  • This terrified depressed Pitbull named Nala was rescued from the streets of New Zealand and brought to a shelter. Abbie Van Der Plax, the shelter's owner spent two days sitting on the floor trying to gain her trust. She spent hours trying to coax the distressed dog out from a corner but she would just tremble and growl. When her 7-year-old son, Zach, joined her side the dog's personality totally changed. Nala's separation distress is slowly getting better and she loves being by the boy's side. #InsideEdition

    • @BoqPrecision
      @BoqPrecision 3 года назад

      90% of an animal's interaction with humans is based on what they experienced during their formative years. And it usually takes 10X the amount of positive reinforcement to make them forget traumatic memlries or bad habits taught. So if say a dog's tail was pulled once as a pup, you'd need 10X the amount of stroking it's back lovingly or patting it on the side, before it feels comfortable around you.
      Some lessons I picked up over the years.

I sat down at the cage and all of a sudden the dog starts walking up wagging his tears and letting me pet him, of course he ran away when my baby sister came up but came back when she left. He was a lab, Pomeranian, Shepard mix and was cute as hell, unfortunately we couldn't take him but I would visit every few days at the shelter until I noticed a family looking at him with me, they lived nearby me and actually decided to adopt him so I still see him every once and awhile. that was so beautiful seeing the dog move when the boy arrived and good thing that the boy adopted the depressed dog.

    Roxie to your left was my Pitt Bull who passed away on Valentine's Day, she died of liver cancer. The last few hours were bad, especially the final 5 minutes were awful. I was able to hold her and look into her eyes as she passed away. I miss her so much.

      I wish I got to say goodbye to my dog, she had wierd symptoms and was coughing so my mother took her to the vet with my brother. Unfortunately 30 minutes later I was called being told she's suffering a heart attack and there's nothing they can do to help her. I didn't get to see her before she got euthanized and I didn't get to say goodbye. She had been deeply attached to me since being a puppy and I felt like I betrayed her not being there to reassure her while she was suffering. Having a bond with an animal is tough, even more so when you have to let go.

      @@astolos9625 Im so sorry. Im sure she was thinking of you. Letting go is so hard, Im going through that too. But I will be honest with you, watching Roxie die was so hard. It may be a Blessing that you did not see her die. Im telling you it was the hardest thing Ive ever done to watch her die. I'm NOT getting another dog, I would feel guilty to love another dog. Take it day by day.

      Sean Wilks I agree. Hopefully the attachment instinct will set in and they'll keep her as it would be cruel I think to have her trust them and feel safe with them to then put her with new people.

      its always like this on other similar videos, they would rescue a pet then take care of them and you will see them very happy playing together then by the end of the video, they will say theyre just waiting for someone to adopt them.

      Np it doesnt. She could of grown up with a little kid and been there nest friend. Then kid had to get rid of the dog (who knows why)
      And the dogs just super sad it lost it's best friend. And finally sees another kid after only seeing adults. So she gets happy.
      Who knows which one is right. But idk why everyone assumes the worst right from the start with little to no evidence
