    I've installed these ceramic pads from akebono due to your suggestion 10 months ago. I must say these are the best pads I've ever seen! They are silent, dustfree, and they have amazing breaking capacity! The oem pads left so much dust, my wheels and calipers were always disgustingly dirty. Thanks for the tip!

    The Akebono pads I installed onto my 2000 Toyota Tacoma with Brembo rotors (ordinary discs without drilled holes or slots) drastically improved brake pedal feel on the first drive. The pads are also made in USA.

    Akebono pads are by far the best pads (for Toyota /Lexus specifically) as a former 17 year A.S.E. certified technician, that's all we would use. Also we almost never had to warranty a set, since our brake service consisted of new rotors, and new akebono pads. The best braking experience hands down (because they're oem +spec!)

      That's awesome, but what I can't stand is folks that turn their driveway, street in front of their house, and across the street into a used car museum of every car they've ever owned and doesn't run anymore w/ expired inspection stickers and weeds growing out of them (like the guy a block from my house)!
      When the wheels start to fall off, just donate to Goodwill and they'll come out and pick it up for free. And you get a tax write off! This rant coming from the owner of an 04 Ranger Edge w/254K and runs perfectly.

    Because of this suggestion by SK, I put Akebono brake pads (and new rotors) on the front of my 98 ranger about 3-4 months ago. These are the best brakes I've ever installed in 30+ yrs of working on my own cars! No dusting and they feel significantly better / firmer than the stock brakes ever did. (I completely disassemble, grease pins, & 100% flush fluid each time I do brakes. I also do the proper bedding procedure). I have an 03 Jag S-Type and will do the same to it next summer.

      That's right! Don't try to save money on pads as you'll waste money on labor when you have to replace them sooner. Or, have an accident. And don't trust anyone. make sure everything is torqued correctly as mistakes happen when phone rings or other distractions occur to mechanics when they work.

    • @Russell-rc6qq
      @Russell-rc6qq 2 года назад

      @@productcheck This is definitely important. In December 2017, I had new brake pads put on my car and not long after a brake caliber bolt flew out on the freeway from my front driver-side wheel. I did not know what had happened at the time and just heard a loud metallic noise; I made it home without issue but the next day the wheel made a clanking noise and I could not back out of the driveway so the car was towed to the mechanic. There went a full day and missed work because the mechanic had to order the bolt and wait for it to come in.
      I had the lower control arms redone at the same time the new pads were put in; after I had the car towed the mechanic told me he would check the lower control arm bolts for me and make sure they were tight. The mechanic obviously failed to do so because a week later I subsequently had a lower control arm bolt come undone in my car. My car became immobilized at a gas station (and thankfully not on a busy street or freeway) so it was towed 50 miles away back to the mechanic. I needed an alignment done as well. Anyway, the mechanic who did this work had his reputation in shambles by the other shop employees. One told me neither of these things should have happened.
      A few years later I went back to the shop. The receptionist admitted that the mechanic who did the work on my car was fond of smoking cannabis and was quietly compelled to quit and go live with his mother in the mountain town of Big Bear, California.

      Akebono costs a little bit more.. good quality pad... and they are a OEM supplier to many Japanese cars... as well as with many parts on cars.. the manufacturers don't make many of their own parts.. they are all gotten from different suppliers.. i.e.. hoses and belts might be supplied by Gates, Dayco.. etc.. brakes from various suppliers.. Akebono, Bendix, Wagner .. etc... whoever they contract with at that time...

    I work for Collins Aerospace. We make aircraft wheels and brakes for airplanes. You are right the rotor and staters are made of carbon fiber. They use multiple layers of rotors and staters in one wheel assembly. They do last a little bit longer then steel brakes but the main reason they use them is to save weight on the aircraft. I enjoy your videos thanks!!

    Akebono, Period.
    I've been working on cars and trucks for years and have been through many brands and styles.
    Akebono pads are by far the best I've ever found especially for Japanese cars. Don't know why, but they work and last longer than rotors. Tossed a Corolla around like Nascar and rotors got warped but pads still had 4 mm left before i got run of the road 6years later!!!

    • @stinkycheese804
      @stinkycheese804 6 лет назад +1

      Seems like the worst outcome possible. So-called "warped" rotors with great pads don't stop well. True/good rotor with (evenly) worn pads stop fine. Decent rotors cost more than decent pads so you're paying more for an inferior result. Vehicles are designed to wear the pads faster than the rotors. If that's not the result you're seeing, you're doing it wrong, especially in recent generations of vehicle where the rotors start out thinner for lower cost and weight savings so once they've developed warping or hard spots, there isn't enough thickness left to them to turn (lathe) them so you need new ones.
      PLUS, it isn't hard to find brake pads with a lifetime warranty. Lifetime warranty for rotor is less common. I'd much rather my pads wore faster than rotors.

    • @biancaramirez5788
      @biancaramirez5788 6 лет назад

      Stinky Cheese I had good rotors...
      I drove like Mario andretti.
      That's why the rotors got warped.

    • @stinkycheese804
      @stinkycheese804 6 лет назад

      Okay, then yer doin' it wrong. A Corolla is a dog slow POS, not a nascar, and it'll get wrapped around a tree or any of the SUVs and pickups on the road. Very risky.

    • @biancaramirez5788
      @biancaramirez5788 6 лет назад +2

      Stinky Cheese , I was forced to stick around in California.
      There's only two ways to drive in cali.
      Flat out or stop and go.
      Throttle position is to the floor or hit the brakes.
