oh my god dude! I am hearing this woman for the first time. I got goosebumps. It's great to know that there are singers like this in the world.
She is 2003 eurovision winner
Isn't it amazing that she sings while sitting on a chair, and does not even bother using the full capacity of her diaphragm?

She studied opera in conservatory. She is a coloratura soprano. Very unique voice and technique she has even though she is at her late 50s. Plus she can sing while sitting is the most mesmerising part I guess.

Sertab'ın sesi başka bir kulvardadır. Aldığı eğitimin üstüne çıkan nadir yeteneklerdendir. Öyle mükemmel bir tekniği var ki sesi yıllar içinde bozulmadı değişmedi.
My mom was an English teacher in Turkey when I was in my early teens. I had an older teenage girl as a neighbor who would blast Sertab. I learned enough Turkish to walk to the local music store to ask for her album. Sakin Ol! on cassette. When we came back to America, I played her for all of my friends. She’s my favorite Turkish singer. A lot of Turkish musicians are trained and schooled in music. So cool to see her get some love from this side of the Bosphorus.
I do have that tape as well, LOL WE RE OLD
O bir koloratur soprano mükemmel bir sanatçı. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion 50'li yaslara gelmeden seslerinde bozulmalar yaşadı ve Sertab 60 olacak hala efsane

3:28 - she used to do that transition more smoothly in a single breath as a younger singer. Still she's fantastic. She's also recorded a duet of this song with the Greek singer Mando, also worth listening to. She is one of the best artists in Türkiye.
I saw her live a couple weeks ago and she did a much smoother transition than in this video. Must be nearly impossible to do perfectly, every time.
Burada Sertap tam 55 yaşında. Bence bu şarkıyı (Candan Erçetin Sertap Erener canlı) yazarak tekrar dinlemelisin!
Sertap’ın Türkiyenin en güçlü seslerinden biri olduğunu rahatlıkla söyleyebilirim. Videonda yer verdiğin için minnettar hissettim

New singer to me! Thank you everyone who recommended her!
Sertab Erener is the prima donna of contemporary Turkish music. Her vocals can be as powerful as and as soft as she likes. When she sings powerfully, you would expect Jeanne D’Arc to sing like that. When she sings softly, you expect a fairy to sing like that. Sends shivers down the spine. Each and every time. God given talent, beatifully cultivated and cared for. God bless her.
Ah Sertab'ım❤️ Tüylerim diken diken oldu her zamanki gibi.
First time I heard her singing I was chilling at Konyaalti beach, Antalya in 1991. Since back then, I haven't heard any other voice as heavenly as Sertab’s. She is out of this world and such a voice comes once in a 40 years.
Your nickname :D

Actually this song was from a studio album in 1999 when she was in her 35. She had very strong voice at that time. Then this cover is approximately 20 years later. When she was nearly in her 55. She still have a strong voice and a complex singing technique. And I love her tone... Thank you for your reaction 🤗
This, I was looking for this. 👍
Although she is still amazing, her young voice was much more smoother. Still after all those years, she is captivating, goosebumps.
I agree with that. Her voice is much stronger when she was younger.

😂😂 ağlama ya şaka yaptım.
She's incredible! The overall delivery really drove home the anguished cry for love to return.
She is not just got beautiful voice but beautiful soul. I saw her in 2005 in Cesme hotel were I was working . She saw me looking at her and she smiled at me and say hi. I was so shy than I couldn't even say hi to her. Just stayed there like bag of potato. I wish I could talk to her. She is great.
If you listen to the same song ("Aşk") when she performed when she was young, you will see that her voice was even stronger, sharper. Idk how to explain.
I heard this song by Sertap as a kid and it left an impression, an impact on me. Still can't forget it even after so many years.
When Sertab sings, my eyes water and I get goosebumps
Did you know that she is sometimes using public transport, like the ferries in İstanbul, that she is also joining some street singers and supporting them with her presence ? Sertap Erener is also a valuable person in the matter of egos. 😊
She won the Eurovision in 2003. Sing name was Everyway that I can
She is our mentor, I am a coloratura soprano like her as well and whener I perform this song, I always keep in mind about exactly your observations, such asthe sliding between the chest dominant and the head voice as you mention in this video. As a Turkish singer, extremely proud to have her🥰
I like this performance of her a lot. She does definitely give me with her voice that feeling of someone who desperately looking for love. Perhaps it is because she sings this song in Turkish, my mother tongue.

It's nice to hear criticisings about our loved songs by professionals. This way makes me to understand more about my feelings (what I like about the song). Thank you for your critics.
I am very proud because I see a foreigner vocal coach that talks about talented singers from Turkey. Actually Sertab Erener is one of the best of our country. She is singing, feeling and explain everything about the song to us with her mimics and theatrical motions. She is part of our hearts! Thank you very much dear for all your comments and honest feelings about her 🥰
She is amazing. We love her in Greece too ❤🇹🇷🇬🇷❤️🫂
@@konstantinosparaskevopoulo1490 ❤️ thanks a lot
@@meteozkoc6964 I flew alone to Marmaris to go and see her at a concert. She was phenomenal. I follow her since 1998... She never comes to Greece unfortunately. Felt strange being alone in a concert, but when she sang "Yanarım" and "Aşk", I was singing along... Will never forget these moments. ❤️🇹🇷🫂
@@konstantinosparaskevopoulo1490 actually I am Cypriot and I got a chance only once to listen her live in Cyprus 😻 was amazing, breathtaking
@@konstantinosparaskevopoulo1490I'm glad to hear that you enjoy her music. She went on a europe tour last year, it was mainly focused on western europe but you're always welcome in Turkey. She'll be doing a tour this year, if you live in the islands, we're one boat away haha
Thank you for your comments. We are lucky that we can listen her songs, she is the best !!!!
I first listened her live in a university concert. She’s our diva in Türkiye. ❤Sertab Erener
When i hear this song and her voice, tears are flows from my eyes involuntarily. I love you Sertab you’re so special soul and voice for Turkish people.
Wow. At 3:40 she is singing in two registers at the same time - One or two octaves apart.
it is actually TWO octaves apart
I think the translation of the lyrics doesn't do it justice here. She says "aşk, geç tenimden" and translated lyrics are the "love, brush my skin" but it should be something deeper like "love, pass through my skin" because it needs to be passionate
💯
Sertab is among the all time greatest female vocalists of the world.
With Turkish singers your subscribers will jump to the roof 😊😊😊😊
She is almost 60 now and still Sings awsome For me she is the best Singer in turkey For me . her voice technique is perfect .
You are so sincere that I wouldn't get bored if I listen to you for hours. You have great comments and a wonderful smile. Even here, no one has increased the value of Turkish singers as much as you.
VALUE OF SERTAB IS NOT A MATTER OF DISCUSSION: BUT YOUR SICK MENTALITY AS A BITTER AND HATEFUL ARMENIAN IS VISIBLE!
I am so glad you have actually analyzed this song as I was one of the people who recommended this song in your reaction video to Sebnem Ferah. Just what you expect from a soprano. She has not only a very smooth and powerful voice but also great control over it. Thank you for the analysis. You have great energy and positivity that puts a smile on the face for no reason :))
That was exactly the same reaction when I heard this song for the first time. A dropped jaw :)))
So far the best pronunciation of Turkish words that I've heard from an English native speaker! 👏
Benzersiz bir ses her dinlediğimde tüylerim diken diken oluyor hayranım bu kadına mükemmel bir insan
Hey Bethany ! Thanks for all these beautiful things you said about our Sertab! She is our queen
Sertap'ım 😍 çocukluğum, ergenliğim, gençliğim, orta yaşlılığım... efsanesin be kadın 🥰
What is more surprising is that she actually sings like this in her concerts with the dancing etc. Really incredible.
I saw her live when she wasnt even famous in 92 at a high school music contest. she opened for Sezen Aksi with her hubby, Levent Yuksel, at the time. She must have been in her late 20s and her voice was even better 🎉
The moment we've all been waiting for 😅
I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song. She has an extraordinary voice.
It's a pleasure to watch your comments and analysis. You're doing a great job and I'm so happy you shared it with us.
Love from Istanbul
I love her, she is amazing and I feel so proud that I had the chance to listen to her lively more than three times. Definitely, one of the best voices I've ever heard.
She has a really charming voice ❤️
she is the best voice in turkey ,by the way she won Eurovision 2003
Thanks for the reaction, Sertab is my favorite Turkish artist. She has an opera background.
I love this singer!!
Well to be honest, I was expecting to hear some more and more praises and comments about how perfect or beautiful her sound is 😅😅 She is some kind of treasure for Turkish art and culture 💐💐💐
Sertab Erener, is one of the best examples of what modern Turkey stands for. One that the founder of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said "A nation devoid of art and artists cannot have a full existence"
Great reaction as always🎉❤ greetings from Turkey 🥂
Sertab Erener.. The best in the world. sound.
She has an opera education backround. I'm from Turkey and one of her funs . 🥰
Fans? 😊
She is best of the best ❤️
çok seviyorum bu kadını..tepkileri çok güzel içten samimi..
As a vocal coach, you cannot be hearing Sertab for the first time, she is a very good singer for many years
Aşk Sertab, though passed many years, she still holds the power of her magic!❤️
She has always been my favorite singer, since I was a teenager. I even finally started taking singing lessons myself, because her music touched and inspired me so much, but also because I love singing. You’re such a nice person, i love how you reviewed her. You remind me on my vocal coach, she is also very kind like you. If I was living in your country, I would habe come to your classes. 😌❤️
Saygıyı hakediyorsun büyüleyici 🙏
love sertab and your reaction💜
She has a fantastic voice, she is an outstanding performer but man, this song is beyond fab. She sings this with a Greek female singer. That's also a nice duet
7:37 vaolin part is really good aswell
one also needs to see and understand that she is actually sitting. She has study classic music and opera, Very beautiful colourature Soprano, she is tiny and she gives the biggest sounds. That flips come from Classic Turkish Music. Yes insanely good to go up to folseto and come back to her chest voice. Sertap is amazing, always been.
I saw Sertab live recently. Her voice is magical and this song gets me every time. Thank you for doing a review of this song!
Even when she is holding back you can tell she has a very strong voice
And when she is not holding herself she is still very comfortable, it's nothing for her
She's fantastic and (as usual) connected with Sezen Aksu, who mentored her.
Sertap Erener is an amazing voice, I'm sure it's hard to even sing after his health problems and surgeries, but he has a voice and technique that everyone who listens to music in Turkey still admires, he's a giant inside of him, we love you Sertap
@D R ohh sorry definitely she :)
Your comments are very detailed and very good, you are a true professional.
Song --> Fascinating
Sertap Erener
What is the power of Sertab's voice, so is the power of your cuteness.
I don't believe Sertap Erener needs any reaction or evaluation for her voice or technique! She is the best over the rest, that's it!
Please also listen "Bir Damla Gözlerimde" from Sertap Erener. One of the most beautiful songs ever written..

She is not a joke, She is doing that like it is nothing, very relax and all over the place, goes up n down then to the sky n you are being landed to the floor in a sec. Mosts of the singers would cry while trying to do this like her.
Hi Bethany o/ Thanks so much for what you are doing. And introducing her to me. By the way, i found this whilst searching through Sertab's earlier work. It might draw your attention. When i asked a friend of mine about this particular song, she s Turkish btw, she said that this song was from a series called "I Wish I Sang It Before" (Keske Ben Soyleseydim) by Sertab Erener. And she said that these songs were where Sertab discussed with her team on whether or not those songs should have been on Sertab's album back then. And surprisingly they didn't put those on the album :D Anyways this was the story of my recommendation i wanted to tell you. Thanks so much again, you are beautiful not in just heart
Linkteki şarkı Sezen aksuya aittir ve bu şarkı geleneksel Türk müziği stilinde bir bestedir. Sezen Aksu Türk pop müziğinin bir numarasıdır. Sertap’ın öğretmenidir. ❤
Birilerinin bizi takdir etmesine ihtiyacımız yok biz ne olduğumuzu biliyoruz.. teşekkürler..🇹🇷
If memory serves, I think she did this as a duet with a Greek singer called Mando.
Correct, and that was the original and the best version. Actual name of the song was Aşk / Fos
Yes, also Georgian singer Grogu too.
She sang Bob Dylan’s “one more cup of coffee”. Amazing!
Bu kadın nasıl bizim ülkeden çıktı hala şoktayım 😂
Huge vocal talent
There is also an English version of this song "Aşk", called "Leave". She sang it at the start of Eurovision 2004 that was held in Istanbul, thanks to again Sertab Erener for winning Eurovision 2003 with "Every way that I can".
you should also check her ex-husband Levent Yüksel singing Karaağac. He is one of the best bassplayers in Turkey and amazing vocal range as well
Everyone has to go and listen Sertab Erener concert to see her live shows. She is amazingly amazing!!!
She is the best female vocalist in Türkiye, of course that's my opinion. She can open hidden doors in hearts with her voice. She added some feelings to my heart with her songs and deep voice.
I love you Sertab.
She is Sertab!... The magnificient voice... :))
This was a good acoustic version but people who enjoyed this should also listen to the original album record! ❤
at 01:17 her voice goes up and deep and faded all at the same time. absolutely masterful control
sonunda level-10 bir solist dinledi :)
What makes her amazing is after all the struggle she went through, she's still looking for innovation, new tones, hidden parts of her voice. She sung opera, pop, contemporary, rock etc and she still managed to introduce us a different version oh her in her last album (2020)
She was originally educated as an opera singer. That's why she can use her voice this professionally. By the way, she's in the middle of her fifties here. You must listen to an earlier performance of hers not to hear those flips but a better vocal use.
Amazing Turkish singer❤
This is my favorite Sertab Erener song. I strongly suggest

Lyrics: "I walk on thin ice"
There's still something inside me
It looks like hope
He's telling me don't forget
I'm keeping quiet, I'm keeping quiet
Somewhere out there
A voice that is now fading
He tells me don't give up
I hear you, I hear you
In a dream
Slow and silent
I walk on thin ice
Walls in front of me
Ties in my eyes
I'm going through the flames
Life, how many times will it hit and how many times will it break
How many times will he destroy and how many times will it toss
My heart, my heart, how many times will it beat and how many times will it stop
How many times will he believe and how many times will he forget
Life is life, how many times will it hit and break
How many times will he destroy and how many times will he toss
My heart, my heart, how many times will it beat and how many times will it stop
How many times will he believe and how many times will he forget
In a dream
Slow and silent
I walk on thin ice
Walls in front of me
Ties in my eyes
I'm going through the flames
Life, how many times will it hit and how many times will it break
How many times will he destroy and how many times will he toss
My heart, my heart, how many times will it beat and how many times will it stop
