Another nice and scenic drive. The Forest Service could most definitely do a much better job of managing our forests and public lands. They bend a knee to the environmentalist groups and tree huggers to the detriment of good management practices. Forest fires will never be stopped, but they definitely could be reduced in both number and size. They sure use to do a lot better job than they do now.

    Good morning young man.
    Neat old CCC fireplace left.
I think we all need to do controlled burns to keep the under brush down.
We do it here and the dry seasons don't produce fires.
    Anyway have a great Sunday

I loved the tour! It’s amazing that the chimneys remain, as a reminder of what once was. Thank you for the beautiful scenery, and the historic drive. I notice that you still have a slight cough. Take care of yourself, this crud sure lingers.

Good stuff - I enjoy your trips down the river. Forest management practices are responsible for lots of these fires being so catastrophic. Fire is a natural thing, but years of poor management have made them much bigger and severe than they should be - in my opinion.

Didnt realize it was the CCC that built that road. End of 41, we suddenly had other need of money, men, and material, and at the end, the CCC's Champion, FDR, was gone, and we was near broke.
    Thanks fer the ride along!

I always like seeing all of the old ccc camps and cabins. The old cabins are disappearing and are unfortunately being torn down as well. These men paved the way for what we enjoy and get to use today. This is part of our history and what is left needs to be restored before they are all gone. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

    Good day Gary.
Nice educational video. Those old chimneys hide a lot of memories. I agree with your take on forest fire management. Years ago Smokey the Bear was a symbol used to protect old growth forests. Problem was the trees became their own worst enemies when kindling on the forest floor was a fire disaster waiting to happen. There is a fine balance though because many animals like pine martin need old growth forest. All the best.

Good morning 🌞 Muskrat and Cindy, we woke up to a few degrees below freezing and snowing ☹️. This winter in Tennessee is looking like it’s gonna be a little cooler than average with a bit more snow. I’m beginning to think that these weather patterns are going to be the new normal. I love ❤️ hearing the history of your area and seeing the old cabins or what’s left of them. Thank you 🙏 for the adventure on the salmon river road. Have a wonderful day and watch your topknots my friends 👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️🐽🐷🐖

Nice ride this morning, always enjoy tagging along. Appreciate it.
We have an old ccc camp a few miles out the road from the house, one of the loggers pushed up a big howitzer live ammo round and had to call in the specialists to remove it.
We take rides over there every so often. It's slowly disappearing around here, cause these carpetbaggers are buying up all our lands and building crap houses and charging outrageous prices to these imports moving in here. They're just eating it up.
    Sad to see history disappear.
Hope Cindy and you are doing good
    God bless y'all,
    Tennessee Hillbilly, Out.

Politics of the time aside, just imagine how thankful those boys in that CCC camp must have been. Beautiful scenery, roof over their heads, warm bed, three square meals, and a paycheck. Thats how i was told it was, anyway. All of that during a depression when a lot of people lived day to day.
    Thanks for the video.

Fires are a necessary part of nature but we could definitely manage it a lot better. They should allow fish and game and fire fighters to get together and come up with plans that actually work to mitigate or control fires. At least the ones close to homes and businesses. Let’s hope for more common sense fire control in the future. Enjoy the day 👍👍

Too bad those old cabins were burned down! The one that’s standing looks like it could be repaired. It would be a shame to let it fall down! That is such beautiful country! One of your scenes looked like a black and white painting!

We have a local "F S" office here in Camp Crook, we have had 2 LARGE fires: The first one was in 1988, the second was in 2002....I think between the two, we might have lost 100K + acres of trees.....it actually changed the weather here. This country is primarily plains, flanked by two small forests......The "Long Pines" and the "Short Pines". I forgot about the "3rd fire" which occurred in 2015 (March) it burned another 12K acres in the "Short Pines". My point of all this typing is this: The FS or gov management of forest seems to be FIRE!!!!!

Another nice ride-a-long but please be careful driving.
Looks like you are slipping around a little bit.
Sure wouldn't want to slide off into the river.
That standing cabin across the creek might be a gold miner's cabin?

Just one pan of the camera across those mountains wonder how many Square miles that would count up to be?🤔
    Those wolves could be anywhere.
I wish l could see those mountains in person just once to grasp just how big the land out there is.
Those mountains are way bigger than any l have seen in upper New York, New Hampshire, Vermont & Maine.
I did hike up Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park Maine which is the biggest mountain in Maine but your mountains make those look like foot hills😅
