite having a moveset with many elements taken from other characters, Menat stands out as one of the most refreshing new fighting game characters in recent memory and I for one hope her new archetype becomes just as ubiquitous with the genre as the Original Eight.

Yes, Menat and Zeku are easily my favorite new characters from SFV.
Something that you missed covering is that Menat's design does take some influence from rhythmic gymnastics. One of the initial sketchups for her character by Bengus has her wearing a fitness top and shorts to compliment all the twirling around she does with the crystal ball.ball.

I don't really like SF's designs, but this character is so fun to watch. She feels more like an ArcSys or Skullgirls character.
Edit: and now you just proceeded to show footage of exactly those games when talking about characters that show personality visually.

I think it just clicked why I love watching these kinds of videos so much. You talk about telling a story with body movements, about having to convey character through animations. I'm a pro wrestling trainee, and we basically do the same thing, just in a different situation. We too have to appear in front of people who've never seen us before, and convince them of our motivations and characteristics simply by how we look and move around. Cool bit of crossover. :)

Most of SFV character design; fighting stance，walk and other movements were so very well done. Movements were delicate and so lifelike. They did way better job than Nether Realm studios.

Was waiting for this video for a long time, and it did not disappoint. :) Menat is my favorite design in SF5 just by how excellent her animations were. Considering how cartoonish her story artwork was, I was floored by the in-game model. Also, I have yet to see a Menat costume from Capcom I didn't like. ;)

I really love Menat, for how her personality is presented in game, to the design, to the little story behind her, she was an awesome addition to the roster (ALSO THAT STORY & BATTLE OUTFIT DOE...sadly I didn't have SFV when her christmas costume came out, I just got it when AE was released :c)
