1:27 is my favorite
those are the french horns and they sound so amazing
Listening at 1:24... am I hearing the clarinets out of synch with each other and the lyrical line?
Robert Marks there definitely is

Pretty shocking mistake for the presidents own
@@colinbrown7947fr I’m a 8th grader in band and we play better *(sorta)

Alto, Bari, Tenor, Soprano?
I'm alto
@@jellerer There was one guy in our band who started alto, and then went to tenor, and then went to baritone bc we didn't have anyone else who wanted to do those lol.
playing this in band, amazinggg
Sou fã da Michelle Rakers.
Amazing job everyone I know all of your names so it’s it’s just I want to play a orchestral instrument I play piano
Makes me wanna dance around like a little goblin
I thought it would be cool to play in a military band, but the recruiter I talked to said I was too old, that I had to be under age 28. Funny, a lot of the band members look older than 28.
The age requirement is the age that you have to enlist by, not a maximum age for remaining in the Marine Band. Different branches of the military have different age limits for enlisting though, so you may still be eligible to enlist in other branches.
The President’s Own is the only non-combatant ensemble in the US military. No basic training required. At least that’s what I was told over 20 years ago; I could be wrong.
The only thing i would say about it is I would like to hear more of the alto clarinet in 0:49 there's a wonderful sound being produced, but it's being diluted by the saxes. Just my opinion
vilmaxblast bass clarinet
@@matthewaverbukh7156 its alto clarinet, not bass clarinet.
1:36 is fun
Superlative.
are you there?
the sixth movement is a little too slow, but in general enchanting and it sounds like it's impossible to play. Keep it up.👌

Though the musician ship isn't as good Fennels interpretation with the Navy band is more to my liking. Its not as heavy and dark as the Marine Band interpretation. For over all presentation I'll take the NorthTexas wind band interpretation. Her again there are some issues with muscianship but the over all effect to me is better. DaConinatillas Wind Band is up there in the mix too. Cincinnati Pops wind band with Fennel conducting is superb.
What even is that conducting? I'm sorry, but...I couldn't understand that
That's just how they conduct lol music teachers do it differently cause I think they have too idk lol
us marine peeps playin a British folk melody
+ Luis Your point?
@@AntPDC its ironic (sorry saying this 4 years later)
@@xeon2773 it’s lit
It's not their fault that some British dude wrote the biggest bangers in history
Grainger was Australian and then obtained US citizenship, so not British at all.
A little to slow
I think they're moreso playing to the choral version that they performed, which in order to sing the lyrics, requires a significantly slower tempo.
Albeit, for band, I would agree that the much faster tempo sounds much more exciting.
Best to play something slow and and right than to play it fast and mess up
@@emiliohernandez7214 maybe but this is the president's own, one of if not the best wind ensembles in the country. I doubt they took it slow for that reason
Again, overrefined and a bit slack. Great ensemble sound, though!
If you were to conduct this ensemble, how would would you have differently interpreted this piece? I ask because you must have an incredible musical background to hear areas improvement in what is arguably the most prestigious wind ensemble in the country.
I would put more energy into the beat, a bit sharper accent on the accented notes, and better rhythmically shaped phrases. This is a respectable read-through but little more. Listen to Frederick Fennell conducting Eastman's Wind Ensemble for example.
Couldn't agree more.
I also enjoy the RNCM Wind Orchestra recording, conducted by Tim Reynish.
Overrefined how?
timpani
It’s giving 1600s
LESS FOR US😢, SURELY WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE FOR US😂 AND CHE AND ISRAEL.❤❤ ISRAEL IS A LAND AND NOT AN ISLAND. IN THE MEDITERRANEAN ON THE CORNER BELOW.😮
Wow. This is slow. Are they still learning it? 😮😢😴😴😴😴🤢
No it isn't
this is not slow wym 😭
